I bought my Blood red Ibanez AS-73 semi hollow body from a local guitar shop here in San Diego from a woman who showed up with TWO moving vans FULL of guitars she wanted to sell !! The back story was her husband had apparently been secretly buying up and storing guitars at a storage facility and one day she got a notice that the monthly storage was overdue. She went to investigate and found he had amassed quite the collection and since he apparently hadn’t been upfront about his “ Secret collection “ she loaded up the two vans to sell them and recoup the money . I bought it for $275 cash as the shop she was at bought a few grand worth from her that day & I have enjoyed it ever since . Yes , it IS a beast size wise , but it has playability ALL ITS OWN !! Thanks David as Always for sharing what you do , and Killer guitar you got man !! Sounds great😎👍

I got my first semi-hollow guitar in March of 2024, I'm embarrassed to say that I waited entirely too long to get one, I love this guitar. I got an Ibanez AS-93 for $699 from ZZounds, for the first three months I had it, I didn't play any of my other guitars. I went with the full size body, I did try some of the smaller semi-hollows, but I didn't really like them that much. I adjusted it to suit my preferences and it's been a great experience and I'm glad I finally got a 335-style guitar.

I have one of these in dark brown with the Supro pick ups, the middle position can deliver some fantastic jazzy blues tones, absolutely great little guitar and in your hands even greater, awesome playing as always Dave 🤘

i have one with an amazing flame top on it. it's a great guitar. the bridge pick up is insanely hot, but it's tame-able. the feedback is so controllable, i can't bring myself to change it. i bought it to play older blues stuff, but it does psychedelic stuff sooo well, that's mainly what i used it for. my only complaint is, now that arthritis has robbed me of my ability to play it, i can't sell it. no one wants it. here is a tip for those of you that have one. taylor makes an electric case that fits as though it was made for this guitar. it's very high quality. it's the only guitar in my collection that i wouldn't modify

What the actual f did you just play there until 3:10?!??! Yeah, walking bass jazz progressions with extended chords and probably substitutions. Got that, I guess. But why the hell did you hide THESE amazing skills from us for so long??? :D You are still able to suprise me consequently! Such a humble player and guy! Holding back his playing to be a non-discouraging teacher! ;) I think, I've just decoded you! Hahaha! ;-P Cheers from Germany, man! Keep it up! Markus

I have this exact same guitar but not the mini! Bought it about 4 years ago. Mine is a cherry sunburst flame top and it’s my only semi hollow guitar. It’s killer and it’s no one trick pony. You can play anything on it.

There’s something about when I can hear the strings even just a little bit mixed in with the amplified sound, it sounds brittle and thin. I struggle with this myself and noticed that same sound in this video. Am I even correct in what I’m hearing or is there something else my ear is getting annoyed by?I’ve delt with this myself for decades and never really articulated it but I’m curious to hear people’s thoughts on this….

It's not necessarily a "metal" guitar, but I think playing Stranglehold on it is entirely appropriate.

The grammar nazi in me has to point out that D is not a vowel. It's DAN-gelico. Like Duh-darrio. haha.
@LateNightLessons2 ай бұрын
Actually, that's not correct. I asked the guys at the booth at NAMM back in 2017 and all of them pronounced it D'Angelico. I even asked them specifically after they said it, since their guitars were on the cover of two of my books - and they said it again - it's DEE-AN-GELICO. The apostrophe after the "D" is there for a reason. There's also a more recent video here on KZbin with a woman that works for them at a NAMM show, and she pronounced it the same way. Just a heads up!
