Gojira are a very environmental band. Lots of lyrics about nature and the nature of our existence on the planet.

Gojira is a different breed and in their own lane. They make music, that, at first seems like a bunch of off beat noise. There truly is a method to the madness, and they bring it all to the next level. They quickly became a favorite band last year, as i came to understand them more, for me. Yes, only last year (for all those who've listening for years). I grew up on the classics...but it's amazing how much more interesting heavy music is out there these days.

Same with me pretty much... I've been listening to heavy metal for like 10 years now... and when i discovered this guys about a year ago and really got into they changed me completely. Their concept albums reveal so much about humanity through well-written stories that apparently don't seem related to anything.

Such great choices for your first two Gojira reaction songs! I'm sure it won't take long before the "Flying Whales" chant starts, but when you do, choose from their live set at Brixton Academy. I'm pretty dismissive of growling vocals too, but there's something about Gojira where it just works so well.

Gojira is a weird one, their music is often really heavy, but their lyrics deal with philosophy, protecting nature and just generally being better people. Not really the combination you'd expect, but it works for them :D They also have more melodic songs, for example I'd recommend you check out "Born In Winter", "A Sight To Behold" and "Global Warming" to get a good understanding of their repertoire in general.

As a longtime (nearly 40 years) musician myself I totally understand people having a hard time digesting different musical styles. The "screaming" that seems to turn so many people off heavier music is, as Kel mentioned, absolutely essential to the true message of the music. It's like how blues and jazz singers seem to almost "cry" in their vocals. Singers in heavier music are doing the same thing... releasing emotion. This vocal style is all about releasing power, pain, anger and joy. The screaming, or growling, is just that release of pure emotion. If you want to listen to music with no soul or emotion listen to almost every radio station and awards show. The only thing that lives in 99% of popular music (albeit pop, country, etc.) is dollar signs. Just my two pennies. Cheers.

I'm not even kidding, I only recently found your channel (LOVE it btw) and just today I searched your videos to see if there were any Gojira reactions, and much to my dismay, there were none, and now you upload this LOL!. Seriously, I think Gojira is one of the best bands to come out of any metal scene in the past 15-20 years. I was so stuck on the old classics for years and found a lot of modern metal annoying, with every band beginning to sound the same to me. Then I found bands like Gojira a couple years ago and it revived my love for music. I never looked back, and now have a ridiculous collection of both new and old stuff. The more you listen to this band, the more you'll love them. They started out with mostly death metal stuff, similar to Morbid Angel, but also influences from Death, Pantera, Sepultura and Metallica. That mix results in such beautiful and creative metal. They have that extra oomph/IT factor. That special thing that only bands like Sabbath, Maiden, Metallica and Pantera had in the past. They have songs that will no doubt send chills up and down your spine. Plus, they have one of the best drummers on planet earth right now (Mario Duplantier) who happens to be the brother of Joe, the frontman. Two geniuses for sure. you must do some live show reactions of Gojira in the future, as they're one of the tightest and most powerful live bands there is, even beating the studio versions of the songs imo. Adore this channel btw. The reactions are so genuine and passion filled. Kel is getting a great metal education on here :D

I would have loved that show. I'm a huge fan of Gojira's and I'm 61. My boys played a song for me and their drummer is FIRE. Try Amazonia. That will be more Kel friendly lol They have mellowed since Magma and From Mars To Sirius. You really need to get into this band. They are truly excellent. Super Mario Duplantier is on drums. Seriously, you could not have picked a louder or harsher song to start her journey into this band. I LOVE Gojira but when Joe (Duplantier) tells his brother Mario to "GO!!" He really goes on this song (Backbone). It's brutal.

Two importat songs for Gojira (for them personally): Global Warming: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bnXMiK2sepplkLs Low Lands: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bZuTZJ-ra7h1iJo The first they never play it live because it is emotionally heavy. The second is about the death of Mario (drummer) and Joe´s (singer guitarrist) mother (the are brothers). She died in 2015 during the recording of "Magma". The second video is located in their real old home and the surrounding area (I live 50 miles south from there and visit that seaside often).

I had L4L5 PLIF surgery 10/27/17....a friend suggested Gojira's "Magma" album to me for when I did my rehabbing. 6 days a week , for 5 months, up at 4am , I mixed Gojira into my workout playlist. I'm not unfamiliar with the heavy world of metal, having been there from it's infancy. I listened to plenty of it, along with hardcore punk, and later bands like Pantera, and Death, Meshuggah, and Strapping Young Lad.... I lost interest in the 90s , and had moved on to other things. Gojira brought back my appreciation for aggressive , HEAVY music ( though I am VERY selective). I can listen to Tears For Fears in the morning, Gojira at noon, and Riverside in the evening. You either like a song, or you don't. And at 51, I like variety. And Kel, you nailed it ! Just like with classical, and modern through contemporary, it's not all pretty. But often it's the best way to express an emotion. #Painintheass Riverside Escalator Shrine

@matthewgodding777
@matthewgodding777 5 жыл бұрын
@@aykutaydogdu269 such an awful name for a genre... Alcest have such a dreamy sound, its very trance inducing. Blackgaze (when i think of boring as shite bands like deafheaven) just doesn't seem to fit. They're like ulver in that they get lumped into black metal and its subgenres because at some a while back, that's what they were, but they don't really fit anywhere anymore because they really are just off doing their own thing. Bit like devin in that sense too. It's also a failure resulting from metal journalist's need (for marketing purposes: music journalism is advertising, same as video game journalism) to package everything, but metal bands having a tendency to just do their own thing that we end up with these endlessly bifurcating sub genres. Alcest are alcest. They play metal. Same as cannibal corpse and deftones play metal. It's a testament to how vast the genre's space is the difference between those 3 bands and that that doesn't even come close to the extremes. Anyway, rant about sub genres over. It's nonsensical, but we have a need to pack things into nice little boxes. Ironic given the spirit of metal is 'fuck the rules' that it has the most ridiculous number of subgenres.

You'll never translate the growls. Im 20 years into this noise and i can't tell what they're screaming half the time. It's a percussive/rythmic addition. When you know the lyrics its great, and its done best when there's a sense of desperation to the sound of the growl/scream. Try mgła - exercises in futility 1. Great rock amplified to black metal level. Bleak nihilism and lyrics that really scan like damned good poetry which is incredible seeing he's writing not in his first language. And the vocalist tends not to hold notes which emphasises the rythmic properties. Plus it sounds like an angry deity proselytising to a crowd bowing in fear. I always picture the growl vocalists on mountaintops in heavy storms screaming at the sky. Also behemoth. Great band. God=dog and blow your trumpets gabriel. Or bartzabel if you want to like them on first listen...

@@Kel.N.RichReactions I didn't mean wrong in that way. I meant it jokingly. There is no right way. It's just my opinion that people should start with the most emotional songs when getting introduced to a band. I've listened to every Gojira song about 1000 times, and if I were show someone two songs, I'd show them those two. Not saying that what you picked was bad or wrong, just my opinion that you should try those two sometime ;)

Burpimg im a mic?
