Edit: So, on 8th gen consoles for WCMLS, it’s looking like the class 66 seems to have been cut entirely from service mode, including the 1972 tube stock. 💀💀 damn

@trainsimsociety 🤔. Anyways my xbox handles some routes badly but most are fine and still smooth enough for my standards, and I have a few busy routes like London commuter and southeastern high speed that work fine, so I'm sure they could add them in even if it meant a small bit of lag! They're probably being lazy because I'm sure my console could handle it! Now I have to miss out on more layers 🙄🙄

@@ElijahsTransportno 8th gen cannot handle the memory requirements needed for the extensively long freight trains on wcml. Therefore, unfortunately they have had to be cut from the timetable mode.

I have an idea! You know how fifa 14 came out on the ps2? It was the same game as fifa 13. So, maybe dovetail can sell a cheaper version if TSW that has the same features as the previous. Routes that come out for it would be shorter and less frequent, but it will still be supported!

With the new timelapse of Frankfurt station, this is making me more excited for the German route than the Uk route!

The BR 423 doesn‘t even run on lines S8 and S9, except in very rare cases. 😭 The only lines that use this train on a regular basis are lines S2, S3, S4, S5, and S6.

The ICE T sounds will probably be quite boring because the end cars aren't motorised, so all you will realistically hear is the Aircon and the sounds of the levers/switches, and a little bit of the brakes

Need to remember that UE4 is final developed. UE5 isnt yet in a state for them to use all the code they have... Maybe with TSW6 we get it.
@QuantumPlatypus423 ай бұрын
Probably not, all assets meaning all routes would have to be remade in order to transition, which would take many years.

I tend to leave German routes for a sale as I'm not desperate for them, but this one looks half decent. Shame the UK and US routes can't be done to the same standard for some reason?
@potatoman4513 ай бұрын
You've only seen a short snippet of the route and an article. You didn't see any gameplay to compare it to the other 2. It could have the same issues, but you can't tell before it's shown. The US route is pretty good. It's got all the traffic and freight. It might not be the funnest route and there are big issues, but it's not terrible. Wcml is also decent even though the timetable issue is the most prominent. We still haven't seen the german footage

I think the reason they wont switch to Unreal Engine 5 (yet atleast) because most of the playerbase (including myself) couldn't play the game if it was in Unreal 5 due to higher system requirements needed to run the game Well (or at all for that matter).
@CrazyPierre893 ай бұрын
I think the reason is that it would not bring any improvement to the game. It needs certain ways an ingame world would have to be built to really shine with the new features like LUMEN. Most games are built this way: With hard assets and to some degree even high resolution meshes from 3D scans. Route maps are built in a different way. With many splines, let's say "soft" meshes you can drag and bend, like streets or fences. LUMEN doesn't work right with that. Also to really look better it would need better assets which could also look great in UE4. People quickly forget that UE4 can also look really great or even photoreal. If it is used right. UE5 is just hyped right now because Epic showed us what is possible with it. But that does not mean that every game in UE5 looks super realistic. Fortnite runs on UE5 and in my opionion TSW looks more realistic than that. :D

While I'm not a big fan of DTG and their "way of EA" I don't support the demand for a switch to UE5. The version of UE4 DTG is using is a highly modified version that grew over years. Switching version would mean starting over from the beginning and I don't see DTG having the capacity for that right now. Also I don't see the big gain from switching over. UE5 CAN look great, sure. But UE4 can as well. 5 brings LUMEN which is better lighting - for a certain performance cost. Will it even work well with TSW Maps and fast moving trains? I'm not sure about that. LUMEN doesn't work with splines yet (bendable and dragable objects like streets, fences etc) and TSW is full of those. UE5 is no magical toolbox that makes everything look great. It needs worlds built in a certain way to shine with the new lighting. For TSW I would prefer a better routebuilding with better assets. This could shine in UE4 as well. Edit: Also an engine switch usually brings a ton of bugs with it. And don't we have enough of those?
@Atrail_Mckinley47863 ай бұрын
Well said. Moving to UE5 is completely unnecessary, and DTG has said themselves that they won't do it as it won't bring much changes. They haven't even unlocked the full potential of UE4.

Re: UE5, they'd have to redo every single piece of content to make it work with the new engine. Either that, or start from zero

It's a bit difficult to put a more services in when you don't own the licences for those services. It's the same with the Frankfurt route it's busy in real life it's a lot busier because of more services of third party companies that is not in the game because we don't have the licences... Geezs u should like a broken record sometimes
