The Elantra has a naturally aspirated engine, 2000cc’s with 154hp’s that peak at 6400rpms. So when the step-shift transmission does help it get off the line faster the Civic with it’s CVT gains the edge of maintaining peak horsepower and quicker torque with the help of the turbo.

@shahbaz Meer Civic Oriel is 127hp not 158hp. Secondly Civic price is 58.55 not 66.5 lacs. If you are including "ON" price in civic 66.5 then also add in Elantra price. Currently Elantra Invoice price is 51.61 and Civic price is 58.55. Do check. Its better to buy Civic in this scenario as elantra is old gen and civic is new bigger, better.

In high temperatures nowadays what I've witnessed is that all turbo civics start to lose power due to heat soak coz in the last run the civic underperformed turbo engines do make way more heat than n/a engines and that can be solved with a upgraded intercooler on the civic coz the oem/factory one sucks none other then less both cars performed good but again it's a slap to the faces of those 🤡🤡🤡 who said that new oriel will be slow coz civic x 1.8 would have been smoked by Elantra especially in a 140+ race as it has good top end power

Yes, especially with this L15BG we’ve noticed it gets heat soaked real quick and the fan stays on for a really long time (4-7 mins approx) specifically when the car was new (0-2000kms driven) after giving it hard pulls or drags. The top end on this oriel is way better due to no breathing issues with the help of the turbo. But for sure 1.8 cannot keep up with this 1.5T after 120. Moreover, we’ll be bringing a 1.8 Oriel vs Elantra real soon to see how that’ll end up. Judging by the launch of both cars in this race I think the 1.8 just might give a competition off the line. 🤔

BJ does have a better launch as per its specs as compared to the BG. The first (simulated) gear in the BG is quite slow to build power. We did a little friendly between RS and Oriel - the oriel had its nose ahead up till 100. But the RS was at break-in period. Will bring a RS vs ORIEL too so we know for sure 🤭

The elantra is 27 hp and 15nm of torque higher then civic and is still getting destroyed. Secret sauce of Honda is clearly the CVT, (engine always stays in peak power band in WOT) and the flat HP from 5500-6000 rpms and flat torque curve from 1700 rpm to 4500 rpm which no NA car is capable of delivering!

NA engines ko kabhi turbo k sath compare kia hi nai ja sakta! NA engines are all about horse power and turbo engines are all about torque! NA engines ki acceleration hamesha same rehti hai shuru se end tk but Turbo engines bad main kick pakarta hai jab turbo active hota hai. So comparison banta to nai hai. Yes elantra is the fastest C sedan right now in Naturally Aspirated engines. While civic has an advantage of turbo. Lekin aisy advantage or speed a kya krna jismain apki life safety na ho.
