I love your truck, it motivates me to work on mine! I have a lq9 and I plan on upgrading heads, I’m not sure which to go either with 243 or 823
@TheKingCoopa11 ай бұрын
Hey thats awesome! The LQ9 is a good motor to start with. Personally I'd stick with the 243 heads, just because its the same generation and the easiest. The 823 squar port ls3 heads flow really well, and they can fit on the gen 3 motors, but I know they need a little tweaking and you need specific parts to make it all work. Im not super knowledgeable with the gen 4 car motors, so im not much help here. I just say the 243s because thats what I know haha. But if you want the 823s and have good knowledge on it, then go for it! They will make some really good power. Thanks for the support and sorry for the late reply. Hope that helps

@TheKingCoopa Жыл бұрын
Oh nice!! Sounds like a really solid build 👌👌 hopefully I can start mine up by April 1st. (I took on way to many modifications at once with this truck lol) but frankestein did say their stage 2 porting will get about 50 extra HP on a 6.0. They are expensive though. For the injectors, I went with some fast 50lb or 60lb injectors, what my tuner recommended (fast injectors are a little harder to tune, unless your familiar with them) then added holley billet fuel rails. And for the fuel pump, I'm still not sure yet. I dont think my pump will keep up with the nitrous. So either a hellcat pump, or two walbro 450 pumps. Long term goal is twin turbos, a few years from now. So I might just do a fuel cell setup, and buy the big pumps now. I still have a few weeks to decide. Sorry, but hope that helps

@TheKingCoopa2 жыл бұрын
Hey, sorry for the late reply. Personally I'd stay with the 862 heads for your 5.3L, unless you're planning on going boosted or making some big HP. Even when I ran my stock 243s on my cammed 4.8L I had dozens of people telling me the stock 243s flow to much and I was losing power. So some ported CNC heads would be a waste of money on a stock 5.3. But they are definitely expensive, I cried a little when I paid for mine 😅 thanks for the support 🤘

Hey, thats awesome, I love the ctsv's. So I havnt finished putting everything together yet. The motor and transmission are installed. But I decided to do a wire tuck in the engine bay.... terrible mistake. I should have been done with this truck months ago 😅 but even if it was finished, I can't truly answer that question for you. Mainly because I have to many variables. Went from a small cammed 4.8L and 4l60e, to a fully built 6.0/4l80e, 3800stall, large cam, ect. Im changing to many parts to really know if the gain from the heads was worth it. I called linkinfelter, they wouldn't give me any hp specs for their heads. But I thought it was pretty bold of frankestein to say it will get +50hp. But they were pretty confident and I believe them. I'll find out soon though haha. Sorry, hope that helps you out. Thank you for the support! 🤘 good luck with the ctsv

Any PTV clearance issues? Finally getting the 243s. The book you recommended me is great btw
@TheKingCoopa Жыл бұрын
Oh nice, thats awesome! There isn't any PTV issues with the 243s and 4.8L-6.0L. The issues start to arise when you get a larger camshaft, different ratio rocker arms, or mill the heads down. My heads are milled .015, I have stock rebuilt rockers, and my new cam is like a 240/234 112+4 I think. Don't quote me on that one. But when I spec'd everything out, that camshaft is the largest i can go, since my pistons aren't butterfly cut. Or I would have PTV issues.

@@TheKingCoopa - You were talking about flow and saying the valves are huge - huge by what standards are you using? Port dimensions has very little to do with the airflow in the, which is in regards to the intake port coming from the bowl area and the short turn radius crossetion area. The exhaust is relatively the same but the port dimensions and crossection do make a good deal of difference - I have no desire to call one of my competitors to find out something I already know- if it is a ported factory head you can't put more than a 2.020 intake and 1.57 exhaust valves without changing the seats I'm glad you were satisfied with the performance you got

Lol. Port opening dimensions won't determine if a port will lose/gain. Port velocity & cross sectional area are much more indicative of potential gain.
