@davidbadcock2225 hi David hope you are well , just a quick question, is the canal goin to be same width of previous water way before stadium build or is it goin to be this narrow and still join up to both docks either side
@davidbadcock22253 ай бұрын
@@colinmumford267 Colin, yes, thanks, I am well. Are you? There is a slight difficulty in answering the question directly due to the reference point. There wasn't a canal/channel before, as such. The whole of the area eastwards of the centre of the West Quay was, of course, the water of BMD. The southern Isolation Bridge is much as it was before, with the water not connected to BMD. Previously, Sandon Dock and BMD were open with each other as the old Dock Gates there didn't 'work'. The northern Isolation Bridge is a completely new construct. However, you can see the Granite Coping Stones from the old Dock Wall still present. At the NE and SE edges of the future Water Channel you can see clearly the gentle curves into the main dock area of the old Granite Coping Stones. At the southern end you can also see the old dock wall under the granite stones. What can't be seen currently, still buried, are the old Dock Gates located in the old dock wall curvature, nearest the north and south ends of the curvature, nearer the Isolation Bridges. Those old dock gates (look at the ones just at the other side of the south Isolation Bridge to Nelson Dock if you want a reminder as to what the 4 dock gates at either end of the future Water Channel will look like). As described above, the eastern edge of the future Water Channel is defined already by the old dock gates, the curved old Dock Wall and the shape of the Lower Promenade above the Seacant Wall that is being spray-concreted. The western edge of the future Water Channel is a little harder to describe in shape but the edge is defined by the old Dock Gates and old Dock Wall of the West Quay. At 3:22 mins in this video you can see the outline of the old dock wall along the west quay. At the left/southern end it starts near the west end of the southern Isolation Bridge and travels north before turning left/westwards in a 90d curvature around the newly flagged area. Then it takes a right/northwards 90d curve and runs along a short distance in from the line of the light masts and the DNOC ("Media Complex") up until you get to where there is a sand drive way cutting in from the NW, where the old dock wall turns 90d right/eastwards a short distance before then turning left before taking in the NW old Dock Gate before reaching the west end of the northern Isolation Bridge. Does this answer your question?

Nick, has the barrel cladding been fitted incorrectly? Have a look at the vents. Can you find out if this is how it should be.
@DuncTheBlue18783 ай бұрын
Barrel cladding has been fitted correctly. The air exhaust vent size, shape and number depends on the number of extractor fans under the barrel cladding. More vents on the west side because that stand has more kitchens.

@@stephenmcnally2590 They should have opted for an equal number, size and spacing of the vents - the east barrel cladding does look odd.
@davidbadcock22253 ай бұрын
@@DuncTheBlue1878 Dunc: Good day to you. IMO I think we have slightly different views about this issue. I like the fact that it tells the story and has extra levels of asymmetry. It adds character, quite beside the practical relevance. A major objective of the barrel-cladding is to act as an aerodynamic wind-baffle and rain harvester. Having extra areas of, say, 80% porosity mesh without the grilles behind them, rather than the 20% porosity elsewhere, wouldn't make much sense in practical terms. Sure, they could add 'blind' paneling behind the extra 'holes' but then it wouldn't be telling the story. Dan Meis was keen that there is an understanding and appreciation of what lies behind. I do understand that I am probably in the minority on this.

What’s going on with the rhombuses on the East stand cladding? They don’t match (some single some double) and looks a bit strange. Also don’t match the west stand. 🤔

They’re air exhaust vents. The size and number depends on the number of extractor fans underneath the barrel cladding. More kitchens on the west stand, so 3 more vents than the east.

I agree it looks really poor aesthetically. Shame because the whole build looks beautiful in general. There's a few little things that haven't looked as well as it could have. Why are there no white seats? EFC and EVERTON, also no EVERTON lettering on the glass?
@davidbadcock22253 ай бұрын
Uber: this is almost a guaranteed question each video and the answer is that because both the planners and the architects agreed it looked better without white seats. when you think about it, it really only has an effect when the stadium is empty, when there is no one there to look at it. This stadium is so unique it doesn't need a statement that it's BMD/EFC's. There are provisions in the plans for illuminated signage on the stadium in due course (potentially including the glass windows) but it's minimal and intended not to be "in-your-face". The exact brands/logos etc will be decided on when the full scope of the Naming Rights project is completed before the start of the 2025 football season. There will be plenty of EFC, blue and white on signage around the plazas and portals.
@DuncTheBlue18783 ай бұрын
The plans changed from those original images. The club opted for all seats blue (unless a sponsor wants their name or logo in white seats). The outside Everton sign on the glass of the south stand was objected to due to the heritage status of the docks, so it was removed. You can see the final plans if you search ‘stadium db final Everton design’ and scroll down to the high definition images (‘renderings’) from August 2020.
@davidbadcock22253 ай бұрын
@@DuncTheBlue1878 Dunc: yes, I'd agree that the photos in the imagery of that document from August 2020 would imply what you say but that does not agree with the final plans approved in the comprehensive document of September, 2020, particularly with regard to the section on "Signage". If you look closely at the images in your beloved document you will notice a large number of artistic licence discrepancies. I stand by my earlier comment, sorry.

At 1:17 mins we are looking at 2 contractors in a cherry-picker basket carrying out the installation of a barrel-section on the East Stand. The gap to the right/north of them will have more panels fitted to close the gap. We can see right through the gap to the inside of the bowl and the blue seating on the West Stand Terraces.' which may appear to move upwards by the drone moving downwards because the gap becomes a focal fulcrum.
