Greetings from Puerto Rico. I like the content you are creating because there is not much information about the development that Guyana is experiencing and you are making it visible. Much success.

I really enjoyed watching your videos because you narrate and describe what is actually going on.

Raphael, you should go down red road. There is another massive hotel going up there. ❤ nice video.

I think the Texilla American University is building dorms at their campus on red road. Sheriff also has a housing development there. I have covered it in a previous video.

@@RaphaelNationi believe its the Hyatt Place that they are referring too, I remember reading some article about it 2 years ago that said they were building it in Providence.

Raphael, one could put a steel frame on an existing concrete frame . It's legal here in New York. We are doing this right now in Manhattan. But one must put the necessary pins to secure steel frames to the concrete.❤

The point is how haphazard the planning of even major construction projects is in Guyana.

@@RaphaelNationUnless, you are at the table or in the room with these people when they are planning these projects, saying that their planning is haphazard is a wild accusation. Because you don’t have any first hand knowledge of what their plans are.

Where in New York have you seen this madness of a structural deficiency being done? I have seen massive horizontal steel "H" that are supported by massive reinforced concrete vertical columns from the foundation. Then the steel structure is anchored to H steel beams that supported by reinforced concrete columns. Ralph is correct this is a disaster waiting to happen! Any lateral force will cause failure because the steel frame are not anchored to the concrete foundation as it should.

Do you know that the building at the corner of Lahama & Albert Sts. which currently houses a Chinese supermarket on the ground floor (74 supermarket.) and there is a club upstairs called zone 704. When that building was being constructed, the ground floor where the supermarket is out of concrete and the other floors above like the Sherrif mall is out of steel frame. Why can't a steel frame be connected to a concrete structure. All foundations for steel frame buildings are out of concrete and the steel frame is connected to it by holding down bolts. Some are usually put on short concrete pedestals where the holding down bolts are cast into the pedestal. A pedestal is just like a short column.

Because if an architect is designing a building from scratch he or she would not design it that way. An extension to an existing building may have a different material from the original building but not a new building. So it shows a level of carelessness and mediocrity to start constructing a building in concrete and then switch to steel. This construction has inherent weaknesses at the points where the two materials meet. An engineer should be involved in the process to ensure that the building is not likely to collapse in the event of an earthquake because of structural weaknesses.

This is Guyana where you have to know the local conditions. I worked over 40 years ago at a firm that was given the job to design what now the Greater Fishermen Co Op society wharf at Rumveldt, Greater Georgetown and they had an architect from Holland doing the design. He designed a wharf where the front of the wharf was not parallel to the channel of the river at the point where it was being constructed which if it was built would have given the fishing boats that tried to moor there a hard time to do so. A local architect might or might not have known what I said above, but definitely not a foreign one. I am glad that someone has commented that it is possible to start with concrete and finish off in a steel frame.

@@brianchu-a-kong1414 the issue is not whether it’s possible. The issue is mediocrity. Why do we settle for mediocrity in Guyana. We are a wealthy country. We should be constructing buildings to the highest standards.

I totally agree with your reply. However I find most people are only interested in the money they would earn than doing a proper job.
