I got mine yesterday and while I wasn’t expecting much, it looks nice but still lower specs than some of the more recent JB issues, I was pleasantly surprised at how well it sounded and played. And at $850, it’s a great value. The color is a knockout when you see it in person. Great demonstration, it’s obvious when you are enjoying playing a guitar.

I love that you measure the nut width in addition to the depth at neck and 12th fret. Also, you do a great job of explaining the neck profile and offer alternative guitars when applicable. A 50s chunky neck is not for me but I love the slim taper found on some 60s models.

Got to hear Joe shred on this last night in my hometown of San Jose. I had just purchased it from his website the day before! I'm not a guitar player, but am a collector. This is my second guitar. My other is a GCJ Signature "Blak & Blu" Epiphone Casino. When I was at his merch booth before the show I saw he had several of these for sale. The one on top of the table had a sign that said $1100 and it was the limited to 300 edition with his name in the fretboard, and a big fat signature in gold on the body! He had what looked like 10 of these lined up in the back in his "Nerdville" branded cases. There was another sign next to this, that said he was selling this same guitar for $1500, but it would be the one he opened with his first song of the show! I asked his merch team for more details, and they said yes, the same 300 edition model he would be playing in the first song of the performance would be for sale, and he would sign AND date it. Like Arthur_My_Dear said, they all sound more or less the same, but Joe himself said this Epiphone actually sounds better than the real deal '55 Les Paul's in Copper Irredescent he's acquired (3). Watching and hearing him play this Epiphone replica live was the biggest endorsement ever, and I'm super happy with my purchase, even if it never gets played.

Artist Guitars, an innovative Australian brand, already make a Gold Top Les Paul with P90s, and the P90s are *stacked!* I.e. you actually get four p90s, they are individually switchable and can be played in normal P90 mode, *OR* when both stacked P90s are switched on, they are humbucking. Yep, *Humbucking P90s* if you're adventurous enough. It's about half the price of this Epiphone, but is a very fine guitar indeed. I have one. I don't work for Artist Guitars, but I love their stuff.

Beautiful guitar with a wonderful sound. I'm not buying it for 2 reasons: 1) I have 10 wonderful Epiphones including a Les Paul Special with P90s that sounds fantastic and gives me an exceptional feeling. 2) Because I don't like the headstock of the Les Pauls and SG Epiphones (I bought the latest SG custom white with a Gibson headstock and it's wonderful) and given the price increases it's time to make it like Gibson. If this Bonamassa '55 would have had the Gibson headstock I probably would have bought it. For the rest it remains a wonderful guitar in all respects 🎶💥
@randrothifyАй бұрын
Agreed. If the cheaper Squiers, Gretschs, and PRS SE can use the same headstock shape as U.S. versions than so too should the Epiphones if they are replicas of guitars originally made by Gibson. The only time the Kalamazoo or other Epiphone headstock should be used is when the model in question was originally an Epiphone-only guitar. Play Authentic, right?😅

@@YW86-de5yz good to know, thanks! With one-piece neck and no ugly veneer on the back it's a nice step up construction-wise compared to Standard Epiphones. If you factor in the case it's not that much pricier too and it looks much better IMHO.

@@d.a.3003 I agree. If I didn’t already have the Lazarus, which is the same construction just with a different top and different pickups, I might get this one. A500K's are audio taper pots, B500K's are linear taper pots. Different tapers shift where in the rotation of the pot you hear the effect (change in volume or tone). Audio taper pots are best used for volume controls. Which should be used for tone controls is purely preferential, IMO.
