It makes me grin when I see shadetree mechanics not cleaning out the bed before starting work. But someone with a shop? That to me is like a dirty shop. Not a whole lotta confidence-inspiring. Same with the mudflaps brackets. It's four bolts/2 on each side to zip off. Seems like a logical progression of tasks, like the filler neck and tail lights connectpr.

Why did you use flat steel for the floor , You could have bought some Corrigated panels from Lowes for about 50 bucks and it would have looked like the old floor and probably cost less. Just curious.

The corrugated metal from places like lowes are for siding and roofing and is only 29 gauge. This customer uses this truck to haul wood and he wanted something tough. 29 gauge wouldn't take any abuse compared to the 1/8 flat steel I used here

Sure could've but the stuff from Lowes is way to thin. Line x is good stuff I agree but In my opinion it's not worth spraying that roofing metal

What did you use for bed supports? Mine are rotten through and won't pass inspection?
@ParkerMotorWorks Жыл бұрын
You can buy the bed crossmember kits or use various metal like c channel or square tube

What gives the bed strength when there are no raised ridges/corrugation on the replacement sheet?
@ParkerMotorWorks Жыл бұрын
The replacement sheet is at least twice as thick as factory

Where did you get the bed from?Mine is a 99 Ranger xlt. Parts are obsolete. I would like to restore a lot of the truck. I've never done anything like that before. 😕
@ParkerMotorWorks2 жыл бұрын
The metal came from a local steel distributor

Why are the videos so short? dude they let you do 1 hour + videos now

I have a couple long ones but it takes my a few hours to upload a long video

Sorry if I missed it, but what gauge steel insert did you use?
@ParkerMotorWorks Жыл бұрын
I used 1/8th inch steel sheet

@Parker Motor Works thank you! Doing this to my sons truck and your videos are a HUGE help.
@ParkerMotorWorks Жыл бұрын
Glad it helps. There's one that the video freezes that I can't fix but everything becomes self explanatory once you cut it out. You can probably get away with something thinner but I like welding to 1/8th inch

How much did this cost in material
@ParkerMotorWorks Жыл бұрын
Somewhere in the ballpark of 200 to 250. I dont remember exactly

Can you just go over the old floor?
@ParkerMotorWorks2 жыл бұрын
There would have been a weird height difference between the middle and the sides if I stacked them.
@natemadamsify2 жыл бұрын
how much did you charge for this repair?
@ParkerMotorWorks2 жыл бұрын
Whole thing was just under $900. If I were to do it again it would be at least $1400
