Hi Darrin, I love your videos. I have been watching them quite a bit lately as we start putting food away. I've got a tough question for you, but let me give you some background first. We have a family of 9, and we long ago outgrew our Foodsaver. It kind of started to show it's age, and my wife never liked it on the counter, but she eventually did seem to understand the importance of at least letting me use it, even if she didn't warm up to it. Nonetheless, it ended up "disappearing" as it got more and more gnarly looking, although it was technically still functioning, albeit with warts. Now with current times as they are, we are stocking up to try to responsibility prepare, so our next vacuum sealer will definitely be a chamber type. And with the size of our family, we are trying to a) save money but b) get as close to commercial quality as possible without breaking the bank, and c) have as much flexibility as possible. So being able to vacuum seal canning jars, maybe retort canning (have never tried that), but certainly be able to seal as large of bags/jars as possible. So here we go. Forgive me for putting you on the spot. I do realize that you received this JVR Vac100 free from the manufacturer, so thank you for disclosing that. You do seem to nonetheless be fairly objective in your reviews, which I really appreciate. I don't get the sense that you are biased as a result of the free evaluation unit, however I do have the question (here it comes). When using the "Fireandwater" referral code, are you compensated by JVR in any way? And as a followup, where does the JVR Vac100 fall in your list of chamber vacuums that you have? I mean, if you had to get rid of all but one of your vacuum sealers--I guess I'd even open that up to ANY type of vacuum sealer you own--which would be your #1 to keep, and maybe your #2 and #3?

@@FireWaterCooking Hi Darrin, Thank you for your reply. That is encouraging to hear that you have two of them, as it may indicate that you've found it a good enough value to put your hard earned money into a second one. Although if you also received the second one for free, it clouds the question of whether you would own even one of the JVR units if you were paying with your own hard earned money. So at the risk of putting too sharp of a point on it, I am just trying to gauge what emphasis I should put on your review, because you did (to your credit) disclose that you received your JVC Vac100 free from JVR. Did you buy the second one, or did JVR compensate you with the second Vac100, for example, or for the FIREANDWATER referrals? Even after the $100 discount, it is still quite a bit of money for our family, so I'd like to know whether there are factors other than quality and performance that contribute to your endorsement of this product.

Bought the blemished model on sale. The blemish was a black scuff in the chamber. I saved some bucks on your recommendation. I want to try curing some pork chops before smoking them. Do you think vacuum sealing them in the cure will make any difference vs. simply immersing them in cure inside a bag?

The Vac100 does not have a Busch vacuum pump and unfortunately no chamber machines at this price point will. However we have performed extensive testing on these vacuum pumps and they pull under a 3 Torr vacuum which is better than most of the more affordable vacuum pumps on the market.

@@FireWaterCooking Thanks for the info. Another question, I’m looking to replace my VP112 because the accessory port failed. We use the accessory port for the vacmaster canisters quite a bit. We love using canisters. Which canisters will the Vac100 work with? I have several of the VacMaster canisters and not sure if this will be able to seal them. Vacmaster has a deal for VP112 owners to purchase the VP200. I’m going to buy a new chamber sealer and struggling to figure out which to purchase. We use 12” bags so I need the 12” bar and I’m trying to avoid going to a VP220/VP230 size unit. The Vac100 seems to be a bit more commercial model over VP200 and Avid Armor. Is it worth the difference in price? The Vac100 is twice the price.

@@pr0jektcha0s if you use the code "fireandwater" at checkout on the Vac100, you can get it for $799 with no tax unless you are in NY and free shipping.. it is more in like with the vp215, so it is MUCH better than the VP200.. Looking at your video, your lid gasket fluted edge is facing inward and not outward like all the other videos I have seen. I own a vac 100 and it’s been a great machine but I’m starting to lose my vacuum. I swapped out the lid gasket but it still acting up. Have you changed yours yet? Also, I realized the vacuum gauges are just for reference but out of curiosity what does yours read? On my machine I will drop from -.098MB to -.097Mb At the end of the cycle during the sealing. Does your machine do something similar?. I’m noticing when I vacuum sealing fish I seem to have some air still around the fish even on a 45 second cycle.

I just got my Avid Armor chamber vacuum sealer yesterday. I've only vacuum compressed watermelon so far, but I'm really liking it! Have you seen that the VacMaster VP200 is coming out soon?
@cnnw39294 жыл бұрын
I've read about it. I'm sure they'll be a lot of reviews once it comes out. The VacMaster VP215 is currently sold out until August, so I think JVR made some good timing here. Especially when it can remove the same amount of air while accepting larger bags. This looks like a highly competitive product! I can't say I can trust the new VP200 yet, because I have a VP120 that's a bit weak, and it's been that way since new. It's still a very reliable unit that hasn't let me down once after more than 3 years of use, though. I'm thinking the new VP200 will have similar performance to the VP120, in a smaller and lighter package.
