The BR version was basically the same as its older LMS engine, the cab being the main differences, this was an attempt to follow the profile of the new BR Mk 1 coaches and give them a more balanced " modern " look, the modified drop ends to the front running plate was a safety feature when descending the running plate for maintenance..open clack valves ( no cover ) and external steam manifold ( firebox top ) and dual steam injectors, under RH side of cab...it had all the usual features of the standard class locos including... Self cleaning smokebox, Timken roller bearings..( all axels ) maintenance free valve gear oiling pumps, large cab, steam lance ( for washouts ) ...

A beautiful model. Might have to pick one up myself.

The Last Time I saw one of these was in 1962 on Empty Stock at Leeds City Station .... it looked a little sad , with the slide bars caked in the in lots of old grease that looked like very dirty Butter.... that was why I never forgot !! so its an excellent candidate for weathering.

Very nice indeed. I wonder if these new locos give a joyful toot when they find themselves on a lovely layout like yours 😊 i like these but given the mad price I'll have to be content with my reliable old Bachmann model.
