Great story and beautifully told as always. A few years back a friend of mine in Toronto found an odd listing in Japan for one of the original Tag Heuer F1 watches. He ended up buying it for a little over $1000 and was able to re-connect it with the owner of the car. Both he and the owner acted like gentlemen so while he netted a tidy profit the owner did not pay the moon either and with the money he was able to pay off his student debt. Hey Ed, I lived on the Isle of Man for 10 years. Its a small community there and i have a lot of contacts still in the automotive scene, especially high end exotic tuning, maintenance, sales etc. There's a lot of dubious dealings over there due to its former status as somewhat of a tax haven, lots of Russian and Hong Kong money hidden there. So there is a chance the El Chapo F1 could be there... however, I asked on my social media and no one i know has seen or heard this rumour on the rock, and no one has heard of any connections to Frank Williams, or William MS and car collections there. Ed. I expect you are aware, but you can apply to become the legal registered keeper of a car in the UK. This does not prove you own it, but does allow you to TAX it and thus make it road legal. Basically the DVLA will send a letter to the currently registered keeper and if they do not object you will become the new keeper. What I am saying is it should be possible to make that car legal in the UK (once it also passes an MOT test for roadworthyness), which should make it possible to export to the US under the show and display rules. If that didn't work you'd need to find the current registered keeper, which anyone in the police force could do or the DVLA will tell you if you have a good reason. While I'd be happy to help with any of this if it did come to it I'm sure Shmee would also help. They are too expensive to be totalled. Famously in 2015 Rowan Atkinson (Mr Bean) crashed his F1 on a road about 5 miles from where I live. The repair bill was £910,000 (about $1.15m) or about $1.5m today. It remains the most expensive auto insurance repair claim in the UK. They did not write it off as that would be over $10m.
@coreytrevor39105 ай бұрын
@@nixer65 Totaling a car is sort of just paperwork. A vin is nothing more then a number plate. If one is crashed bad enough and needs enough parts it would technically be totaled, as most likely nothing on the car can be used again. So in that case, they are just vin swapping. One monocoque is scrapped, another one made and then its built off of that. They don't cost 10m to make.

And the keys, most importantly, they never lost them even though they still have the original keys and all that theater that according to what they lost are just false rumors, all information comes from a KZbin channel called OkranLeaks who supposedly is the Mini licenciado If that is true, then the information it says is totally true.

I've been to the Williams property on the Bridal Path in Toronto Canada, the most impressive private car collection I've ever seen in that garage. Sadly, no F1 though.

It's in New Zealand.

I don't know man... his smurk at the end was all too confident. I wouldn't be surprised that this story is a lot further along the way than we think and that he already acquired it. I really hope so.

The Williams family have never owned a F1…..I live very very near them and know a few of them….lovely people too

Alice in Wonderland was written in 1865. It is still read today and movies are being made about it. Ed Bolian in 039 is equally fanciful and full of wonder. We all look forward to the next chapter.

Whoever has the F1 should know the only question is how big the number is before the six 0s.

So this new type of colouring was becoming really popular in 2017 I think we starting really seeing a lot of cars. These pastel colours. I think we'll soon come back to candy colours as there was a brief time in the early 2010s where a few cars had it. Gloss remains a very base colour.

The journey is 75% of the fun dude. Enjoy it lol. Hence why I still don't own a r34 gtr.

Also an avid F1 enthusiast; finally convinced myself that since I'll never be able to afford one, I'll have to make one (which I'm currently doing). F1 LM is by far my dream car; while everyone had lambo posters, I had the F1 on my wall. I sincerely appreciate you trying to track down #003. The funniest part of this story is thinking you'll get an even ragged out one for only $1.5MM. :)

Fyi a yellow McLaren F1 with that Registration Plate last had an MOT in 08/04/20. Meaning that at least it was in the UK in 2020.

I think he already made a video about that and basically they just used the plate it wasn’t actually chasis 39

I have a feeling its either been sold discretly or parted out.... cartel members live short lives and the idea that its been in storage for decades seems unlikely. Considering they cant drive it, youd assume they would rather get rid of it for however much they could get.

Plot twist: Ed already owns the car and just posts these videos to throw the DEA off the trail 😂

I live in the Isle of Man 😂. Never heard of a Williams car collection though. There are quite a few multi millionaires here with big enough estates to hide one.

You know, it’s gonna be a good story when VINwiki couldn’t even pick a cheeky line straight through the intro and into the story

Humberto’s children will never give that car up or expose themselves, not even in exchange for their father’s killer. They disappeared and did not continue in the drug trade. Maybe when they die there son might expose it.

So….in other words, in a reference book somewhere there is an entry telling all of us plebes in the future that “Robachivas’ F1” is synonymous with “Eleanor”?? 😳🤣🤣 Cheers Ed, never give up on the chase! 🖖😎👍
