Beautiful video. As a Bournemouth (Branksome) local I would love to know your route! I grew up in Burton, a village outside of Christchurch and spent my childhood either down the beach or riding into the forest. These days I have one route I do and am very uninspired even though the route is spectacular (through the chines, along the beach and then either back the way I came or through Boscombe, Bournemouth and Westbourne) Gearing up my tent for next weekend

@JethroJessop9 ай бұрын
It was very wet. I would have had to work hard to keep a fire going that wasn't super smokey. Plus, it's a National Park and wild camping is not encouraged so I wanted to keep a low profile in a pretty well trafficked area. I'd really like to get out and do some more camp cooking videos but I'll wait for the better weather for that I think

Check the description for the link to the route on Strava. That will give you the location to within a handful of meters. It was a good spot and felt as though it was pretty weather proof. Nice free draining ground, not too much undergrowth, plenty of flat pitches and a curtain of evergreen saplings as shelter from the trail.

I haven't done many kit reviews recently. I haven't got any new kit I thought I could spin a whole video out of. I've always totes with the idea of getting into doing shorts. Little 60 second reviews of stuff I rate. It was actually the Bolle that first triggered this idea but i just never quite got round to it.

What an excellent little campsite, makes up for the previous fruitless search. That would make an excellent place to film some bushcraft type posts!? What a brilliant ride into the urban centre. Some really pleasant scenery, and I loved the singltrack panniers comment!🤣 Nice to see that your regional railways have really prioritized and encouraged cyclists to utilize their well thought out services..so disappointing! But hey, don't want to end on a negative comment, albeit a more sarcastic one. Really enjoyed that semi-unplanned adventure. And the New Forest looks a beautiful place to explore. Nicely done Jethro! Take care buddy😊

Don't even get me started on the biies-on-trains issue. It is a constant source of annoyance and confusion for me and feels like a real missed opportunity by the railways. @JethroJessop9 ай бұрын
Thanks, glad you are enjoying. I use a Trangia alcohol stove which i set in the FirboxNano as a pot stand. I cook in a 750ml pan, i think its MSR maybe? Other than that i have small Ti mug and a wooden spoon that i whittled to fit in the pot along with the stove. All pretty basic really. I have a 5" Firebox at home with a little grill plate and billy can oven but I don't take it on multi day trips because it's just too bulky. Great for getting a bit more gourmet with though

No head torch? You plan for redundancy though? You at least have bike lights you could use? I of course have a second head torch, sorry to be a pain ha ha! I bought the little Petzl thing, years ago now, hardly used it. Bindi is it called? It’s very good anyway. Thanks for another enjoyable vid Jethro, I’m actually digging my gear out and checking stuff over, summer is on its way, a little Dafodil told me. Take care and thanks again.
@JethroJessop9 ай бұрын
I did have my bike light and the light on my phone so it was all good. I guess if I was going off into the wilderness I might plan for redundancy a bit more but on a ride like this it's hardly worth the bother. Nothing can really go wrong that I can't just grin and bear for a day or two. I missed the camp shoes more than the head torch to be honest. Still too wet underfoot to go barefoot and my riding shoes never dried out from day 1

@JethroJessop8 ай бұрын
I use tubeless. Have done since I got the Ogre back at the end of 2019. In that time I've had 2 punctures that needed plugging and one that requires sewing (and a new tyre). That's a massive improvement over what I'd usually have and I'm very happy with the whole tubeless thing. I carry a tube for emergencies but so far the situation has not arisen

They are yes. 27.5x3 Maxxis Chronicle They are really good except when it gets slick, then they tend to lose traction a bit.
