Long time fan of your channel mate. I believe that 2K is releasing two Bioshock games back to back. Judas is one of them. What happened with Ken Levine was that 2K really wanted to hold onto the Bioshock IP and also Ken Levine but they did not want Ken Levine making the next Bioshock game. That is were cloud chamber comes in. Cloud chamber is developing the next Bioshock, Bioshock 4 and Ken Levine is developing what is essentially a spin off of Bioshock. 2K is going to have its cake and it eat to. This way, Ken can take a million years to make whatever game he wants, which just so happens to essentially be Bioshock. 2K doesn’t have to risk Judas messing up the Bioshock IP, because Judas is very out there as a concept. If Judas does well, I absolutely believe 2K will embrace Judas as a Bioshock game. Retroactively saying it was a Bioshock game all along. If Judas for whatever reason stinks, they can just ignore it ever happened and move onto Bioshock 4 by cloud chamber.

Well, BS4 is actually going to "stink" because it cannot possibly keep up with the high expectations everyone has. Levine is actually very wise not to have his name associated with what comes next in the franchise. I know you guys don't want to hear it but Rapture is dead, there will be no new Bioshock game like the first one. Levine knows this, he knew it when he did Infinite and that is why he is producing a "Bioshockish" game now but cuts all ties with Bioshock itself. Bioshock itself is perfect as it is, it is not getting any better with further sequels. All my money is on Judas, it will be a fresh, unique, up-to-date, "unshackled" mind-blowing game whereas BS4 has no chance to step out of the shadows of its predecessors.

I agree with you when it comes to certain types of character graphics/models like BioShock and Dishonored. Most games try to be too realistic and it does not always work for the best (there are a few exceptions however). It just sets them apart and the characters can still look physically appealing with their own art-style.

With Bioshock series being my #1, Fallout (mainly 1 through FNV) being #3, and Dishonored being #4 I have to agree with you completely on loving that artstyle. I mention fallout as in particular FO3 and FNV gives me that “artistically cartoonish” vibe as well along with Bioshock and Dishonored.

This looks like OG Bioshock, Atomic Heart, Deathloop and We Happy Few all had an orgy and the resulting baby is Judas lol I’m here for it so I’ll be keeping my eye out for a release date! Edit- Pretty sure the Judas voice actress is Elizabeth from Infinite. It sounds way too much like her to not be her.

Looks like another alternate history sociopolitical sci fi game, my favorite type. The flashes have a calendar for June 1979 so a late 70s early 80s time frame is likely. Anyways I wanted know what your stance is on the possibility of this being set in the same continuity as Bioshock. Are you hoping there's references to Andrew Ryan and/or Columbia or do you just want it to be it's own separate thing?

I'd like for it to be its own thing, but I wouldn't be opposed to some Bioshock throwbacks/callbacks. The only way I could see the two being intertwined is through the 2K/Take 2 umbrella.

Bioshock has more cartoony character models but the graphics themselves are more realistic. Same in a way with dishonored like you said. But bioshock infinite was a bit too cartoony. Maybe because of the limitations for the time

Quick theory: This is just my opinion, but in the bible, Judas betrays Jesus. So my theory is that Ken Levine is borrowing elements of bioshock infinite that our protagonist will arrive the same but different way than booker did in Columbia. However, depending on choices through out the game we betray this god like figure in this game. Additionally our protagonist could have a name but labeled a "judas" like how booker is labeled a false profit. This is just speculation do not take this as fact but I am hyped to play this game I am seeing inspiration from bioshock 1 and 3

The reason this particular art style holds up is because it's not trying to pursue realism. Just like Dishonored and Bioshock (especially infinite.)

I know that it's not a fair comparison but this makes me think of We Happy Few with a mix of total recall, being broken free from the illusion of a functioning society and being hated and branded an enemy for seeing it or rather reminding people that all is not good. But this will likely do the concept better. I love we happy few but I know it's a down graded disappointment following the demo.

I'm sorry, but I don't yet see a retrofuturistic architectural art style or vintage music from at least the 60s - 70s era, not to mention what the characters wear. Therefore, the game has much less chance of liking me

Between this and the reveal trailer from last year, there's definitely some earlier things at play. Even if it's under a 70s Alien kind of cassette retrofuturism, 1:56 shows a design language influenced by 1890s-1910s woodtype, and there are a few more Western themes scattered around too. Don't lose hope!
