Nothing better than a story where the hero goes on an epic adventure of self-discovery only to reveal at the end that they've learned *fUCKING NOTHING!!*

@@spectre1725 Sorry, but you are not entirely right, in my opinion this is a very stupid ending. Gale overcame his relationship with Mystra as wrong and unequal, he left it in the past. And you want to return it to the starting point. This means only one thing: he understood nothing and achieved nothing.

holding gale's *physical form* over gale to manipulate him into serving her again is so very very on brand for mystra as portrayed in this game. it's a shame we can't kill her

I feel like they should've made it so that if the player convinces Gale to give her the crown, then Mystra will not only remove the orb from his chest, but also restore the true form of whoever changed into a mindflayer - Tav, Orpheus, or Karlach. And also, that Gale origin characters can choose to return to the mortal world, as a human again.

Finally a true ending where is a mindflayer at the end without Gale blowing himself up. Even if being a mindflayer for but a moment.

I know its not the point, but the music is so good here. The soft and encouraging tone captures the essence of this scene perfectly. Just like with Divinity 2, everybody at Larian was cooking.

The second-most simpified outcome. The most simpified is of course returning the power of the crown to her *without* having become an illithid, so she can't even bargain with restoring his original state. In either case, the dude gives up his shot at godhood for a woman who uses and gaslights him, who did not care if his very soul was destroyed by using the Karsite Weave as a bomb, and who will definitely tire of him again in relatively short order. This is Mystra's m.o. She's a pretty awful god, especially considering she used to be mortal.

@@marina_the_fox Oh, thank you very much! This question haunted me. I had hope that she could bring him back as a man. And this really could be the best reward for Gale. But, alas. Mystra prefers to do something good only for herself. The gods don't care about mortals unless they are under their control.
@marina_the_fox9 ай бұрын
@@7samuray not really. The gods care about the mortals within their domain, but if they interfere in their life's too much and unnecessarily, then the gods themselves will be punished by the main god Ao. With Gale, this sets a precedent that if he is restored to human form and returned to Faerun, then everyone will believe in Mystra and will make requests to her to heal relatives who have become illithids. And this will raise a question from Ao; such questions often do not end well. And then the other question: why can Gale, but Tav or other heroes cannot? In my opinion, this would not be very good in terms of storytelling.
@7samuray9 ай бұрын
@@marina_the_fox Yes, you are right about the precedent and Ao. But the situation here is a little different. This is not just a request to God from a mortal. We are talking specifically about the reward for actually “saving the world” and eliminating the potential threat from Karsus’s magic. And the reward must be proportionate to the sacrifice that was made. I think Ao might approve. Thus, if Mystra could return Gale to human form, she simply did not find it necessary (important) to do so if he decided to leave. Although for Gale it would have the highest meaning. This shows that humanity is truly inaccessible to the gods; they think in other categories. Regarding requests to Mystra from other mortals. In Faerûn, media is not so developed that the fact of the return of human form becomes immediately known to everyone. In general, all this is very strange. Jergal personally states that illithids do not have souls. No one can know this better than him. This means there can be no recovery.
@marina_the_fox9 ай бұрын
@@7samuray about illithids and souls - it's Larian homebrew. Or rather mistake: D&D basically indicates they do have souls, but they just don't believe that eternal fate is up to a deity. So technically and theoretically it is possible to heal even with a wish spell🤔 And yeah, you right: gods think in other categories. I remember reading a book about Mystra-Midnight, when she just became a goddess and retained human thinking: she tried to convince the gods to oppose Cyric and was able to do this only when she began to convey the idea through the domain of one or another god. Later, she also had to reject human thinking, as this entailed certain consequences. I just want more options and endings for other characters like Gale has now. So that there is balance and interest in replaying.
