Used to use shin and oxtail in all my slow cooked beef dishes before both cuts became 'fashionable' because it was so cheap. Now it's as expensive as the majority of premium beef cuts. Mr and the lads at my local butchers were talking about it too long ago. They blame Jamie Oliver !! Poor old Jamie, he does get some stick.. 😂😂😂😂. Looked good mate. Stay safe.

When I was young, I had an aunt who made who was a supervisor at a clothing company that made clothing for the M&S range of clothing. She said when their inspectors came around they were very demanding of quality, I presume it's the same for their food. Costly ok but if you consider that compared to say one of the more expensive burgers from McDonalds is it?

Watcha Gaz. I've grown celeriac in the past, but by heck they have lots of roots, but very tasty. I'll eat it raw in salad or cooked - mash or roasted. I'll have to get some braising steak and whack it in the slow cooker to make a nice casserole like that. Mind how you go mate ❤

PS regarding the price, yes, add some mash to this, as you did, a nice crusty buttered roll and you have a substantial meal. Really, it's cheap if you can eat like this for £6.00 ... Nothing much more important than what you put in your belly. I think that £42 / week is a pretty good price for you main meal of the day. Much better than junk. Keep 'em coming - I'm sure as more people are becoming aware of the false economy of ultra processed shite (esp. on your health) these type of reviews are much more valuable than how many pieces of slime you can get for £1.49

Evening Gareth £6 for the beef shin !Expensive! The gastro stuff I have had from M and S has been too expensive and over rated. Beef shin is a cheap cut or was before M and S got hold of it! Bone marrow use to be really cheap but fashionable now so way too expensive. See you have designer carrots in the meal! I wont buy Gastro anymore. I know you enjoyed the meal but carrots cheap, onion, cheap shin cheap slow cooked so its bound to be tender.
