This episode had it all, double rainbows, giant spiders, side quests, and buried treasures! Congrats! (and now I am so jealous that I want to move to the south of France)
@mimosal3767 Жыл бұрын
I am used to spider, having always lived in the country, but moving in south-east of France I discovered there were scorpions there ! yes scorpions ! (little black ones, inhabitants says it doesn't kill you but hurts a lot so be careful when you put your shoes to check there is none in there :D)
@sonipitts Жыл бұрын
Protip: If you didn't, you will want to protect the bottom of the cut-off doors with some brush-on poly or other sealer, otherwise the unprotected wood/wood chip will absorb atmospheric moisture and swell up, causing the doors to drag and stick (and potentially scratch up your nice new floors).
@yozarahirvi4750 Жыл бұрын
even with the protection, it will eventually happen (especially if one of the rooms is a heavily humid room like a bathroom or a kitchen) but yeah this kind of protection will make it last way longer without problem

Spiders actually shed their skin so chances are that's what you found. Living in the country spiders are great - they catch all the flying bugs that like to bite you. I've even seen a house spider take out a wasp although mainly they feed on mosquito sized things. Have to say I got really excited when you said - so many books. One of my dreams is to have a massive library with a leather armchair I can sit in and read all day long.

Love, love, love your new home! ❤ Also live the new wood floor, but! And this is an important but. Wood flooring may need an acclimation time before you actually install it, to adjust to the climate of your house; the instructions should mention this. Also, there's supposed to be an expansion/contraction gap between the floor and the wall, the the trim covers. So, if the floor starts to buckle later, don't panic, just take it out and put it back in again (been there, done that, it's annoying). 😅 At least, assuming wood floors are the same the world over; for all I know, the French ones have secrets. ;)

A massive congratulations to your new home, and thank you for giving us a chance to follow along for the ride. I love seeing the transformations, so hoping for many many more. In Sweden, we have an old tradition of hiding coins in houses, so the house will never be poor. Thought of that when seeing your money loot :) Also... if you ever find coins in your sofa...know it's just your housespiders wanting to help paying rent and show they are kind and caring 🤓👍 Thank you, and have a fantastic day.

Removing the pipes, it is important to seal them properly. And if you are not removing them for now, remember to occasinally pour water into the shower drain to keep the trap filled - or you will have sewer gasses vent into the room, stink up the room, and worse, the fabric.

Wonderful to see you move into a better space with so much opportunity. I look forward to seeing what you make there. Some thoughts on living with the bugs. 1) they are animals like all the birds and fuzzy critters out there, just living and doing their thing. 2) whatever a bug or a spider is to you, you are Godzilla to them, a being of unfathomable immensity and power.

Suggestions(I'm italian, check your country we are similar): 1) do the 'cappotto'(check your language) it is a thing you do in your house walls outside and inside for climatizing it 2) if you can buy a new boiler, use everything with A++ 3) avoid humidity and similars, really they are a mess 4) swimming pool is cool but a mess, use it folder not create one and avoid the swimming pool in general. For the rest well done, plus it doesn't sounds wet as where I'm living...but, really, humidity is the 90% of the problem in my house.

Seems like your new home really is a little hidden gem! I'm so happy for you and I can't wait to see what you do with it! You have so much furniture to pick through, it really is like having your own antique/thrift shop. Plus, whatever furniture and bits and bobs you don't use, you can sell. It's almost a shame to take out the shower in the wash closet in your craft room, it could be really useful for messy projects or miscellaneous wig styling or fabric dyeing projects. Glad you're keeping the sink though, perfect for washing paintbrushes!

One caution would be to not put a refrigerator or freezer in the room because they generate heat and will effect the temperature in the room. I’m from a rural part of the US, and then I moved to a big city in the US, and I will never stop being confused by how people can be super handy and comfortable being covered in dust and grime, but still terrified of bugs and spiders. For me growing up, all our construction projects were done in the garage where 90% of the local wildlife found refuge, I’m pretty sure. You kind of just learn to leave them alone and check your shoes if you left them in there longer than a couple hours. ALWAYS CHECK YOUR SHOES. Also, you bring your gloves inside or put them in a bag. Or turn them completely inside-out before putting them on. Spiders love shoes and gloves.
