New EN Tingyun response when added w/ Yukong sounds kinda..

A thought came: What if the changing of the voice has something to do with the revelation of Tingyun being alive in the story? Like the indication of her previous EN voice is actually Lord Ravanger Phantylia while her new/current EN voice is actually the real/true Tingyun all along.

No. Old VA is part of the strike. I just don't understand why they had to erase her work for the 4-star even if they couldn't hire her for the 5-star

Probably the ongoing va strikes leading to voice lines not being able to be recorded. So they just went with a new VA. Not sure tho.

I think it's just that the original voice didn't suit the full range of the character, which isn't the VA's fault because she didn't know the cultural context behind what kind of character Tingyun is. But now that we have more info about her, the old voice just really doesn't work. I played CN voice originally so I always hated the EN voice for being too out of character, and I think it always needed a redub. We don't know the situation with the strike, but I think it is equally possible that it was too much to hire an actor who hadn't worked on a character in over a year to redo all of her old work in addition to doing new stuff, on top of VA strike issues that might require new contracts, and recasting would be much easier than all of that.

I think the new va serves better as a much more calm tingyun as aposed to the old va, which has a much more chipper and energetic voice, and considering her current state, it's not surprising that she would kinda lose that energetic and cheery voice.

I don’t know why her new voice, for me, seems more like an AI product than an actual VA. I notice it especially with her battle voice-lines where she literally change the tone of voice during the same voice-line. I don’t like the new voice, it doesn’t suits the character and it seems more an “attempt to replicate the work of the previous VA”. Also the “theory” that says that the voice changes because it's the real Tingyun now makes no sense, the appearance of both the new VA and Fugue is more of a coincidence than anything else, and also the voice of Phantilya is way more similar to the new voice than the previous one (and also if this is true…why no one asks her why her voice was so different during the Xianzhou quests?)

Well fun fact the playable tingyun that we played is actually patilia, now she the real tingyun

Its not good, her voice sounds so stale and stagnant. Theres no depth or character. It’s just a higher pitched asta without astas personality. She did phenomenally as fugue but her performance of Tingyun isn’t great. I’m not blaming the VA, it’s clear that wasn’t her fault as it’s apparent they simply just tried to make her mimic the other VA’s performance.
