Simply a beautiful cake. I did a fault line cake for my sisters 70th after watching one of your videos and made my butter cream thinner and the steel scraper did a fabulous job on finally smoothing my cakes. I watch one of your videos every day and have become less tense in doing my cakes. I love this design and I had always used gum paste in my fondant to make my figures hard, but now I’ll try tylose powder. Thanks for teaching us other media to work with. Alice

I LOVE this cake and love how you made the decorations. My question is I noticed that some of the geodes have pick in them when did you put them in?
@sophisticakesbymary2 жыл бұрын
I put them in maybe an hour after they are cut out. Long enough that they don't lose their shape when you insert them, but not so long that they crack.
@arushagangoo83702 жыл бұрын
Thanks a million for this gorgeous tutorial. Did you make those flowers? 😊

I LOVE this technique! If I don't have an airbrush what can I use? I hesitate to use a straw, since it would blow germs onto the gumpaste.
@sophisticakesbymary2 жыл бұрын
Right. And in the tutorial where I did this on a cake, I did blow it because I didn't have my airbrush with me. I did say not to do that for an actual cake, but I felt bad even doing it for a demo;( isn't there something that can be squeezed with your hand and it blows air out? Oh gosh, I don't know what it would be called!

Hi, the cake is gorgeous. Can I ask at what point did you attach the sticks to the toppers?
@sophisticakesbymary2 жыл бұрын
Sorry I did not explain that! I add them maybe 30 minutes after cutting them out. You want it to be firm enough not to lose the shape but not so firm that it cracks.

You could try a hairdryer if you have the nossle attachment. I haven't tried it but I do use that on a canvas with paint. You just can't control it as much on a small scale I would imagine.;(

This is absolutely gorgeous 😍 are you sure you have the right link to the other artist? I don't see anything like this on that channel and all her videos are from two years ago 🤔
@sophisticakesbymary2 жыл бұрын
I saw it on her Instagram;) There is no legal issue with adding a link to another channel, in fact it is appreciated by most creators instead of not getting credit for their work as well.
@nooras8652 жыл бұрын
@@sophisticakesbymary I'm sorry if my message was unclear, I didn't mean there was a legal issue or anything like that. I was just curious as to what kind of decoration this other person had made and couldn't find it on the channel you linked 😅 I didn't mean anything bad by it.
@sophisticakesbymary2 жыл бұрын
Omg I am so sorry! I looked back at your first comment and I read it wrong before:( I thought you asked if I had the right TO link the other artist!!! Wow it must have been late:( You would be surprised how many comments you get as content creator that are just mean spirited. That was definitely not what you intended. I have an eye exam in 2 weeks and it must be needed! I haven't seen her actual KZbin account but it was on Instagram. She must not be using KZbin now.
@nooras8652 жыл бұрын
@@sophisticakesbymary That's okay and understandable, you must have a lot of comments to go through 😁 although I can't imagine how anyone in their right mind could find anything negative to comment on your content, you are absolutely fantastic, creative and I just love your videos ❤️

I’m still watching but will quickly like. I was stunned how you mixed colorants and were able to spray paint. I’ve tried that but the tool always clogged Question: is it ever clear the answer ? I used vodka when trying this technique
@sophisticakesbymary2 жыл бұрын
Vodka works well too;) I have clogging sometimes too and I find that it helps to really thin it down. And then just take a minute to run some water thru the gun here and there to clear it out .
@donaharrisburg54692 жыл бұрын
@@sophisticakesbymary hi ty for the response. Too gracious of you. Making this brief, not using your time. I tried this with airbrush colorants that have sparkles in it. Clogged big time. Thought just can’t be used. I’m setting up and trying again. Btw. I tried on Ri, candy clay too. Anyway I will cite you.

@sophisticakesbymary2 жыл бұрын
Hmmm maybe if you have the nossle attachment? It needs to be pinpointed on what you are trying to manipulate. When I do these types of peices on canvas, I do use a hairdryer this way, but it is a bigger surface.

@@sophisticakesbymary Hmm. I'll have to get creative with that hairdryer!
