The EPA rating might have been based on the 87 octane, and 91 octane usually gets you better mileage. But even then, 21 highway for an offroad centric pickup truck WITH a sport tune, is extremely impressive.
@Jay-me7gwАй бұрын
I believe that all vehicles use 91(or maybe 93) octane for EPA MPG tests regardless of what the recommended octane is. I believe thats part of the test. But yes, I agree, 21 is pretty respectable.

@whocaresjustdoitАй бұрын
@@gurt4138 it really depends on how you drive and I found mine to be pretty close to what the dash says. Right now it’s a little lower than usual due to winter gas. I drove from Portland to Boise (450 miles trip each way) and the truck used around 24 gals, so I’d say 17-19 is about right. Most people who own Raptors like to brag about how low they can get their mpg…I do have my fair share of fun with it but I do a lot of interstate highway driving (around 70% of the time). I’m over 36,000km on the odometer now (22,370mi), and the best economy I ever got was about a month ago on a 382km (237mi) drive from Townsville, QLD, to Mackay, QLD (so sea level - no downhill nonsense), was 9.53L/100km (24.68mpg). My average over the 36,000km of ownership though, has been 12.82L/100km (18.35mpg) though. Twice now I’ve driven within 3km (2mi) of 750km (466mi) from the 80L (21.13gal) tank. Another great video guys. Love seeing the Ranger Raptor back in videos again. Been looking forward to comparing your data with my own Ranger Raptor. Mine has the Ford performance tune as well. I am seeing better city or around town mpg then I see on the highway. @@n00bstacle It does improve in the 55-60 mph range, not sure I can get it up that high without a tail wind. Around here you would get run traveling our interstates at 55-60 mph. Interstate speed limits are 75 and 80 in this area. I don't care that much one way or the other, I didn't buy it for its fuel economy. However. However, I would really prefer if it is going to get mileage like a V8 or actually worse, that it actually have a less complicated normal aspirated v8 like the 5.0L. I am sure the 3.0L EB does better on the EPA test criteria, but in the real world with head winds, hills and much higher speeds then the EPA 55mph criteria, the 5.0L is the more efficient and arguably the more reliable power plant. I have had and have several EcoBoost vehicles and have never seen much eco out of any of them compared to the V8s I had prior.
