Kraka Drak is still just straight up my favourite mod for the Warhammer games. The flavour's so good! I haven't bought WH3 yet, but with all the extra stuff modders have to work with in this game, many of the banger WH2 mods look like they've been upgraded to newer heights. At this point, I just want to buy WH3 to play the updated mods; forget the actual game!

It’s such a minor detail, but the greatest upgrade this version has over the WH2 version for me is that Gashnag the Black Prince is actually a Strigoi vampire instead of a von Carstein. It helps him pop out so much more!

Had the galloper gun RoR for my tabletop Empire army list back in the day and it was so fun to use. Running down the sides of the army and lining up wonderful flanking shots was so satisfying. Super cool to see them implemented here. I'll definitely be checking out this mod for that unit alone! Lol

It's really annoying that the war wagons don't act as chariots. That's a massive heavy chunk of wood being rammed into infantry with gunners and spears high up and away from the rest of the enemy. They should be able to get stuck in and cause havoc in wnemy formations... not just be a kiting missile wagon that moves slower than most infantry

I loved this mod in Warhammer 2. It was one of my favorite factions to play. Cataph has out done themselves with the updated version. It is absolutely amazing!!! It is better than some DLCs we have gotten from CA. I can not recommend this mod enough.

Every time some one says "hybrid unit" I giggle because in melee they still get spanked like a gimp at a N'kari bondage party whenever I use them. Edit: I do everything I can to keep my lothern sea guard out of melee.

Lothern sea guard are archers that can defend themselves decently from cavalry, not a backline to frontline to backline unit. The only times you want them in melee willingly is when the rest of your infantry is dead or you're in a pinch

There is a ui mod. ;) And about the factions: Normally they should work side by side. You just have to be careful that the mods don't edit the same factions/sub-factions. But it is mostly in the mod descriptions where there might be conflicts.

Depends. Red's is a bit stronger in terms of stats and the Tercio system is much more interesting in battles. Cataph covers the map with fleshed out factions, but both mods are fully incompatible. Both mods have amazing unique Estalia units. Red's Estalia stays strong Early-to Lategame, and its harder start, having to deal with both Beastmen and Rebels in the first 2 turns. Also Ikit is given Tobaro nearly for free, its both good for player as nuke waste battle and bad in terms of losing a settlement. In Cataph implementation Tobaro will not fall, as Ikit is not at war with you turn 1, but Bilbali will belong to Lucrezzia, so your economy wont be as good in Early game, unles you backstab her and kill her very fast. Cataph's Estalia falls really hard lategame with very small buffs and requiring a lot of compromise from the player with absurd costs in army maintenance, as Lupio increases a lot the maintenance cost if you go for buffs. With full buffs and level 9, Cataph Estalia is considerably weaker, except for the fact Cataph heroes are individually stronger. Probably Lucrezzia Estalia is a bit stronger as hero doomstack is avaiable to her. Lupio can get some strong Royal Guard+Blacck Watch+Noble Retinue/Righteous Spear combined arms army, but Cataph cannons are much weaker than Red's culebrins, so in Cataph case using Orthos Unlucky organ and mortars is pretty much a requeriment, while in Red's case culebrins and Ribaults will be strong Artillery options for ranged builds. Also Red''s has a lot of Late game viable units with giant Bull riders, Granaderos, Buffed up Aventurero Tercio units, conquistador units... Overal Red's is designed in a much more strong Lategame vanilla like style, in which Estalia can stand as a strong foe, while Cataph is designed in an old style less powercreepy way, with Estalia feeling more of a Minor faction with difficulties. If you played OVN albion without submods, its similar to that, you will encounter difficulties vanilla factions or Red's wont. In My opinion Cataph lacks more sinergy with Estalia playstyle that is completely based off in the new Merc building. Royal Guards, Adventurers and Lancers are pretty much the core of the faction, but Lupio and the red line skill tree dont really buff the units enough to warrant an acceptable performance lategame. Heroes with massive buffs for ranged weapons would be great, but the mercenary capitain only has a relaod skill buff, similar to the one from the Paymaster's wagon. Paymaster's wagon+Mercenary captain+Lupio+all buffs +level 9 Royal Guards is still a subpar Lategame army, considering Royal Guards are Tier 4. Cataph forces combined arms gameplay to succeed, and in turn you wont have much heavy hitting units for sieges, with the exception of the Princes Own Lupio RoR black watch and Montante swords. Biggest issue with Red's is the fact that you will have a more vanilla-like map, because you wont have Tilea and BP fleshed out, along side the 2 West and East Ind companies. After all it is 2 vs 8 factions 4 vs 10 legendary lords.... I love both and would love to be able to use Red's Estalia with a few of Cataph units, and all the rest of Cataph factions active, but unless some really dedicated Submodder/s show up to do this giant taask i doubt its going to happen. Since cataph factions are not modular annd cant be activated/deactivated by user separately we have such predicament.

Gashnag and most the blue rors, El Cadavo, Lucrezzia,Borgio,Gashnag and Marco Colombo are all Dogs of War/Tilean/BP lore confirmed characters. Lupio Sunscryer and Catrazza are made up / take CA names and flesh them out. So Tilea is pretty Lore friendly, Estalia is made up entirely with a few references to their unofficial armybook and dogs of war army book specialization. Estalia has little lore but it is mostly disregarded by the mod. Estalia is mainly used here to give Lucrezia a Start position.

Not as seperate faction armies..there was the Dog of War book but mainly the units were used as Regiments of Renown for other factions on the tabletop. I loved adding the galoper gun to my empire army when the meta was to have long lines and minimal ranks...you could get some great shots with the cannon ball bounce if your initial range estimates were on point. Good fun...sigh, I miss WHFB tabletop.

Everytime I played Estalia in any mod it was always very boring because you really lacked a good objective. After killing the beastmen in Stalia in turn one or two, taking on Skavenblight is too difficult at such an early stage and you look around and see that there aren't any other enemies to fight. You have to run for a long distance before you can start the conquest train

Just tried it out again and there are still way too many annoying bugs in the game which just make it unbeasreble to play. Having lords in citys toggeling the option to turn off notification for movement and still getting an pop up each turn regarding these lords. Sure its nothing major but over a few hundred turns with increasing number of idle lords defending/recruiting in settlements it gets way to annoying.

The araby faction mod was not only not tied to the Southern Kingdoms mod, but it wasn't even made by the same author (made by the OvN team) The Araby faction is coming and is better than ever, I was some previews and they look crazy. Legit CA quality on some of the models. The faction mechanics will also be overhauled and much improved and more unique

You're supposed to go to the Southlands to attack things like Tomb Kings. Which also unlocks the extra LL. Also you have a bunch of buffs to help you expand colonies overseas

I get why but it's a shame Cataph doesn't support SFO (or any other overhaul-type mods). Hopefully, someone will make a SFO submod for this soon as I have no interest in going back to vanilla.
