LOVE the simple design for the high vibration motor! I used to placer mine in Tule Canyon, Nevada, and had designed a mini wash plant that would sit in the back of my truck (with the feeder hanging over my tailgate) so all I had to do was back right up and literally push the feeder into the side of the dirt wall and start feeding it right in. I had thought of using a trommel to break up the hard clay lumps...but I think your compact, high vibration motor setup would be way better! Less parts to break also. Very cool sir!

Unfortunately no video of it exists, and its long since been recycled for parts. You are right though, almost every miner I know is always thinking up some kind of contraption to aid in gold recovery. I've been a fabricator for over 30 years and one day I'll have the time to sit down and build all the different ideas I've come up with over the years, and a lot of them relate to mining. Take care!

Hi John. Glad you enjoyed the video. Since this was posted, I replaced the vibrator with a new compact and efficient device purchased on eBay. It's a 12 volt concrete vibrator that can lift 200 lbs at 7000 rpm ! It's too violent for the shaker, so I installed a 10amp speed controller. Works amazingly well at 3500 rpm ! Rocks literally dance on the deck ! Hope to post a video of this soon. Best of luck to you prospecting !

What ever gets the job done is what ya want to do. What everyone else is doing may or may not be it. Obviously what your doing is working getting the job done for you. Get it done. ** Something you may want to check out. You will find some higher frequencies will tend to hold some material in suspension and won't actually settle or make it to the bottom.. I've actually used that phenomena to separate types of black sands. Only way to figure chit out would be to vary the motor speed and see what going on. Varying the Frequency by just a few Hz does things.

Hey, it might be a better idea to mount the vibratory motor 90 degrees perpendicular and rotating so that as the counterweight comes up and across the top in the same direction as the water flow. This would help the material "walk" down the hopper better and break up the clay better. I work at a sand and gravel wash quarry and every shaker design I've seen uses this kind of vibrating direction. It will help keep your punch plate from clogging up with stone a bit more by kicking the rocks up out of the holes if they won't fit through. Just a suggestion for improvements!

Thanks for the advice. I have already made the change a couple months ago and it works great ! Found a 12 volt concrete vibrator online that lifts 200 lbs at 7k rpm. More compact and simple compared to my design. It's too violent for the little shaker deck, so I installed a speed controller. Will post a video soon regarding the upgrade. I'm currently working on a dewater shaker deck to replace the dewater trommel. It's far more efficient and filters down to 400 mesh. In the testing phase now. Best of luck to you prospecting !

Hello Allan, New subscriber and LOVE your videos and your energy. I have not yet tried Gold Prospecting, but would like to some day soon. I Started off watching Jeff Williams' videos (so entertaining and I have been learning a lot about Gold Geology from him). I also watched many of "DOC"'s Gold Hog videos (and think that if I am able to stream pan I would like to try the Flow Pan), but living in San Diego, CA not sure what I will do. Maybe join the local group and join them on their outings. I LOVE your innovation. And the improvements. I even have a few suggestions, but since I know so little about Gold Prospecting not sure if they are something that will work. Anyway, here goes: * Conveyor Belt system to bring raw material up to the Shaker Deck. It could be used either on the ground, or on your new Trailer you are thinking of building. This way instead of bringing a shovel full of material us so high, the conveyor can do the hard work. Just fill the hopper on the ground and the conveyor does the rest. The speed and amount of material could be adjusted to give the maximum of material the Shaker can handle. With the trailer this conveyor could be long enough to reach all the way from top on trailer to the ground and X feet from the trailer. Then use a tractor with backhoe and Front Loader to get material from site to the trailer. * Centrifuge for cleaning water. If the water is left undisturbed long enough the sludge will settle out and leave clean water on top. A centrifuge will speed up this process. One that would expel the de-watered material would be best so no one needs to continually clean out the centrifuge. * Dump Lever on the discard tub. If you were to set up some kind of dump plate under the tub so it could be dumped when full instead of using a shovel to scoop the material out. I like the Shaker deck replacing the Trommel helping to remove water from the discard of the Sluice. I was thinking of something like this to use with the Trommel output, but getting rid of the Trommel altogether does simplify the set-up. You are doing a great job and giving all of us something to think about. Innovation breads more Innovation. I am very much looking forward to seeing more videos on this project. Even short updates, maybe even asking for viewers for comments and suggestions. In this way we may even find someone who knows where the exact Centrifuge needed for this project can be found. Or how to build the Conveyor that would work for this project. You never know what others can help with....

