After buying the XR920P last week I have already shot over a thousand rounds at four nightly COF’s plus some day practice. It’s fantastic. I changed the included back strap to raise the grip angle, which works better for me. Compared to my G45 with ramjet… similar in recoil. Everything else about the SS is simply superior to the Glock. From the irons to the slide cuts, to the optic mounting, stippling, trigger and enlarged guard, zero malfunctions after the first 21 with four different ammo types…. Just great! Your excellent review definitely steered me in this direction as I never had a Shadow previously. Thanks!!

Going into getting my first gun, I had already decided it'd be a Glock. I love the minimalist design, grip angle, feel, shootability and reliability. So, in 2020, my first pistol was a G19 Gen 5. I loved it. Learned about Shadow earlier this year and now I've owned my War Poet MR920 for 3 months now. Love it way more than my Glock. Shadow is truly the best upgrade.

I have 2 shadows. One with the radian ramjet. I really like how clean these firearms look with tue new comp. I hate off looking comps on pistols. Different color than factory slides, hangs out way longer. This thing looks clean. Same slide cuts, same color, and it's all housed inside the dust cover. Very clean good looking gun. I might have to add a 3rd lol

Bought the SS DR920 a few days ago and couldn't be more pleased. More comfortable to the hand than other clones I have tried. Trigger is very smooth, breaking at about 4.25 lbs. Reset is good, tactile and audible. Will be adding an optic in a few days. Great gun!

I like how compact and efficient it is, with TLR 1. But at the same time, if I'm running a light like X300T, then the light will be quite a bit longer than the muzzle; not only does that end up not being as compact as the pistol itself can be, but it will also dirty up the lens of light quickly. For a full-sized pistol, ideally, I like the light to just pass the muzzle(maybe ~1/2" at the most?), so it helps prevent the slide from getting bumped out of the battery. That's where the factory add-on comp to the MR920 shines.

Love Shadow Systems, MR920 tradition series was a good intro for their glock 19 clone. Running a custom glock 17 and planning on dropping in a comp barrel/microcomp by Radian IF YOU WANT TO BEAT THE TRIGGER, DROP IN A TIMNEY ALPHA! wish I'd just started with the XR920P and may still get one though -- but I was able to beat some shadow systems features with the original gen 5 g17, some replicated like grips Bang for your buck is shadow systems no doubt but my Glock 17 is set up very specifically for home invasion situations. Works great for that.

When I bought my XR, I didn't even shoot it before I threw a Zafirri gold threaded barrel and their Norwal compensator on it. I bought the Foundation series, so I'm essentially less than $800 into my build (minus optics and lights and such) and it's a show stealer at the range. All of my buddies try to claim it's "theirs". Now I can just tell em SS makes one from the factory.

The new one pairs better with TLR1, and the factory add-on comp pairs better with X300T. Otherwise, too much light beyond the muzzle is meanless and will get super dirty.

Looks great in almost every way except I wish they would have kept the standard XR920 dust cover in case you ever wanted to take the comp off. The ramjet option might be overpriced but at least if you wanted to take it off you still have a gun that works without.

They are very similar can’t say you should rush and grab one it you already have a set up but if you want one or don’t have one, you should opt for this over that.

Or, you can do what I did and just buy a PSA Dagger S frame and slide (ported and threaded barrel included) for about $280. Then spend the other $900 on a comp, RDS, new trigger a few hundred rounds of 9mm and still have money left over

I personally like the XR920P more. I think it’s a smoother, more controlled recoil cycle. There isn’t any muzzle dip like the DR920P

They both shoot great! I think the AXG legion is the best duty pistol option for a 320 and the XR920P is the best duty pistol option from shadow systems. If I had to pick one…man thats tough. Probably the SS because it’s about a pound lighter for the a flatter shooting gun.

They want to offer it separately but they can't afford to take away from their complete firearm production as just machining the comp takes more time than to machine an entire slide. They also are planning to redesign the comps shape to fit the original 920 slides whenever they grow enough to offer the barrel and comp separately.

It’s a lot flatter shooting. You could fire one round from the XR920P after shooting a DR920 and notice the difference immediately.

I honestly think the trigger for Shadow Systems is a major improvement over the Glock trigger. I have three Glocks one is gen 3 and the other 2 are gen 5. I also have two Shadow Systems, one is an Elite series and the other is a Foundation series. I really like the Shadow Systems triggers.

Ive never owned a Glock before and i think this will be my first one I'm just not sure if i should go with the xr920p or the mr920p.(I have somewhat bigger hands so i know i want a bigger grip) I kind of would like it as an all rounder for defense and range but also be able to CC often. From my experience with the DR920 after about 300 rounds, Hope they updated the trigger on the newer models. The Shadow System triggers are not great, considering the rest of the polish of the gun.

