The EPA rating might have been based on the 87 octane, and 91 octane usually gets you better mileage. But even then, 21 highway for an offroad centric pickup truck WITH a sport tune, is extremely impressive.
@Jay-me7gw
@Jay-me7gw Ай бұрын
I believe that all vehicles use 91(or maybe 93) octane for EPA MPG tests regardless of what the recommended octane is. I believe thats part of the test. But yes, I agree, 21 is pretty respectable.

I love my Raptor 37! With a cap in the back and 500 lbs constant load, I still get 17-19 mpg going up and down hills from Oregon to California and back. Stopped to get gas exactly 1 time! Having the Raptor R would have been nice but I’d never trade anything for my current setup.

I dont see how so many people on youtube comments claiming they getting 17+ with the 37 raptor....I have one and my computer reads 16 at max but when you actually do the math its like 14.5/15. Are you actually calculating it or just looking at the dash? Dash is almost always off
@whocaresjustdoit
@whocaresjustdoit Ай бұрын
@@gurt4138 it really depends on how you drive and I found mine to be pretty close to what the dash says. Right now it’s a little lower than usual due to winter gas. I drove from Portland to Boise (450 miles trip each way) and the truck used around 24 gals, so I’d say 17-19 is about right. Most people who own Raptors like to brag about how low they can get their mpg…I do have my fair share of fun with it but I do a lot of interstate highway driving (around 70% of the time). I just put the truck on adaptive cruise, lane centering, 70 mph and enjoy the drive. It’s such a great highway cruiser and I love the driving experience. Most of the time I wanted to stay driving as long as possible tbh 😂

I have a Jan 2023 build (MY2022) Ranger Raptor here in Australia that I’ve owned since new. I’m over 36,000km on the odometer now (22,370mi), and the best economy I ever got was about a month ago on a 382km (237mi) drive from Townsville, QLD, to Mackay, QLD (so sea level - no downhill nonsense), was 9.53L/100km (24.68mpg). My average over the 36,000km of ownership though, has been 12.82L/100km (18.35mpg) though. Twice now I’ve driven within 3km (2mi) of 750km (466mi) from the 80L (21.13gal) tank. If you just need the vehicle to cruise; it can do it. If you want it to have fun; it can do that too.

I am seeing better city or around town mpg then I see on the highway. @@n00bstacle It does improve in the 55-60 mph range, not sure I can get it up that high without a tail wind. Around here you would get run traveling our interstates at 55-60 mph. Interstate speed limits are 75 and 80 in this area. I don't care that much one way or the other, I didn't buy it for its fuel economy. However. However, I would really prefer if it is going to get mileage like a V8 or actually worse, that it actually have a less complicated normal aspirated v8 like the 5.0L. I am sure the 3.0L EB does better on the EPA test criteria, but in the real world with head winds, hills and much higher speeds then the EPA 55mph criteria, the 5.0L is the more efficient and arguably the more reliable power plant. I have had and have several EcoBoost vehicles and have never seen much eco out of any of them compared to the V8s I had prior.

Great video, guys! Love all your stuff, especially since buying any of the new overpriced trucks is out of my reach at the moment. One suggestion might be for guys like me that have little bit older trucks. Maybe do full reviews and contests between them and even some Ike Guantlet tests to show what they can do. I drive a '12 Silverado Z71 extended cab with the 5.3 and 6 speed, and there just arent many videos about them or other older trucks. I know they arent as fast or exciting as the new trucks, but it would still be fun to see how they did. emission is not just based on consumption, for basic CO2 it is somewhat right in thinking that less consumption = less emission but for everything else, there are so many variables which contribute to the overall emission...various things like engine temp, tuning, combustion timing, fuel type and the additives in it and so on can drastically vary the nox and pm emission... Why don't you guys just call it the Denver 111... It sounds cool and it's better than having to explain that every single time that it's 111 not 100.

Man I'll say it again i lean towards Chevy and GMC. But wow the power the ranger has for a midsize truck is amazing.

That extra 100 miles of range will cost you about $48 at the pump.

Wheres the snow.. Nice trucks.. Id like a King Ranch Tremor w the hi output 6.7 Diesels Roush pkg. The comfort of that Class is amazing. In the mil we had a H1 which was better off road mileage geared for terrain that would be the test up wolf mountain of something like Tommy over the road to the Black Hills?

So other than a bigger cup holder, what are you actually getting buying the F150 R versus the Ranger Raptor? I assume someone buying this kind of sport/offroader truck is not towing.

Big question: Was the ranger in the Raptor's draft? If so, it contributed to much better gas mileage
