It's a bright little amp. I was super impressed by the Andertons demo (although Pete can make anything sound amazing) and yours as well. I like the straight Tele sound into it (very Fendery) but it wasn't until you put some reverb/delay (they did a great job with the digital reverb on this) with some drive that it came to life for me. I'd love to hear some jazzy type sounds with a Les Paul neck PU going into it - as soon as one lands at my local GC I'm going to give it a try! I think I'd like to try the Deluxe Reverb Tone Master (which is more than I need for my office) and this side by side. Thanks Rich - wonderful playing as always!

The later champs certainly have their own mojo, but nothing beats a tweed champ at cleans or pushed tones. The tweeds just have a little rounder bottom and although it can get a little flubby, it isn't flubby until its cranked over halfway up, which isn't exactly the intention for a bedroom wattage amp.

Seen and heard this amp on other you tube review/demo videos and it's hard to tell the true sound because it sounds different in other videos. Most likely it depends on all the other equipment being used, guitar, mic, pedals etc. and even room size and how much things are in the room too. In fact, just the other day I was watching a video comparing a Magnatone Varsity amp compared to a Fender 57 Custom Tweed Deluxe and the Magnatone didn't sound at all like how it sounded on all the other demo videos I've watched. The Magnatone sounded not bad but not as good as what I was used to hearing.

i like the sound off fender amps but the thing i don't like about them is that fender always uses cheap components in there amps wich will fail after a couple off years . The only way to avoid this is to have you're amp upgraded by a tech who knows what the weak spots are , sound/build wise .

Great video and demo, thanks! I've just ordered one, should be here in a few days.. Pretty excited! One thing that annoys me a bit is that "3,2 ohms minimum" written clearly on the speaker output. This is a very akward number, and does it mean you can use an external cab with whatever impedance from 4 to 16ohms without ruining the transformer? If I'd like to try it with 2 x 10 cab running 8 ohms speakers, no problem? I know you should not use lower impedance than required (anyway does a guitar speaker lower than 3,2 ohms exist?). It's a bit confusing, and Fender should be more informative on this, because a lot of owners will want to use bigger cabs for this amp
@JimKerstetter3 жыл бұрын
I just sent a note to Fender about this. Waiting for an answer. How do you replace the speaker if it goes bad since Celestion does not sell this in the 3.2 ohms. They say to ask Fender which is in the note I sent Fender.

for home....this or a Princeton?
@futilitarian38093 жыл бұрын
At approx 15 Watts, the suitability of a Princeton home will depend on whether it's an attached premises. If you live in a flat/unit/apartment and practice at times when your neighbours are around, they will likely have some issues if you dial in the Princeton (or Blues Junior) to sound anywhere near its best. I have a 5-watt '57 Champ. There's a driveway between me and the house next door. I haven't been brave enough to ask them yet, but I reckon they hear it. Also... I made all the usual newbie gear mistakes. I splashed out on a 22-watt Custom 68 Deluxe Reverb when I was starting out. Yep... it sounds awesome, but again.... not to my neighbours, even wth everything set at 4. If I had my time again, I would probably do without the amps I have buy something like a Boss Katana 50 or 100, each of which allows you to reduce the output to home levels (there are 3 power output options on each amp), has a range of quality effects built in, is loud enough for jams/modest gigs, yet costs about the same as 3 Boss pedals (here in Oz, anyway).

Great playing as always man but this little over priced thing is a bummer. Horrible speaker, cheap components and for what they want for it you can buy a sweet 70's handwired beauty. If you're going to replace the speaker anyway might as well put it in a decent model. I digress...
