CA Roster Requirements
No capacity over 10 rounds
Any center-fired handgun manufactured after January 1, 2006, must have a loaded chamber indicator or a magazine disconnect mechanism.
Any rimfire handgun manufactured after January 1, 2006, must have a magazine disconnect mechanism, if it has a detachable magazine.
Any center-fired handgun manufactured after January 1, 2007, must have both a loaded chamber indicator and a magazine disconnect mechanism if the handgun has a detachable magazine

California's 'safe handgun' requirements are nothing more than a deterrent... I agree Todd, the magazine disconnect is very unsafe and increases the chances of a negligent discharge immensely! how is the magazine disconnect unsafe? I don't understand can u explain

first, to dry practice you must have a magazine in your gun, second, If you are doing a tactical reload of your gun in practice or real fight, you gun is useless while you are exchanging mags. Finally all safeties makes gun more dangerous because a gun is NEVER safe. Believing a gun is safe is very dangerous, you should always think a gun is loaded and ready to fire.

GLOCK is NOT coming to Ca until the Handgun Roster is banished. They will never put a magazine disconnect on their firearms. That is why we never got Gen4 Glocks before the microstamping rule. Hope I didn't kill your hopes and dream. Thanks for the comment!

Also I have the Hellcat, Hellcat Pro and a Sig p365xl and the trigger on the Sig is so much more enjoyable. The travel distance on the Hellcat is a bit too long. I do like the Hellcats (especially after trigger upgrade) but the Sig p365xl is just a notch above all around experience. Obviously just my opinion, but can’t go wrong with either.

I wonder if they still have magazine Capacity restrictions in Cali? because that's how you'll really enjoy that Hellcat or that P365. Very small firearms that hold a lot of capacity. here in Michigan, the Hellcat holds 11,13, 15 and now 17 round OEM magazines. I have an FDE Hellcat, I carry it in the summer. And I also have a shield. 2.0. I still love the way the shield shoots. I changed the trigger. The sights. The mag capacity. That's why I didn't get the shield plus. I carry a XD 40 SC. or Glock 27. Gen 5 in the Winter

I carry a Kahr CW9 and I'm happy with it (not in love with that looooonnnng trigger pull) but it's the mag capacity that has bugged me. A new mag spring added a round so I now carry 8 + 1, but these new CCW guns have 10 round mags, and I like that. I'm looking at the Springfield Hellcat Micro which is still around the size of the Kahr, but they haven't come into the locals so I can't hold one.

I moved to Reno a while back and have picked up a bunch of guns that I couldn’t get previously in CA. The M&P pistols with the flat faced trigger a definitely an upgrade over the 1.0 moon trigger but the 2.0 pistols with the moon trigger are still better than the 1.0 version. Best of all the polymer m&p pistol triggers is on the shield plus it’s really crips … for reference I also have a CA shield 1.0 and it sucks in comparison. That said I Personally like Glock Gen 5 a lot more than m&p. I’ve never been a Springfield guy so if I were still in CA I wouldn’t care about those offerings but at least it’s promising to see new guns being added to the roster. For years they were just subtracting guns from the list. Maybe CA will get Gen 5 glock eventually.

I heard a pro 2a lawyer say since the Bruen decision regarding the text of the second amendments “shall not be infringed” infringed is considered anything from an outright ban or restricting preventing limiting withholding denying too just hindering our second amendment right is in violation of our constitution and our constitutional rights, now wouldn’t a roster fall under that unconstitutional hindrance/infringement

It is under review by the court right now. The law was eased up a bit so gun makers are scrambling to get guns to CA as fast as possible. It could be gone soon, but it is up to SCOTUS.

Gen 5 Glocks will never come to California because they will never have a magazine disconnect on their guns. They believe that that is a fatal flaw. If a gun cannot fire without a magazine. That's why we still have gen 3 and not Gen 4's because they were produced before the microstamping law.

The Sheil Plus is nice but all you get from that is better grip and one extra one capacity over the standard Shield. With standard 12 rounds like free states have it's great but I would take the compact as a carry first in California..

i heard sig has to make the lowers different (for magazine disconnect feature) than standard p365, could be a manufacturing price difference.. kinda sucks but its better than paying $1300 for private sale.

People still buy the 1.0 though even in other states. At least in AZ a lot of people still carry it
