@@kaiserdetectivegolden2735 i mean they didn’t in sekiro or bloodborne nearly as much. like they always reuse somethings but if two things fill the same archetype of enemy and it’s not an important enemy, why make a new thing? for example with the hollows in bloodborne, dark souls, and elden ring, they have different stories and look different but they are the same archetype of an underfed skinny bald zombie like enemy, why make a new one if they essentially act the same? but for things like say relanna vs pontiff, they have the same archetype but are both important bosses, so they have completely different movesets. i feel like for a game that’s a spiritual successor and trying to do the same thing, plus when its mainly side content that’s reused, it’s not that big a deal. Also elden ring is their biggest and hardest to create game ever, which is why there’s so much bloat and the story is disorganized, but their next game, at least according to miyazaki, will not be open world, so they have more room for creativity and new designs. that’s why something like nightreign is a low budget game that reuses, while still allowing them to experiment with new bosses and mechanics, as well as multiplayer, so the next game has less unnecessary experimentation (because that takes up much of development) it has to do and has less reuse necessary.

I can't site any source, but I believe there is some legislation in copyright law that says you must actively protect your copyright, otherwise you'll lose it. Could be Sony is just preventing the loss of their Bloodborne copyright, by chasing some older projects, but leaving new ones alone, as to not pull a "nintendo" on the fans.

From what I heard these creators that got dmca and cease and desists notices were heavily involved in a harassment campaign against stellar blade which is a Sony exclusive I think?