What's your thoughts on having the XR920P as an edc pistol. Im seeing and hearing and getting mixed emotions on pistols that are either comp or ported and / or both on using them for an edc pistol. Right now, im still in the process of shooting my XR920P and getting to know it. Now, I am getting mix emotions of having it a part of my edc line. But! Then again. My Smith&Wesson M&P9 2.0 carry comp after 1,100 rounds thru it. Has shown no signs of it being a problem for an edc pistol that's comp. Then again. It's a built-in comp and port, not a slip-on like the XR920P.

I have The DR920 P and yes I had to Run 200 RDS of 124 gr minimum jammed often but at 180 it was Flawless now 115 gr work fine . Ihave Most Handugns $3,000 is my limit CZ Staccato But The shadow system is my favorite . Now they have Me curious again .i have an SRO on my De 920 P . The Canik Rival Darkside has a better Trigger,But again The DR 920 P just fits my Hand and i like it Best .

Buying a stock Glock is still worth it 2024. It comes down to reliability. My brother and I tested a dr920 but ultimately let it go. We just kept having issues and failures with it as well as issues with a friend’s. I want to like shadow systems but I tell everyone to test theirs hard before they carry it.

That’s what stops me from buying a Shadow Systems. On paper, this ticks all the right boxes. But then I see people reporting reliability issues fairly often with them. Of course Glocks can have reliability issues too, but it seems to be the exception with them. Without Glock-level reliability, there are other models on the market that offer many additional benefits over a Glock, or Glock-clone, while still being extremely reliable (CZ, Walther, S&W, Sig). That said, this thing still looks nice and still very tempted 😆

How many rounds are putting thru it? Shadow Systems does openly state that all their firearms have a 200-300 round break in period, that being said, I have only ever had 1 failure to feed from my xr920 and that was likely the mag, other than that ive had no issues from mine

The way I view shadow systems is they offer the options glock users want from the factory. Glock should offer a g45 variant like this instead of letting competitors capitalize on their lack of innovation…. especially on their own platform. I love Glock but would rather go this route than buying a g45 and modifying to this extent

I purchased CR920XP. I’m having trouble finding a holster. What I am finding, and so far seems to be accurate, Shadow Systems has sent cease and desist letters to the blue gun manufacturers. Therefore only their contracted supplier has them and it appears that at the moment they are not available to anyone outside of a preferred list. I definitely like the pistols but I’m more than a little irritated with the apparent holster issue.

I’m not sure why but the Shadow Systems “P” models shoot noticeably flatter than my Radian Ramjet Afterburner equipped Glocks

It does shoot flatter indeed. That has some to do with the grip and comp design

DR920 P is better. Larger comp with an island front sight and just as easy to cc

Just as easy to CC? Not quite. The DRP is great no doubt but they are different. The front sight configuration means little with a red dot.

If I have one knock against Shadow systems pistols its the polymer mag well. Compensator is cool but not necessary.

Yeah I think an aluminum Magwell which is larger is nice for competitive use!

Soooooo… have you shot the Zev Hypercomp? Curious to see a XR920P vs Hypercomp video that would be a showdown right there! Do you like Zev??

That would be a great vs. or head to head video. I have not shot that pistol, I imagine it’s good but highly doubt it’s 600 bucks better or better at all. Comps generally speaking, are more effective than ports like on the Hypercomp. Zev is a good company and with good products but their gun are climbing into the overpriced for a striker fired gun category for me personally. Definitely good stuff tho

@@HuntFishShootChannel yeah you could get the Bul Armory 4.25” Tac 1911DS or the OA defense 2311 compact for the same price. I guess when you look at it like that it’s pretty eye opening lol. I’m super intrigued by Zev but I do wish their Hypercomp was $1200 max I’d say would be fair. Pretty much same price as the best Shadow Systems is what it should be really. Thanks for the reply!

Glock is becoming the modern day Colt. They are their own destroyer, as they are 10 steps behind the market, in every way. From innovator to worst in class. Fanboys will disagree, but it's true. They live on reputation and name at this point, but everything goes bang, nowadays. Hopefully, they do something in the near future to improve. The new 19x is a good start, steel supressor height night sights and threaded barrel.

@The2AExperiment well it’s true. I have shot Glocks since the original Gen 3s and they haven’t changed in any level of significance. The MOS system sucks and there’s an aftermarket because their plates suck. The new 19x is definitely a step but it’s a baby one. They are fully capable of competing with their number one competitor, Sig and the 320. Glad we agree!

@@HuntFishShootChannelyou mention it’s G17 size in your video. I always thought G17 was a full size larger pistol to carry. If I order one I can’t get hands on. Just would hate to get a tough one to carry lol.
