Eighteen years ago.. this is a bunch of guys in their early twenties finding their way. And they’ve found their way :) This is part of their evolution.. but it’s also an incredible song, and displays how tight they were live even at a young age. Personally I’m drawn to their middle three albums - From Mars to Sirius, The Way of All Flesh, and L’Enfant Sauvage.

Gojira was a death metal band at first, but they changed the sound in a progresive way keeping some elements, i love both

I'm glad you are enjoying this band overall enough to even listen to their older material. We can ask for things all day as fans, but it means a lot to see that you are actually finding something new that interests you. We all have our own songs or aspects of their songs that resonate with us personally. I just appreciate that you are honest. If it were TOOL we in the Army can get aggressive if you don't like a song (LOL) but Gojira... we are then understanding people.

As a recent Gojira fan, I disagree, Joe's voice was much more linear in the past and had less color, as the band got older his voice got more flavour and I've started to enjoy them more and more. So I'm in the same boat as you, they used to be more "death metall-ish", but as the band matured they evolved IMO. What I mean is not all of Gojira fans were fans of their earlier stuff :P

@@dannytheswedishmusixian1513 2008, you might not like it I'm unsure. Its quite technically impressive. You should do "the art of dying" next though for sure. You may like "oroborus" and "esoteric surgery" judging by your taste. But there are so many other good songs. I mean you can't go wrong with any of them. Some of them take a few listens to get into for sure.

Honnête réaction. I like the old Gojira and i like the new Gojira. The last album is the perfect mix between the old and the new world. As you know sometimes you need some time and several listens to appreciate a track. It happened to me with this track and other tunes. Of course sometimes you like a song right away too. Anything is possible. Remembrance is still pretty interesting and good with good changes, interesting experimentations. They have other songs with more originality and transitions like The art of dying. I like this performance in Bordeaux with the good energy from the crowd. Still a high level performance and groovy headbanging hypnotic riffs for transe.

The drumming is good, but overall the music sounded monotone. I couldn't understand much of the lyrics so I can't even say if the message was any good.

ah shit , your reaction of the heaviest mater of universe got blocked :/ well with live versions it should not happen ( well actually no ..just in my country France , i had to use a vpn to see the video ) ..well yeah ..Remembrance is very death metal ..like the first two albums ..they started to really have the gojira sound in From Mars to Sirius and experiment with some more melodic track ( but let's be honest there is still some growling singing and stuff ) then the next album "the way of all flesh " followed that evolution " and more on 'lenfant sauvage "( you liked "the gift of guilt " and it's on "lenfant sauvage ") and more on magma " so yeah you will notice that if you listen to all those albums :)
