I would put the table and chairs in the fireplace area, that way you don't have to go so far bringing things back and forth. You could also put a cozy chair or 2 by the fireplace. The room that currently is the dining room could be an office and where Landon has guitar lessons. The front room could be turned into a little reading nook. You could have bookshelves and comfy/cozy chairs where the kids and you can read. You could also switch them (put the reading nook in the dining room and the office/music room in the front room. The girl's room is awesome! You could make a cool man cave room in the storage room. The smaller room could be his closest! Just some ideas!

I love looking at American houses. Always so huge and weird set outs. Like your main bedroom bathroom has 2 sinks but your main has 1. Haha. This house is amazing. And looks so bright. Think about placing or trying furniture closer to a wall in some rooms, instead of sticking out into the room. For example, would the two beds sticking out in the girls’ bedroom fit against the walls? That would leave more room for twirling and story time before bed. 😉
@karentillotson97725 ай бұрын
This comment is just FYI from what I could tell from the vlog, so disregard if I missed the total storage room layout . The problem with Shayden in that storage room is there doesn’t appear to be “egress”, which is code. Sure he could hang out in there, but he can’t sleep in there, using it as a bedroom, if there’s no egress- a second way out of the room. Using that space for a bedroom could also be a violation of your lease! I’m sure the landlord wants you all to be safe!

The new house is awesome. I’m in the UK and our houses are much smaller than American homes due to much less space. Anyway, that’s to say that my youngest daughter’s (16 now!) bedroom is I think smaller than the walk in closet for the two little boys! You have had a rough few years, I don’t pretend to know the first thing about what ended your marriage and your feelings around that but what I do know is the feeling of ending up the single parent you never planned to be and trying to cope and manage your own emotions while putting your children and their complex and confused emotions first. It’s not easy and it was at least two years until I felt like I had my legs underneath me again. I can only wish that my two children had a father as devoted to them as you, who puts his kids needs first, wants the quality time with his kids and willing to work as a respectful team with his co parent. All things you seem to have done from the beginning but although I did everything possible in my power has not happened in my situation. He owes thousands in child support but honestly, that isn’t what breaks my heart and upsets me most. It’s been 10 years and he is yet to have got a home suitable for him to have his kids. He has had the kids at his parents this whole decade. I worked out what I thought was best for the kids access wise but if he wasn’t trying to represent he had them more to reduce his child support he was trying to have the kids less. It has now got to the point that for the last 4 years he has seen his kids just one weekend a month. Saturday morning to Sunday evening. He lives less than 10 miles away. The very idea of him needing to step up puts the fear of god in him. The girls are now 19 and 16 and seem to have worked him out for themselves. Even now I will find myself making excuses for him as I have done for all these years, bigging him up, telling the yow much he loves them. The girls just tell me to stop now. I have gone through a huge amount myself in the last 10 years managing my progressive health condition, finding new health issues to now being diagnosed with three different life limiting conditions. I have gone from being Brown Owl and the the village Brownie Guides, Seahorse to the tiny (5 - 7) Rainbow guides, working in the community village shop, wrangling horses, working as a freelance groom, part time riding school yard manager and riding teacher to now, being in a power wheelchair full time, needing outside careers to come in everyday to help me wash, make my bed etc. and that’s all just scraping to surface. If anyone has got this far through my whining what I am trying to say is I so wish I had a co parent like you who puts their kids first and pours so much of himself into his kids (be careful though, you need to keep some back for you or you are no good for anyone, I have made that mistake myself on multiple occasions), actually wants his kids around and will work with their co parent to raise wonderful healthy and balanced kids.

That small front room could be your office or your quiet space. Alternatively it could be a quiet space for the big boys to sit and read or do homework. Off limits to the little ones. The area in front of the fireplace looks like a good place for quiet sitting or playing away from the TV or bring the large dining table there to eat at all the time instead of the kitchen. Then make that front dining area a place for quiet games and bookshelves with comfy chairs. I follow Chloe and beans on KZbin, with ten children. They have a library room with cosy nook and seating and soft rug. Maybe check them out. Moving house 🏠 is the pits. Especially when you think you’ve finished then pack another ten boxes with bits. 😂

Congratulations! Being settled will help you feel much better. That very small room is your tornado/safety room. Opinions? I’d use the very large room for your family room so you can enjoy your fire place, etc. Perhaps you could use the smaller family room where the tv currently is for a study area. Five kids doing homework will need a lot of supervision. Also, you have so much space - I wouldn’t put Shaydon in the basement. I noticed there was no window so technically can’t be a bedroom.
