That mud mixer is a cool idea. I’ve heard mixed reviews though (no pun intended) - my beef with it is price. I understand that it took creativity and know how to get it to market - but think about the very low cost of a barrel mixer. It’s cheap because it’s simple. The mud mixer is really not that much more complex at all. No way the cost to manufacture is worth the spread in price. Same with that neat trailer with the conveyor belts. I bought an all aluminum trailer for $4k got a truck bed crank belt for $50. Sure I have to get out and crank by hand… you can’t tell me it cost anything close to the spread in cost to make this. I would have thought it was worth about $20k maybe $25k max with the side output addition. And that would be the galvanized version. These things can’t cost more than 5-10k to build. I’m just so tired of people trying to fleece trades people out of their hard earned money. Make a good product for a good price that you can live off of. These tools are not going to make us more profitable at the prices being charged.

If your job is large enough to use 42 bags of concrete mix, it would be cheaper to have it delivered. Especially if you can back the truck up right at the pour.

I saw that mixer years ago and ive never seen one in the wild. That tells me all i need to know after hearing comments on its low quality and mix control. A towable concrete mixer with a gas engine cost the same as that mixer and it mixes 10 times the amount of concete.

@sparksmcgee66419 ай бұрын
Matt has made a lot of them. Hot and humid is delta with by design and construction, there isn't special 'hot and humid' insulation. It's just how it's installed, mainly where the vapor barrier is located.

I want to say I was have been watching your show for quite a few years. No I really enjoy what you show. I really enjoy the question you ask but I have Question too ask you You're normal close all pink polyethylene Phone board that you would use to insulate below your concrete, Lay your board down, your concrete goes on top. Does this phone board? Squish two A lower thickness because of the weight. If it does that mean that it's insulation properties are now that it's a closed cell, but can you tell me? If it does and this product you're looking at at the world of concrete in Vegas. That board you is looking at from. Atlas has a higher pressure rate where you can't squeeze. It is that better, If you would, please get back with me and answer my question. If you would, I am looking into insulating my shed when I build it and I need to know if this is gonna be a problem or if I need to put instead of 2 inches put 4 inches because of the crush of the pink close cell phone board. Please let me know I appreciate you much thank you

the mudmixer is such a piece of trash. Had a chance to use one, literally no way to get a consistent slump. For the kind of things you'd use it for, get a $400 barrel mixer and actually get consistent results.
@2chipped9 ай бұрын
It has a water valve, and auger speed control.. I understand there may be a learning curve,but you have full control. 1 guy and 2 wheel barrows can get a lot of work done.
@pats94149 ай бұрын
I was thinking he was going to say like 1500-2000. Even at that price I’d pass.
@johntherat3399 ай бұрын
Barrel mixers are really the perfect solution for the price. The most annoying part of doing concrete is lifting the bag and you still have to do that with the mud mixer. It gets pretty old on your 80th bag of the day.
@stevelinder79759 ай бұрын
When you do pallets of concrete at a time, it’s a definite time and back-saver. We get a more consistent mix than a traditional barrel mixer.
@grinchyface9 ай бұрын
@@2chipped unfortunately regardless of where the controls are set, you end up completely at the whim of whether the machine will actually feed material at a consistent rate, which it wont. So at one moment, everything is fine- at the next, material won't be flowing, and will be getting overwatered. Adjust water down, try to unclog, end up with fully formed CMUs blocking the chute. Adjustments are great, but only if they actually give you control. You know what works every time with absolutely no headache? Putting a metered amount of water and a metered amount of ready mix inside of a barrel mixer and hitting the on button. Anyone who says that thing works well is pouring out of spec slabs.

The automatic concrete mixer with the auger needs to be revamped. I’ve seen these on job sites and the auger often breaks. It’s thin crap metal.
@sparksmcgee66419 ай бұрын
It's the same price as a standard towable concrete mixer that can .if a 1/3rd of a yard per batch. They look cool but once you find out the build and control quality it's not worth it.

That Geofoam is extremely interesting. I’d be curious if it also happens to be recyclable on top of that low GWP figure
@MorryB9 ай бұрын
SDS says its expanded polystyrene. Same white plastic as coffee cups and packing foam. Very rarely recycled.
@MrStreaty1229 ай бұрын
@@MorryB oh, well that changes things a little bit XD
@sparksmcgee66419 ай бұрын
It's recyclable but the reason it isn't is because of the bulk. It cost more to move it than the value for cups. If they pulled the millions of cubic feet of material in a highway project it would get recycled. Lastly when do you think an interstate is going to be pulled up and replaced.???? It's more stable, so the overlying surface lasts longer. If it was toxic, it would still be better than any other option available.
