They say "War never changes". Well, with this mod it certainly does for The Empire.
Bring The Empire into the modern age with a variety of World War 1 inspired units like rifle equipped linesmen, machine gun bunkers, mortars, howitzers, armoured vehicles, tanks and giant zeppelins.
The forces of evil won't know what hit them.
The "TW Millennium: Modern Warfare" mod has quite a few interesting mechanics and ideas throughout it from spawn-able trenches, MG bunkers and off map bombardments, I've had quite a bit of fun with it.

Hey, I'm one of the developers of the mod and first i wanted to thank you for showcasing our work. Concerning some of the problems or weird things you mentioned: The Modern Rocket Launchers are somewhat of a broken unit. They were originally intended to be the anti-air artillery by having an AOE-damage effect which should work only against flying targets. But we never got the effect to work as intended and then tried to compensate with the shrapnel-cloud, which too doesn't really do what it should. We are contemplating to give them just a regular explosive warhead and leave it at this. The minefield too is an addition of something which is more for flavor than the actual use. Since something in the code makes it impossible for the singular mines to trigger when an enemy is near them, we gave them the staggered explosion to at least be somewhat damaging when a enemy unit is running across them. When i have an idea how, i will try to "fix" them at some point in the future. The reloading ability of the rifle-company actually triggers not at 80% but at 5%, this is because the 80% is in the base game the value at which many ammunition related ability trigger. We changed this value but forgot to change the in game-text. It most likely will be done with the next small update we will release. About the tanks: The light tank actually is based on the LK II a German tank, which got developed in 1918. There were about 600 hundred ordered but only about two dozen of them were completed by the time the war was over, so it is not very well known. The problem with making them more "warhammery" is always that pretty much our only references for how "imperial" tanks look like come from 40k, which we can't emulate and the steam-tank. And the other dev pretty much hates the steamtank with a near-religious passion AND is the one who builds all our vehicles/artillery pieces^^ We always look at a unit when we are done with it and think about how we can make it look more imperial, without over-doing it. Additionally, the steam-tanks are heirlooms, basically tech-relics with each one being a century old named unique war machine. It makes sense that they are decorated with gold and engravings, especially in the "renaissance" era the vanilla empire is stuck in. But the mass-produced tanks of the modernized empire are not as personalized, it just wouldn't be feasible to do so, even with the modern industry the empire doesn't have the sheer number of resources the 40k empire can waste on something like this. Plows or a bladed "cow-catcher" actually could be a cool addition, i will write it down. The Heavy Helicopter is based on the Focke-Achgelis Fa 223 a German transport helicopter from the 1930 and the light helicopter is based on the Flettner Fl 282 which was developed in the 40's. While they are a little bit too modern for our World War 1 setting, we felt the dwarfs had set a good precedent with their gyrocopters making imperial helicopters a feasible development at an earlier time than in our own history (not many helicopters flying around in 1500). The Assault-Infantry is armed with the MP-18 submachine-gun, which was given to the German assault-infantry the "Sturmtruppen" in 1918. They were so effective; the Treaty of Versailles specifically banned their production. As for the artillery-crews running away after the limber/unlimber: It is a weird interaction between the transformation of one unit into another (based on the Cathay dragon lords) and the binding of an crew to its war machine. We think this is a code-conflict and haven't found a solution to this, beyond the movement order after the unlimbering as you mentioned. Thank you for taking the time to explain things to me. The design concerns make sense to me and, yeah, better things look historical than W40k. Interesting to learn about where some of your ideas came from. It's really fun and I like the ideas and mechanics in the mod. Great work overall.

Didn't mention the mortar cloud poison, which doesn't work. Maybe make it a magic weapon effect, and have the cloud linger on the ground? Even 5-10 dmg/sec would do.

in 1917 at the Kaiserschlacht there were SDtormtroopers with Sub Maschineguns the MP18

I remember having a laugh at this mod when I first saw it, and I don't mean it in a mean sense, I just thought the concept was really funny. Haven't tried it myself though. Rain does in fact affect units in total war warhammer, it affects unit vigour, can't remember the details though and maybe it does something else aswell.

this mod recently got a massive overhaul update, including a new tech tree, new lords, new heroes, new building mechanics, etc, etc. will you revisit this mod and do a new playthrough with the new version? I'm loving it so you probably will too.

Possibly. I've had a go of the new update. There's some neat stuff there and it feels a bit better balanced too.

Personally i like the addition of mountian troops and Colonial troops, tho i wish they had accsess to their own artillery.

They plan on redoing other factions of the game to the same tech level so the end goal is a WW1-esq style overhaul. They're doing Brettonia after they're finished with the Empire.

I guess it depends to what they are compared to. Trench infantry of WW1 compared to arquebusiers? Sure. Compared to magic Dragons who can spew flames or undead Liches and Vampires, not so much. As for Greater Daemons and Chaos Champions...bullets may only tickle them a little.

@@andrew3203 the units in this mod literally shred anything what are you talking about, dragons and demons die to 2 volleys of the gunners and artillery in this mod, play the mod first you dummy.
