Tbh Jersey is just barely more affordable than New York when it comes to renting upper scale apartments. And if you're commuting by car, those toll payments are going to add up. Most people who commute go for affordable housing in NJ and commute by train, but that doesn't seem like it's down your alley at all lol You might as well just find a nice place in the city.

But if a major concern is the actual size of your apartment, then Jersey would probably give you more bang for your buck in that regard.

OKay so i'll give my little opinion ... so.. I am a new yorker that have truly lived everywhere... I have lived in the heart of the city on 49th st, i have lived and am from brookly, i've lived in pelham bay north bronx area which I LOVED by the way (best party spots), i've lived in queens, I currently live in staten Island and I've also lived in Jersey for a year. To be honest.... Jersey is amazing. I found myself dating and having ex boyfriends there because i just loved having a reason to come out there. I love the night life, all my favorite restaurants are there and it's just a good way to get away without getting away. Honestly at your age and in your stage in life and especially since you're semi New to New York meaning you weren't born here... I think brooklyn would be a great choice for you being that you have a car. If you can find a place with parking the city could be an option, but with brooklyn you're more than likely to find parking than in the city. Jersy can be more affordable and a LOT more fun for the mature crowds, like lounges, bars, events etc. I really hope you find what you're looking for. :)

JERSEYYY! I'm from here, born and raised. I so glad because I been waiting for you to go apartment hunting here. I honestly love jersey, I wouldn't be anywhere else but here. It as close to the city as any of the other Burroughs and it's cheaper. Half of my friends live in other Burroughs and my commute takes less time than theirs. I'm always in the city hanging out but at the end of the day, there's no place like jersey. It's the calm and the peacefulness knowing the city is just 10 minutes away. It's like a get away in a way. The city is fun but at the end of the day jersey is the place to be. And we also have the mountains and the shore and manhattan is right there. Come here for quality life 👌🏾

I live in JC myself and downtown Jersey City is a great option. NYC is literally a 15 minute path train ride away plus there is a nearby shopping mall and Target to do all your necessary shopping. You should also look at the Hoboken waterfront there are some great apartment options there and a path station to get to the city as well. Living in Jersey will definitely be a little bit more affordable than living in the heart of the NY. You get the best of both worlds! Good luck on your hunt!

Hey girl, commuting from Jersey has gotten better. Including, transportation, expenses and commute, do. I want to do this on a daily basis? One thing to factor before answering that question is whether you have an active social life. Commuting for work is one thing, but to have to stay in New York for an evening social event is very exhausting. My boy commutes from Newark on a daily; he has an active social life. He parks his car and takes NJ and NY public transportation. It's bearable, but inconvenient. The upside is better aesthetics in apartment choices and bang for your buck. OMG that 2nd 2br was heaven! 😱💜. Keeping my fingers crossed that you are in or close to NYC, but go where the opportunity is an advantage. Best wishes. 👌🏽
