This Northern hunter is a great knife, I have the flat grind version and it is excellent for all outdoor tasks including cleaning fish because of the flat grind and blade style. The handle is very comfortable it is a very useable blade design for many cutting tasks.

G'day BB, Thank you for this great review of another great knife from LTWK. I'm lucky enough to have the full flat grind version of this knife which is highly versatile with multiple uses. I'm also a fan of high sabre grinds so I'll be putting one of these on my Christmas shopping list for sure! Fantastic to see you back on KZbin with your well balanced, fair and honest reviews. Cheers, BH

Thanks for the review. It's a good looking knife and the price even seems reasonable compared to other LT Wright knives. Not that they aren't worth it, but $200 to $300 is a lot for a non-custom knife.

Thanks for your video. I ordered one today. It'll be my 2nd L.T. Wright knife. My other one is a GNS also saber ground, but 3V steel. LTW makes great, durable, useful knives that I believe are also a great value.

I've been trying to get the SOSPES knife for a few years now. I guess LT is no longer making these Tarzan-type knives which is a real shame! Please let LT know we would greatly appreciate him putting this beauty back in production and if you're wanting one please let LT know it! Just looking at the SOSPES knife makes me feel like fighting an alligator! ( I NEED A SOSPES!)

Hahah yea that’s a specific model design that was made. There are a few that show up from time to time during live shows or events. I’d suggest using the Gary Wines knife!

Great review! I'd love to see one on your small northern hunter too. I'm trying to decide between the two now. I don't do much batoning with a knife (just very small pieces) and I will still use a scandi to carve wood. I really just want one for general cutting tasks and food prep in camp. I like that the small northern is 3/32 for slicing.

Great video. That's the exact thing I wouldn't do but want to with mine in flat grind. It's an LT so it would probably hold up but I'd use my Overland for that. I think this might be the grind for me on my already favorite knife. Thank you very much Sir.

Thank you for watching! That’s exactly why I did the video, let me do things with the knife they’ve sent me so you can see if you would want it or not. I agree that I normally would not do that either but wanted to showcase its features. Hope I helped with any decisions Thanks!

That knife is a copy of the belt knife made by Grohmann Knives, usually called a Russell type knife. They have been made in Pictou, Nova Scotia for more than half a century. Buy the original (check their catalog for the many choices...and most with saber or flat grind)...support the company that developed that knife design.
@TheBeardedBurton
@TheBeardedBurton 4 жыл бұрын
You are correct, a classic “Canadian Belt Knife” pattern that has been copied by loads and loads of makers by now. But where you are wrong is telling people what to buy because that’s not what I did in my video, it’s merely an option. Should we only buy the original Kephart knife, or the original Ford automobile, or even should we only live in one of the 13 original colonies??? I think not and just like this knife, it’s all options and what someone wants. The original Russell knives are thinner wooden handles and although a classic, I’ve held many, they may not fill the hand or perform as well as Micarta when bloody. Oh and the steel, AEB-L is one of the top stainless steels on the market in my opinion but we shouldn’t live anywhere but in the past huh? And the grind geometry, what if I wanted a full saber or flat grind even? Nope guess that’s forbidden. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment but go elsewhere with your hate and demands for what my followers should and shouldn’t do. I will never go on video and tell someone they have to do this or do that
