The intention of my comment was not to 'police' or to correct Mark, but to acknowledge that so many people are so desperate to see the Leitch design that any Saltire gets incorporated. I should have put some smiling emoji in first, perhaps, and the purpose of the last sentence misfired. I can see and accept that you might think it as me 'policing' comments. I get it. Thanks, Nick. I have noticed many things but just for now, I'll mention only one. They have installed the panels to the SW end of the Viewing Gallery and started on the other end. In the plans they were due to be Dark-grey metal panels but from your video angles I am wondering if they're not and now actually tinted-glass. Perhaps you might get a zoom in on that in your next mid-week?

Hi Nick, Again another stunning video, the pace of advancement is amazing now and you can see week to week how much more is done. Also I'd like to comment that you and David make an great team, obviously you with the videos and David with the technical knowledge, my question today is on the barrel roofing now we have learned that they are going to complete all four corners before completing each side and the wraparound to the glass facade, and also will they be infilling between the barrel roofing and the main body of the stadium Stephen

Stephen: thank you for your kind words. I'm not sure if you have more than one question going on in that sentence but as regards what I HOPE I've interpreted correctly as your main intended question: "No" the bottom of the Barrel Roof will not reach down to the Mansard and the concrete rooves. If, however, you're asking about how the wraparound will be with the glass facades of the North and South Stands, I can tell you it will involve metal paneling but beyond that I'd have to send Nick some screenshots. Would you want Nick to 'cover that topic'?

another great video Nick. Have Laing O'Rourke commented on the visibility of the Archibald Leitch designs on the brickwork? Maybe they are masked by construction site dirt and will be jetwashed at the finish to reveal all - perhaps just wishful thinking! Has anyone compared the number of seat rows at Goodison with the new stadium to get an idea of scale? E.g. the Park End has about 40 rows, so how does that compare with the new South Stand? Shame again about the result yesterday, when we did so much right yet again until the final pass/shot! Head-scratcher.... as the gaffer would say!

Sean: re the 3 missing panes of glass (2 to the top row and the smallest triangular piece at the Bottom right/NW Corner), I suspect that they got damaged. The 2 top-row sealed units probably 'popped' at some point with a poor seal put under pressure. I suspect they'll have been returned to the manufacturer for a reseal. Not sure yet about the other one as it will have been due to be the last installed anyway. The black light masts out on the West Quay have been in place for over a month or more.

Hi Nick do you know if they're reinstating the water passage between Sandon half tide dock and Bramley Moore dock by the west stand? They infilled the passage at the start of the project and according to official plans and planning permission it shows it still being there when the ground is completed. In the planning meetings they deem it important that the Historical continuous waterway between Seaforth dock in the North and Brunswick dock in the south should be maintained. your videos show that it has been cut off and it looks like its going to be a car park.
@DuncTheBlue1878
@DuncTheBlue1878 7 ай бұрын
Yes, the ‘water channel’ will be reinstated once they’ve completed the western plaza terrace. The water will connect from Sandon Dock to Nelson Dock, but the depth of the water channel won’t be sufficient for vessels to pass through - it’s just for aesthetics. This was a requirement of planning permission (council and Historic England request).

As in, will the seats have "Everton" in white?, and will it also be projected in the glass as shown in previous design drawings? Am a little unsure about the roof design in the 4 corners, for example at 5.35 in your video you can see that the back row of the seating were the concrete terracing turns through 45degrees will be covered by what is a perforated roof covering . If it’s driving rain surely the people at the back of the stands in the 4 corners are going to get a little wet?

