Great video JP, thanks. Really like the Poison Adrena a lot, its very light and has a great feel so this Ultima should be fantastic. Ordered the 7 mh for another versatile rod. I fish mostly fluke style swimbaits, spinnerbaits, senkos and Yamatanuki type baits, nothing requiring heavy action. Can't wait til it comes.

Well done on bringing them over. They’ll be a perfect complement to the NRX+ line sir. I can attest that the blanks (from fishing JDM) are very durable as of course are Conquest. The spins will be sexy with the Exsence, at least that’s the route I’m headed.

Does the blank insert into the handle and lock down or does it go all the way through the entire handle? My biggest hurdle in purchasing this rod would be the one year warranty. That's pretty weak considering Daiwa has a 5 year warranty on their $189.-$299. Tatula Elite rods.

It’s a very nice rod but unfortunately its just not in my price range. I’ll just stick to Expride B and Zodias. I’m just curious how’s the Edge rods made by Gary Loomis blanks of Delta Bass or the MBR Black Widow compare to the high end rods?

Hey JP, I wanted to ask your opinion on which line of rods would be best for fishing in Florida? We don't really fish deep in Florida lakes so no ledge fishing and not a lot of deep cranking, we do have a lot of dense cover lol. I wanted to ask your top three Lines of rods for sensitivity, strength and price based on value? Thank you for all your content. BC

Hi BC, top Florida techniques for Bass usually involve a Chatterbait, a Senko, a Flipping/Punching set up and a frog but obviously there are other ways to catch them. The one thing that happens down there is the power of the rods has to go up because of the heavy vegetation. Depending what you are looking to spend there are several options that have a good variety of rods that can be used for these techniques. The Curado series of rods, Zodias and Expride all have great models all at differing price points. Best bang for the buck is Curado in my opinion if value is a primary factor. I would look at 7’ - 7’6” models that are medium heavy and heavy power with fast action to handle these techniques. MH for chatter and Senko and Heavy for Flipping and frogging down there. It’s a baseline starting point. Power Pro braid from 50-65 lb will also be a good help for you combating the weeds.

Hi Jp. I’m about to invest a hole lot of money in jerkbait fishing from shimano. I already got the new Shimano lesath for trout fishing that has the construction as the ultima. The 6.10 ultima you are talking about here is that a perfect match/jerkbait rod combo for the world minnow/ diver and zumverno fishing technique. Or should I bye something else for that fishing type. I’m a little confused here? medium heavy fast and so on. I will primarily be fishing jerkbait on my new investment so will you recommend the ultima for that. Creating from (Copenhagen, Denmark)

6’10” medium would be the correct choice for World Minnow and World Diver. I use Medium power with Fast or extra fast action for jerkbaits and I pair it with 12-14 lb fluorocarbon. Zumverno may be a little light for that combo so make sure your reel has MGL Spool 3 to help casting those lighter baits.

Wanting to pre order the 7’ ML spinning, but what you said about it being a ML+ concerns me. I feel the same way about the 7’2 ML expride spinning and I hate it.

The graphite is so fast it feels that way. I would need to load one on a fish to be sure. Often times the blanks crispness is mistaken for power. Lower modulus blanks are often considered more parabolic but in fact they are just sloppier. 😂

How long do we have to wait for Gen 2 Conquest rods to come out? With this price point for the Ultima, it worries me with the current warranty. I feel you have a choice between the Ultima with a 1 year warranty and a Conquest with a lifetime warranty, both of which in the same price range. I think for the amount of rods (limited amount) and the money it costs, Shimano should have offered a special warranty with these.

​@@raychoi4994 G Loomis is capable of doing it with the NRX+ and Conquest for $625 - $775 and they are owned by Shimano... so I think Shimano being as big as they are and doing this level of enthusiast fishing gear could easily offer more than a 1 year warranty. 3-5 would even be acceptable. Hell Daiwa Steez AGS is at least still 5 after their warranty changes for $550.

NRX+ is more traditional look and feel with a very high tech blank and Ultima is very futuristic. Depends what cup of tea you’re into in the end. Can’t go wrong with either of you love having top shelf gear and if you’re a JDM fan, this one ticks a certain box

I loved the adrenas, but they don’t make a lot of models. Looks like the same with the ultimas . I have 2 PAs, but doubt I’ll buy an ultima since they don’t make what I’m looking for from a length and power standpoint.

Yes, very limited selection for NA but in japan, many more choices. Hopefully if the series is successful they will bring in more offerings'

Lol im trying to justify the price and for a while i couldn't. Then i was like wait i spend like 1200 just to snowboard for 1 season at my local resort 😅 which is an expensive ass hobby 😑. I actually fish wayyyyy more than i snowboard 🏂 so yah i guess im not snowboarding this season 😂.

Crazy when you break it down. I always look at it in terms of years of use versus cost. Most things like memberships are one year and subscription based. At least you still own the product for years to come
