We achieved the same thing by running the combine header right on the ground and disabling the straw chopper at the back. Then we raked the straw into a windrow and bailed the straw.
@bigtractorpower2 жыл бұрын
The difference in this method is long straw. The combine chops the straw up. Even a walker machine breaks the straw up. This merging with the stripper head on the combine and the Swather produces the longest straw possible to weave the erosion mat.

@aidanbrennan73892 жыл бұрын
Question from a non farmer! The combine cuts the heads. Then the other machine cuts the straw and lays it into two rows. Why not just use a combine harvester. I never seen this process before. Greetings from Ireland.
@bigtractorpower2 жыл бұрын
Typically a farm would bale right behind the combine. In this case to make the straw mats to control soil erosion long straw is needed. A combine chews the straw up too much and leaves the straw too short to weave into a mat.

Sounds like this is more for the use of the straw needing the longer less damaged straw from this process rather than having it go through the combine and be threshed and torn up. Along with the use of a draper head, less damage to the straw.
@matthewknudslien13302 жыл бұрын
