The fact that it is soft-touch plastic on the palm rest instead of metal as g15 has is just beyond cheap ass. I was a little bit disappointed that g15 had plastic cover on the bottom, and here we go, even less metal :/

You are correct to be worried about the heat being blasted onto the screen. In colder climates it 'may' be ok, but definitely a deal breaker for hot and humid ones. Nevertheless, the general rule that has not changed as far as I know, is that more heat = less lifespan of components.
