I’m seeing a lot of false claims in the comments. Just to clarify: 1) The new mags are not made by side-shot. They are made by FX, who bought the design from side-shot. 2) They are way cheaper than the original FX mags. 3) The FX chrony is not a re-branded chrony - The original was for paintball, but a whole new radar system had to be designed to detect pellets accurately, hence the difference in price from the paintball one.

I appreciate this broadcast is over two years old when viewing today. All I want to know is where/what site can I buy the best/cheapest spare FX MAVERICK magazine in .25 calibre?
@robertdepalma73215 жыл бұрын
I’ve shot thousands of pellets both .25&.30 cal. competitively with the FX Crown with zero problems. What’s yours??
@airgunology5 жыл бұрын
.22 and .,177 FX Impact and I test many pellets from many different manufacturers and so I see problems every know and then with the old style magazines. I am not the only one and why else would FX change the mag system. If you find the right pellet, all is good, also not all older style FX mags are made equally.
@EDCandLace5 жыл бұрын
Agree 100%, i have 4 of the OG crown mags and have used them without issue since the crown first came out. I have 3 of the new crown mags that I got when i bought both my new .22 and .25 Crown Cont: with 700mm B liners shooting slugs. My MKII .22 700mm B liner Impact and my MKII .30 Impact of course use the Side shots and they are flawless in both Impacts. My first gen Impact .25 I still use the old mags as i have 5 of them and they again function flawlessly. I have never had pellet deforming issues with any of them or any related issues for that matter but will say loading the Sideshot mags is a whole lot faster. The only issue I've ever had with a FX Mag is i had one .30 mag that would not feed the last two shots about 10% of the time. It was the mag that came with my FX Boss and did it from day one. I bought two new mags for it and it was flawless from there on out and in the mag that would not cycle the last two shots i would just load 7 shots in it when i used it. As far as performance i 100% agree Daystate mags are the best but it has its flaw to being low shot count and when comparing costs of the Side shots to the Daystate and Brocock mags are more costly. I own a .22 and a .25 Daystate Red Wolf HPs being the only Daystate guns i own and i love them and the mags are second to none the Sideshot mags just hold so many shots and perform perfectly. I really enjoy the mags on my .25 poly barreled HM1000X LRT and Hubbies .22 and .30 HM1000 LRT. They are way over priced but they shoot as good as single loading and that is the only mag i can say that about, you won't notice a difference shooting a HM1000X LRT with single load or mag they will group the same and no other mag that i have ever used can say that. But 80 bucks they cost and manufacturing costs can't be much more then Benjamin Mrod mags that are 15 dollars a piece.

It does seem expensive but the last time I bought a brocock magazine it was £36. To get the same capacity I would have to buy four of them costing over a £100.
@airgunology5 жыл бұрын
Yup, magazines from FX are expensive, but this new one is very well made, still overpriced tho
@surreallife7776 ай бұрын
I just purchased an fx impact Mark II but it comes with the smaller magazines is it true since this video was made that FX has improved the magazine for slug use cuz the slugs are quite loose in the old magazines?
@happyhalfwit88625 жыл бұрын
I have never had a problem with the basic mag and I have serious ham fists. Yes it can be a bit fiddly but with 18 shots you aren’t having to load it as often. Plus the fx mag is the only one that I get the same group from vs single loading. This is def an improvement but as a crown user not worth the money for me as the only pellet mine doesn’t like is the predator. For good mag design I have to agree with the HW and also love the Daystate ones but alas the rifles are now a bit behind the new FX guns
@airgunology5 жыл бұрын
Yeah for the Crown, the only benefit would be the easier loading of the mags.

I never had a problem with the old style magazine until I recently got some different pellets from the scratch and dent section.... Now it won't even shoot them
@bellshooter5 жыл бұрын
The new system is easier to use, but still uses the pellets as a rotation stop (like all cassette style mags) , so skirt damage can still happen. The Daystate/Brocock system uses a separate indexing system.
@airgunology5 жыл бұрын
yup, it is better but as I said not perfect and a long way short of DayState and others.

@@airgunology , as a Brocock owner I can say now here I am waiting on a replacement magazine for my Bantam as the first one I got was misaligned and shaved pellets.Everyone talks about the Brocock magazine like it's all that,but I'm not impressed.You can double load,you can fire from an empty magazine,or if you're unlucky like me,you can get a poor quality control magazine that shaves pellets.Personally,I will be purchasing several extra C.A.R.M aftermarket magazines for my Bantam.They are 9 shot instead of 10 but I can get 3 of them for the price of one Brocok OEM

The Sideshot mags are great. The old FX mags was usable but that's it... Sideshots are great, they do not harm pellets, they feed perfectly and smoothly they also load quickly.

If you drop a pellet in the wrong way, place the clear cover over the magazine, placing the whole over the upside-down pellet.

Yeah you may be. I have 3 old mags, 1 out of the 3 actually works as expected, the other 2 don't accept pellets well or the springs are constantly slacking off. Also none of my older mags will accept Sovereign pellets or clip them badly.

Hi Steve, do you need to leave the small rubber balls in the impact to secure the original mags?
@airgunology5 жыл бұрын
Not sure what you mean mate. This is just the bottom plate replacement only and the old and new mags work.
@rbovenzi5 жыл бұрын
Steve Allan on the mark 1 Impacts there are 6 black rubber balls in t the magazine well (not sure what else to call the bit you insert the magazine into). They on on the same side as the barrel and the balls are sunken half way and help secure the original mags in place. Hope that makes a bit more sense, sorry. Cheers

So am I to understand that FX designed a crappy magazine and then they designed a fix for it that they're going to charge us how much for it?..... Is that how it's going to play out?
@aboutthemetal87835 жыл бұрын
Ive never had a fx magazine fai but I always had to shoot the first pellet away But I do agree how it was a pain in the backside to load up
@airgunology5 жыл бұрын
Interesting about the 1st shot, I also do this as it never seats properly as you have to load it differently initially into the magazine.
