Renovating an old barn and turning it into a functional modern woodshop.
Part 2: demolishing and replacing the 1st floor. Pouring and polishing a concrete slab downstairs. A lot of work for the perfect shop floor!
Getting one step closer to my dream shop :)

Great video! Talk about having to be very satisfied with both yourself and the job you did, this has to be it. With steel beams and brick walls, this has to be every guys dream shop.

At least you had some I-beam construction, so there was something to hang the new joists to. Nice job!

@@phroge1866 Some people pay a lot of money for "aged" wood like this from barns and stuff, not to mention 90% of what he removed was still good besides that one section where even the beams were rotting...while being worth its weight in gold is an exaggeration, it definitely was worth something...and it seemed a waste to rip it out to only put OSB in its place. Hope he never has a leak, as that stuff disintegrates once water gets to it. OSB should be illegal for any type of construction in my opinion.

@@ISometimesAgree the way he tore the wood up made it basically useless, the only things I could see being made out of it was small stuff that's why I think its pointless

I'm psychologically preparing myself for something like this, 8x6 m construction with bad foundation . Still in the balance between demolish the existing construction and build it from zero or reuse it. In my country we have some pretty bad earthquakes and need to be solid . Anyhow, a lot of work, bravo !

Did you consider not removing the wood flooring and just putting osb on top of it? I realize there were some areas where rot was too significant and needed new floor entirely.

Great Video I think that you need to leave 5-10mm between OSB and wall as the wood will expand and shrink.... With the gap you will give the wood space to work and you wont get any tension warps and cracks.

I only saw 1 fatal flaw and that is the joins between the OSB boards not lining up over beams, that means there is no support under them and when you step on it your foot will go through, maybe not now but if they ever rot a little in the future ....

6:17 Wow, those beams are really far gone! Hoe kwam dat eigenlijk? Waterschade door lekkage? Hopelijk is het dak nu wel waterdicht, anders is al je harde werk straks voor niets geweest, zou zonde zijn, toch? Vloer is mooi geworden!
