I'd always prefer a car with old school approach. The more electronics something has the more it's likely to go bad. The rough, rugged feel this provides is what gives it the character. Same goes for hatchbacks or saloons, punchy engine preferably NA, great steering feel and that's it, there's always a workaround for electronics but there's no workaround for a great drive.

Some thoughts on 5 door - Remove the 3rd row. (Makes boot bigger than midsize SUVs) - Make 2nd Row adjustable for legroom. It looks so unusable. (Main priority for people) - Give better seats like the segment currently has instead of those decade old ones - Make it more modern with features & soft touch materials for the price its asking. (Creta,seltos feel waaay better) - Improve NVH. - remove that incredibly cheap head mounted ac unit & go for more modern approach. If acted upon this it would have been amazing for imo many people to sway in its direction.

Take Ineos offroader from UK, it has successfully applied its no compromise rugged with modern interiors that doesnt feel outdated. My points about seats & its config, cheap ac unit & super bad decade old plastics still stand true. Go learn a bit about the international & now coming to the same level indian market where even if a car is outstanding offroad it will not sell with its poorly implemented interiors. Go look & feel a wrangler, bronco or even indian jimny 5door which feels miles better than this objectively worse interiors.

1 & 2 i completely agree, and I feel seats are good enough for what it is. All necessary modern features are available in our pockets today, so not gonna ask for gimmicks that can break when going off the beaten path, a car like this must have only the essential features that will survive an apocalypse. The NVM again is personal choice, a few people people like me love those raw rattles and the diesel whistle. Those too can be removed using after market products and smart mods anyway. And considering the AC works like a charm, why go from something that works really well to something 'modern' just for the sake of it?

The third row seats can be removed if you want more bootspace👍. Add a proper lift kit, Dr.Nano or MMG, 32 or 33 inches tall offroad tyres, front and rear steel offroad bumpers, a tyre carrier, winch and recovery gear. You're good to go.

A true Man, who just like being behind the steering wheel instead of sitting back , will definitely love thE GURKHA.. It has become more appealing than earlier with the increase in power and torque this has become more likeable... But as it is said, this is still not for everyone, but those who will opt this SUV is really special.. because this SUV has got special characters..

Looks like it’s already lost considering second row. Just don’t get the logic of keeping second row cramped and no sliding arrangement. It could have been a good 5 seater with lots of luggage space making it a good long ride vehicle.

The air coming in through the door is the door beading thats probably come loose. One can unseat the door beading while exiting if the front seats are set to far back. Thanks for the well balanced review.

WOW Love that turbo spool, reminds me of My Safari Storme. By the way, I can imagine and foresee lot of buyers removing the last row, and pushing the middle row a bit backwards, as a retromod. Force can easily launch a 5door variant with more middle row space too.

They messed up with the second row, a little more legroom would have been highly appreciated. And we don't need a 3rd row on a hardcore 4x4 Suv like gurkha, that's totally unnecessary. Interior could have been a bit more modern, it's like 20 years older or so.... After all people will pay close to 20 lakhs.

Ah.. That rear AC vents are some of the cheapest plastics I have ever seen in an automobile. The finishing of body panels are painstakingly poor and very much like a commercial vehicle - likes of the Ashok Leyland Dhost or Tempo Traveller. Force needs scale up their quality levels, at least similar to Ineos Grenadier.

@@jayanthmakam4547 the text titles do mention its a 2.6-litre diesel, 140hp and 320Nm - four cylinders, the basic engine is like a 1970-80s Mercedes Benz design which has been heavily updated over the years to meet emission norms. Not refined for sure, but its part of the car’s character - hope this helps!

Thar is more Practical, Useful and Convenient as compared to Gurkha. Thar has come up with different Options, Choices, Mahindra Service Center is better. Gurkha service center, Customer Service is not that great. I think they are mostly focusing on heavy vehicles than customer SuV

The only feeling this vehicle leaves in a potential buyer is “Why couldn’t these lazy folks at Force Motors work a little hard to remove these small issues in this vehicle?” It’s almost as if some spoilt rich kid at Force Motors decided to avoid going all the way because it involved hard work. Put the second row on silders. Push the 3rd row bucket seats closer, so that our feet are free from the wheels. These are basic things, how they didn't test this out is shocking.

3:07 exactly, why would you put captain seats that too in the last row! Rarely used last row should have been a foldable bench seat that would increase the cargo space too. Plus second row captain seats would have been more comfortable and spacious with no tyres taking space.

The fact that they are constrained to the same design direction. That they have to keep everything basic. That they have to choose from the same parts bin. That even simple things can be designed better but yet they don't. Usually the management restricts them or maybe the designers are just limited in their abilities

@@praveen20 next event i shall ask this on your behalf - very very valid points i fear their answer will be “budgets” except i (and im guessing you also) feel that making a gurkha a halo product and spending time with designing all the tid bits fresh would pay them back in bucketloads later

@@carswithkaran Thanks for taking this up Karan. Looking forward to their answers in your next force product video. However If the answer is budget, then I think the company is quite sure where it wants to be. In the commercial transportation segment with its trax, toofan and the traveller series. I think Gurkha is just a fun side project that keeps their name relevant, but like you said, if they want to make it their halo product, which will and can help them sell thier Urbania line better, they need to invest in design and brand. I am sure the management knows! Its about vision and what it takes to get there.

Gurkha 5 door me mujhe jan na he ki pichhle door ki height & width kya hai.kyun ki main ek truck owner hoon aur main jan na chahata hoon ki agar main pichhe ki 2 seats nikal du to usme ek ya do 4 feet height ki truck tyre jaa sakti he ya nahi. Plz mujhe pichle entry ki measurement bataiye.

I will take the JIMNY anyday over this.. Pros- - Better 5 door - Equally capable if not more - Fit & Finish way above - Can be your only car with approximately no downside.. Let people laugh at its size.. Even the Gypsy was this size only roughly & people loved it which makes me sure that people are hypocrites.. Take that Jimny under 15 lacs Spend 2 lacs over it to mod it as per your taste & stand apart from the crowd of psuedo SUVs that our Indian janta loves

-Substandard Interiors -No safety features -No comfort features or modern day functionalities. -A.c positioning a d steering wheel looks like a decade old design. - No automatic version - No recline possible in the seats. It would have been better to include all those features and increase the cost proportionately. Not fit for family use. Force gurkha designers need to work much harder. It's such a capable car and can become a cult...but the designers make sure nobody gives a damn about this beautiful machine. Gurkha designers and leaders who cant read the market enough need to be fired! Sad!

Never liked THAR except willys original Jeep the rugged one. Gurkha is the only true Off roader available in indian market. That Boxy design is my favourite ❤️

I’m extremely happy to see that they have improved things by listening to critics . Like engine “power upgrade” with an option to economise when you want . Lovely idea. ”suspension arms” redesigned for ground clearance. digital front console and an info system with google maps BTW(Toyota still needs this upgrade) The issues still linger on non adjustable middle row seat back angle. Why can’t they just swap the middle row and the back row exactly like the Innova crysta ? It’s an extremely convenient setting. If I buy this 5door I’ll surly get it done as an after market thing… captain seats in the middle and 50:50 flat bed seat as the last-row with detachable and foldable option . Exactly like Citron C3Aircross . ❤❤ I’m extremely happy to see them work on the product and upgrade it with mindful inputs. All that is left now are the showrooms and silly sluggish sales agents who are least interested in selling . Lena hai lo varna Aage badho…. Sawal mat poocho.