Hi Frank. Thank you for all the great suggestions ! Yeah, Jeff William's is quite a character, isn't he ? He has claims near mine, so we see each other occasionally. I also recommend Chris Ralph. He has a lot of helpful videos. If your not a gold prospector, you certainly need to be ! You're way ahead of most in the innovation department ! Many of your ideas I have considered. A conveyor would definitely be an optional accessory to the plant. I'm in a circle of engineers who are developing this. I've considered a centrifuge, however, it would take more energy, and be too bulky for the trailer mounted wash plant design I have in mind. However, it would definitely work ! My goal is to produce a simple product that extremely easy to handle and operate for the weekend prospector. Obviously, there's plenty of room for a production operator. 🤠 As I'm typing this message, I'm out at the claim battling the heat and filming the new dewater deck in action. You my sir have done it! I have been wanting to try this for a while now and was not sure how to make it all work now I do Thank you. This will work great for the nasty clay that I usually run here. So when I build mine I think I will try screen in the top and see how it works I know the screen reduces the amount of water you lose compared to the punch plate. Hi Alan ! Thanks for the kind compliments. Sounds like you're digging in the same gooey clay I'm working ! Let me know if I can help you with the shaker deck. I would advise not to use screen. I already tested it, and didn't work very well. The rocks had a hard time sliding down. Many plugged up the (1/4") screen. The punch plate makes a bit more slippery. As for water loss off the tailings shoot, I plan to shorten punch plate a 1/4" and bend the end downward, to create a small gap between the plate and tailings shoot. Water will dive onto sluice. Rocks larger than 1/4" will simply slide over the gap. Most of the -1/4" material will have already fallen through upstream. Good luck to you ! Post a video when you get it built ! 🤠👍👍👍

Hi Gary. I bought the motor, drive shaft, and bearings on eBay. Since this video I discovered a better 12 volt vibrator used to shaking concrete. It operates at 7,000rpm and can vibrate up to 200 lbs !! Too powerful for shaker deck, so I installed a 10 amp speed controller. At 3500 rpm it work great ! Will make a video about it soon. Bought it on eBay for $70, and controller for $10.

wish I got some gold today sampling a gossen (rust) just the way it is this took a lot of work I like it !!!! I thought I was doing good bringing a 10 gallon drum and a tub to pan in I can pan anywhere tie up the drum in the back of my truck (I have a bus tote) used to collect dirty dishes in a diner / hotel a 10 in pan or my super sluice how long does it take to put it together that huge tank holds a lot of water what like 500 gallons

That's how it goes when prospecting. Looks like you're well prepaired ! The shaker deck was much easier to build compared to a trommel. About half the time. Because it's a prototype, I spent extra hours working on it. Probably about 25 hours over a period of weeks. The water tank is 500 gallons, however, I only fill it half, and will last me all weekend. Hi Bill. Thanks for watching and the questions ! I believe trommels are the best for processing gooey clay. However, they require more labor to produce, take up more space, higher maintenance, and not as compact as a shaker deck. I chose the shaker deck because my goal is to produce a marketable trailer mounted wash plant that will be easy for the weekend prospector to set up and operate. In my next video, the dewater trommel disappears in favor of a more highly efficient system with substantial water savings. So, stay tuned for that ! In the meantime, checkout my latest wash plant video processing a cubic yard.

I heard you say this before and let it go , however now hearing it again , I have to tell you ; EMT is tubing , Your PVC is pipe , Pipe is measured inside diameter and Tubing is outside diameter , So 2 inch tubing will slide inside 2 in pipe . . To join them use JB WELD
