I love my '24 Rubicon 6-spd manual. It's so fun to drive. I hope Jeep keeps the manual alive. Believe it or not, the manual isn't that hard to drive offroad. I've now done 1 badge of honor trail, a nd a bunch of greens and blues. The amount of times you need to use the clutch is surprisingly low. The crawl ratio and gearing in these offroad is amazing. The Jeep just crawls over things and does a lot of the work for you.

I absolutely love my manual Gladiator Rubicon! Yeah, the numb clutch pedal, tall gearing, and low-torque 3.6L aren't ideal, but there's just something special about a pickup truck with 3 pedals. Especially one that is comfortable, has a decent bed, can tow whatever I need to, and can haul the whole family around. And bonus points for the removable top/doors :)

I have a JLU Sport with a manual transmission. Regeared to 4.88s. it's not bad, but the transmission is still clunky. It's a jeep, not a BMW, so the transmission will never be smooth or quick but even after driving it for almost 3 years it's still jerky. Ah well. I'll get it paid off and I'll get a second jeep with an auto so I can choose which one I drive.n😂

My first car was a 94 Cherokee Country, inline 6 with a 5 speed manual transmission. I loved it and still miss it.

It seems to me that all those inline 6 cylinders were bullet-proof, regardless of who made them.

Manual for me, although its severely underpowered with that V6, needs an engine with at least 350ftlbs of torque. and no it doesn't need the 392, just a decent engine, the 5.7 would be lots.

I'm not 100 percent sure of the longevity but there's a KZbin video of the 5.7 hemi working with the stock manual.

I have a manual gladiator. I'm glad I did choose the manual after some of the auto transmission issues some other people have had with their wranglers I know. To another viewers point, I don't worry about it getting stolen at all, lol....only thing I wish they would do is change the ratios, 6th gear is absolutely useless and the rpms don't change at all basically. So I treat it as a 4 speed with overdrive. It does need more low end torque....can't believe that's 67k though, totally ridiculous. My willys sport was 40k and it's in Gobi which was an extra 500 bucks even. There is no way there is 27k worth of upgrades.....I agree Ben, the clutch is easier to stall, it doesn't punish your leg but it's catch point is too quick.

Nice that you can still get the manual in some cars as many manufacturers are not making them anymore due to a low take rate. Good video.

@gilbertferguson1685 It don't help either that the manual transmission vehicles drastically outlast the automatic counter parts, Other than a head gasket issue My 13 focus manual transmission is still kicking while a lot of the automatic transmission version, probably Have been made into an LG washing machines by now.

I just picked up a 2023 Wrangler Willys with the manual. I have yet to use the 6th speed. You can cruise all day on the highway at 65-70 in 5th. I wish Jeep would of made it a 5-speed manual and tucked the reverse gear down and into the right where the 6th speed is now.

I wanted a Tacoma, but now I want a gladiator, I don’t do off-road, just regular driving, but do need a pick up bed for restaurant groceries. And I need help Sport S or Willys? I love the Sahara look, I would like a Renegade with everything painted and Sahara rims, more city look.
@AStanton1966
@AStanton1966 2 күн бұрын
The Renegades are lower end quality. Stay away from them. I have a Wrangler Willys and I would recommend it. Get the Gladiator Willys. At the beginning of this year the dealers were giving steep discounts to clear of lots of the 2023 model. The Willys is the poor man's Rubicon. You get the Rubicon suspension and wheels and a locking rear diff to boot.

You can draw a direct line of correlation between America’s decline and the decline in the number of vehicles available with a manual transmission in this country.

The manual in the Jeep isn't great (the new Bronco's manual is better), and it doesn't help that it's paired with that Pentastar dog. With that in mind, you have to drive it accordingly. The gearing is different than the auto, so you're going to need to push it past 3000 RPM to get into the power band. Keep your shifts in the 2500-4000 range and you'll get better performance and a better idea of what the truck is capable of. Just keep in mind, driving a manual isn't about speed ( i.e. you kept comparing it to the auto and saying the auto was faster), it's about control, performance, and driver engagement/skill. The only place an auto is better is at a drag strip. In every other instance, I'll take a manual.

Sounds like a pain in the ass for use as a daily driver. Manual was OK in 1969 because automatics were crap. But it is 2024, and automatic transmissions are awesome.

This is really cute. And colorful. Of course, it doesn't say a damn thing. Even in 1st grade kids are encouraged by teacher Miss Friendly to use words to communicate. That is basically what grade school is all about. By the time you are in 3rd grade, writing in words actually works fairly well.

The ugliest vehicle in America. Fact! Overpriced. Poor build quality. Constant recalls. This vehicle spends more time in the shop than on the road. I’ll pass on this one. Cheers!

All true. There is one more relevant fact about this vehicle- it is not in any way a pickup truck. Therefore, it is useless if the buyer wants a pickup truck. In a very real way, it looks kind of cool. But it looks kind of cool in the same way a goat with a saddle would look kinda cool. Cute, but ridiculous. If you want to really ride, you just gotta put a horse under that saddle.
