i don't have a greenhouse or a south facing window, but i do have a grow tent similar to the one here, and the compact incandescent lights were expensive to keep replacing, so after seeing this and your results i decided to get this light for the tent. i've had it for about a month now and it really is fantastic. just the one fixture covers my whole grow space perfectly, my vandas are coloring up and growing like they would in summer, the brassavola is nice and purple again, and the oncidiums' new growths are growing twice as fast as before. haven't had time to get blooms yet, but one of the vandas has a bud coming in that's not a root as well as a few other orchids. so far i'd say it's good enough considering i have no natural light in my grow space. hopefully my account of the light will help anyone else who reads this and needs a good light

Thank you for this video! I'm a little old school when it comes to lighting, I like high pressure sodium, and metal halide, with squirrel fans, oscillating fans, and the like. With so many LED companies out there, it's hard to know who's doing the best, and buying & trying is not very efficient. Their numbers are fudged unless they are a reputable company, so I've just stuck with what I know. I am a bicalcarata fan myself! That new pitcher is a beaut! I was a bit surprised to hear that alata is one of your favorites, made me chuckle! Nice work, keep up the excellent efforts!

Beautiful plants, Brad! They are definitely loving the new home you built for them!♥️ My greenhouse, is smaller, but the same type, at did great on the sunporch, for a couple years. I did move it outside this year, bc the plastic shell, did finally wear through, just from the wind, etc. I'm actually selling most of my plants now....no orchids or nepenthes, no air plants or ferns, however, I have over 100 other plants. I am going to keep a few favorites. My greenhouse isn't a business. I have to sell everything bc I can't take care of them anymore. I'm in Daytona Beach, FL. Come on down and get some plants, Brad, if you'd like to visit! I'm always here.♥️

Thank you for the tour! How can anyone not love a bical?!? Thumbs up for alata, overachievers that are underrated. The one seen in my profile pic grows so well and is always full of long-lasting pitchers.

Hello, I have a question about your misting system in Nepenthes greenhouse. On Highland Nep. Tour video I saw you have pots of plants in tray without water, but full of sphagnum moss. Is it better then keep N. Staying in water? Witch misting system I best for small indoor greenhouse (glass tank 60x50x30)?

Wow nice such Beauties, can I ask some questions about Bicals, I bought two of those 3 months ago, I live in the Highlands in the Philippines on an outdoor setup, I don't know if it's still acclimating but it just barely produced 1 leaf for the last 3 months. can you give us some tips if you read this comment?, thanks a lot, happy planting

If your pitches are getting fried I'd suggest adding just a 1/4 pellet

Do you have to deal with pests and diseases infestations in such a closed environment? Is ventillation the key issue here?

Hey Brad :) I bought a nepenthes an I need to repot it from the pot it came in - I have a carnivorous peat&sand mix, but do you think I should use sphagnum instead?

Trying to learn how to care for my two teeny babies before I invest in cooler nepenthes. I have them in leca in my glass cabinet (humidity 60-80%) and still getting crispy black leaves

Hey Brad! I was wondering if you ship internationally, too? I’d like to purchase spagmoss which is absolutely impossible to get in my area. I’m from Latvia, Europe.

I saw a pic of an alata that was like a foot long. Is that real?
@3Y3ECE4 жыл бұрын
a foot is typical for an older, healthy plant. many species get quite large if kept happy for a number of years. Alata, ventricosa, mirabilis, rafflesiana, ramispina, just off the top of my head all get a foot or larger after some years of love. amazing!
