Two years ago, after being on the Glock platform since ‘99, I sold them all, and replaced them with five Shadow Systems guns from the discontinued Combat line, two of them MR920’s, a DR920, an XR920, and a CR920. (The latter I bought used at the same Scheels you bought your MR920 from). All of them, except for the CR, have the smallest grip attachment, simulating a 1911 grip angle. I have ZERO regrets about switching from Glock to Shadow Systems. We’ll disagree on the PMags, but excellent review.😎✌️

The MR920 Elite with the Radian Ramjet and Afterburner is the complete package. I’ve shot both the MR920P and the MR920 with the Radian afterburner and while it’s just a slight difference the Radian still works better at recoil. With the barrel being ported and then adding the comp it makes it perfect. Superb engineering by Radian. MR920P also shoots flat just not as flat as the Afterburner because the barrel is not ported. That is what makes the difference.

Shadow Systems has their own compensator that goes onto their threaded barrel, it’s a bit longer and not as good looking as the Radian compensator but it’s at a fraction of the price and it works just as good. I’ve used both the Shadow Systems and the Radian comps and they shoot damn near identical, the only difference is price and length. My SS MR920 is for “cold weather” edc because of the added length of the comp and the polymer frame and my CZ P-01 is carried the rest of the year and that thing is an absolute BEAST, the SS doesn’t even compare because I’ve turned it into essentially a small carry race gun with a dot. But the SS is a great alternative to Glocks and the trigger is slightly better out of the box, I’ll be putting a Ramm Tactical trigger in it soon to try out something new.

I have the same pistol, also bought it in early 2020. I agree 100% with everything you said about this pistol except… While in general, I feel the exact same way about aftermarket mags for anything really, especially Glocks, but the PMag is NOT an aftermarket mag for the Shadow Systems, it is the “Factory Mag”, meaning the gun was tested and designed around it. Not only that, but if one were to run the 15 rd G19 mags in the pistol, while they will work fine, in the event of a type 3 malfunction, or something that jams the gun up and the mag with it, there is no way to get a purchase on the bottom of the mag (if your also running the Shadow Systems included magwell). With the longer mags as you show it is not an issue. All that being said, I have dozens of both factory Glock mags from G19’’s to the 33 rounders and also dozens of PMags in 15, 17, 22 and 27 rounders and they all seem to function fine. I may have had 1 or 2 malfunctions in the time I’ve had this gun. I shot IDPA with it a couple years and USPSA with it for as few years as well. My wife and I are pistol instructors and I use it as my range gun while teaching and when I train, it is my primary pistol as well. All that to say it’s seen more rounds than I can attempt to estimate. You sir are correct, this is a very fine pistol, for just about anything you wish to use it for. I would say however that the PMag, when used with a Shadow Systems pistol, should not be looked at as aftermarket but as the stock mag and 0 reliability is lost to using these over the Glock mags. If anything, and it’s splitting hairs because the gun runs practically flawlessly on any mags, I’d say the PMag is slightly more reliable than the Glock mag. Thats right, slightly MORE reliable than a glock mag (IN A SHADOW SYSTEMS PISTOL). In a Glock, NO, Glock mags are superior. Anyway, to anyone looking to purchase a shadow systems pistol I would say absolutely do it. The only drawback is that you will probably never buy a Glock again as shadow is making about every version of 9mm Glock that Glock makes now and then some. I know I wouldn’t dream of buying a new Glock when for $300 more I could have a shadow. That’s my thoughts. God bless

I am a remorseful buyer of a MR 920 elite. I bought it brand new. And had issues with it immediately out of the box, initially chalked it up to break in issues. 600 rounds later, the problems with light striking, and the gun not going into battery still kept happening. I shipped it to shadow systems using an FFL, the gun was gone for 3 1/2 weeks without any update on whether it made it there or not. The gun then came back the paperwork saying it had a bad firing pin, took it back to the range and instantly had the exact same problems all over again…….within shots. I tried calling for a refund and they told me they’d want to look at the gun again so now I am shipping it to them for a second time to see if they can actually do the job correctly this time. Furthermore, the BUL's trigger is nothing short of phenomenal for a Glock clone! And it's just $620!

I keep waiting and trying, but I guess I’ll never own the Hatchet. Just like I’ve missed out on both versions of their comped SASII Lightweight. Never ever in stock, then each were discontinued. I am setup for restock email alerts but have never gotten one email. I guess I’ll never own a BUL.

@@JimSkeltonKnives The AXE FS HATCHET - SILVER is in stock right now. And I prefer the AXE FS HATCHET to the "C" model! Also, yes, I know that the BUL SAS II UL Comp 3.25" is hard to find. I got mine about 10 months ago, when they were consistently in stock...

Literally about to do the opposite... selling my Bul hatchet (despite the grip being onr of my favorite features) to get this gun.

For EDC shadow systems is a no. Quality control needs work and their customer service is terrible. Weird reliability issues on different batches which make it inconsistent.
@AtoZEDCreviews4 ай бұрын
@@jaimesalgado9666 historically, this isn’t true. I’m sorry if you had a bad experience, but gathering stories from owners online and from reviewers known for not taking $ for praise tells a different story. And while I only have a sample size of two with the pistols I’ve bought, I’ve had no issues to speak of.

Good point however for me it’s the inconsistency that bothers me

Id rather build my owen out of a glock .
@AtoZEDCreviewsАй бұрын
I don’t know who Owen is, but as I discussed in the video, you’ll spend hundreds more to do the same things in a stock Glock, and some things that cannot be achieved on a Glock because Shadow Systems makes all of their own components and parts themselves here in Texas. They do so, in order to create things like the direct mount optic cut slide for every major mount footprint there is, and to mount low. The extractor channel that Glock has prevents this from being a reality. The angle of the rear of the slide to eliminate an area that can typically print when concealed, and so many other things. I’ve owned and carried Glocks since the 90s and now own exactly none because Shadow Systems made them irrelevant for me.

That’s a stupid statement don’t buy a great gun in case you have to use I want the best gun on my worst day

Well, the world is full of stupid people. They came out and voted in droves in 2020. So yeah, plenty of people have said that stupid crap. I’ll never get it. Of course I don’t WANT to lose a couple thousand dollar gun, but I want the precision and reliability of that level of gun on the off-chance it needs to be called up to action.

Why buy a $500 Glock when you can buy a $1000 clone? I’m sure it’s a nice pistol.
@JimSkeltonKnives6 ай бұрын
Upgrading a standard Glock to this level (most of these are common mods Glock owners do), prices you about $300 more expensive than the MR920 Elite and on top of that, some things on this pistol can’t even be done on the Glock (such as the optics mounting setup)

@@JimSkeltonKnives I know dude. SS is Glock perfection “perfected.” I just think it’s funny. Building a G17 now and I’m already $1200 in. Hopefully somebody will make a ported and threaded barrel for the Gen 5 soon.