The wall behind the uppermost row is high enough and sufficient to protect them from the elements
@davidbadcock2225
@davidbadcock2225 6 ай бұрын
@train: I think you are underestimating the sizes and perspectives but also the physics. Let me explain why and perhaps you may become less concerned. 1) The very top back wall of the terracing is higher than the height of any person standing on the top tier. 2) The Standing-seam roof and the gutter actually extend out beyond the line of the top tier of the terracing by quite some distance. 3) The barrel-cladding is only 20% perforated. This will do an excellent job for wind baffling, whilst allowing some air circulation. It may have escaped many that the barrel roof is actually much the same as the leading edge of an aeroplane and the aerodynamics are such that it will actually divert wind either up or down. 5) If the camera was exactly horizontal to the top tier of barrel-cladding, you'd be unlikely to be able to see the perforations at all, as the angle of them is so acute that wind would be passing over them and not through them. 6) The physics is really clever. If you browse for "Water collection from Fog in the Namib" you'll then understand the principle of how in reality the perforations are very good at sieving out rain. In a club official website article in early autumn, it stated how really pleased they were with the results from the trial modules in a test bed, where they applied water and gale-force wind speeds at the panels. I hope you feel somewhat relaxed about it now.
@trainwow24
@trainwow24 6 ай бұрын
@@davidbadcock2225 In response to your points, 1, The sections suggest the wall at the top of the terracing is circa 1.8m high, not enough to stop wind driven rain getting over the top of it and on to spectators. 2, as noted in my initial point, the pinch point seems to be in the 4no corners in alignment with Mega Columns supporting the roof trusses. This is due to the barrel-cladding cutting in to form the narrower end elevations. 3, 20% perforation is still significant, assuming their isn’t a second line of defence under, in these localised areas? Appreciate the profile of the cladding, yet rain will still get through. 4, Intrigued. 5, the fact it’s near horizontal at the top of the barrel makes it worse in my opinion. 6, Am sure the wind testing has provided favourable results, yet in the main the standing seam roof extends out over the terracing below considerabley apart from that is in the 4 corners (very localised I know) but I feel when it’s blowing a gale and raining heavily those sitting in the relevant corner may get a little wet. Though this is no different from being adjacent to the pitch, wind driven rain will still effect supporters, not the end of the world yet still potentially a small design floor as you wouldn’t expect to get wet at the rear of the terracing. Could have easily been designed out. I hope this makes you understand my thinking a little more…

@@trainwow24 Whilst I respect your desire for privacy, it seems so wrong to keep calling you @trainwow but I have no option. Firstly, I'd like to make the point that I am this chain of chat as a discussion, not an argument and I hope you find that so as well. I'm making it clear as I am on the receiving end of one or two negative comments, that imply that they think I think I am an authority, which I am not. I am only too aware that I don't know it all and am prepared to be persuaded on any issue, if evidence is provided. I recognise you are trying to present reasoned counter-points. 1) I do think I understand the description of the location you're most concerned about. If one recognises the bowl to be an Octagon with Side 1 being at the North end, 3 the East side, 5 the South etc, then you're describing the points at the junctions of Sides 2 and 3, 3 and 4, 6 and 7 and 7 and 8, where the bowl corners are nearest to the vertical line under the barrel-gutters. 2) I've not yet found a reliable section of the back wall to the terraces so unless you can furnish me with your source, I can't really comment on that estimate, which implies it's no more than a six-foot person. The seat backs are meant to be 0.76m high and using perspective from shots of contractors on the terraces and then also the seats, I am not sure that 1.8m seems right. Seats are not placed to the back wall in all areas either. 3) Correct, there is no "second-line of defence". 80% is much more significant than 20%, however, and gravity is a much more significant force than realised too. Without seeing the data from the suppliers results, I can't comment further as to how much water actually traverses sideways once it's breached the skin of the barrel-cladding. The nature of eddies at the perforations would be likely to disrupt the air flow such that gravity and the weight of water drop will more than likely drop down vertically rather than go sideways. But, as I say, I can't offer further insight without the data. 4) Doh! Another damned typo. 5) Well, I'd refer to the points in 3 above. 6) We must agree that we have a slightly different perspective with regard to the physics and aerodynamic forces and with particular note at those 4 corners but I DO definitely agree with you about the pitch-side. Have a good evening and thank you for the discussion.

Rob: The horizontal beams are part of the wind mitigation design, in order to reduce the creation of a wind tunnel along that face. The beams will have rigidly-affixed metal panels dropped down from them to just above any-person-head-height and EFC have permission to 'personalise' them.
