For starters, it wasn’t the PGAT’s money that LIV players received. It came from PIF and PIF controls that aspect of money, not the PGAT. What it really signifies is that players demanding LIV players pay back the money are simply jealous the LIV players made a wise business decision and I bet TW is leading that jealousy chorus.

This is exactly what happens in businesses worldwide. For example, you have a founder and CEO of a company that brings said company from nothing to super star status. The company ends up creating a board full of different minds that don't always agree with the CEO and vote to take the company in a different direction, tanking the stocks, turning off loyal customers and eventually getting rid of the CEO. This is essentially what's happening on the PGAT right now. You have a bunch of selfish kid-minded adults that can't see the big picture and just let their emotions get in the way of progress. They didn't get theirs so those who left can't have theirs either. How dare Rahm get hundreds of millions and get to play on the PGA tour again!! 🤪

Literally every PGA Tour player gained massively from LIV by not moving and keep playing on the Tour. They took no risk because they were too scared yet gained from it. Why do the LIV players need to repay anything?? Go have a look at the 2024 PGA Tour earnings. Number 70 earned more than $2m. Everyone in the top 20 made more than their respective LIV players on their ranking. Yes they played more events than LIV but still. Played in weaker fields and earned much more money. Sounds like the PGA Tour players need to pay back some money
@chaselleprice2833
@chaselleprice2833 5 күн бұрын
The top 15 LIV and PGAT players all made over $6m without adding end of season bonuses, beyond that is where PGA players started to outdistance the LIV golfers with only 3 LIV making over $5m while PGA had 9 and it got much more lopsided after that. Complete farce that PGA players want LIV guys to give back all their signing bonuses and forfeit all winnings on tour if they come back.

This is the stupidest thing in the world. If they want money go play for liv, they will offer what they think your worth is and you can do what you want. Nobody on liv is going to give back there money or forfeit any future winnings. Why would they? They already left pgat. It is all pgat that is holding up this process, pif has already agreed to pay fines and do whatever, pgat wants to punish the players who took a chance at less golf more money.

the ONLY reason the pga "tour" exists is the fans - it's an "entertainment property" and that is all - no fans? no tv, no tickets at venues, no sponsors equals no tour. but the pga acts like most corporations/politicians today, all they care about is themselves, the "fans"? f 'em. the idea that "what happened yesterday" has some hold over today, is a psychological illusion used by people trying to manipulate the present. if i was made "king of golf" i could arrange a scenario where all the best players played in a series of events tomorrow, i wouldn't care about pga/liv, etc., all i would need to know is availability. end of story. so the idea that there are "sticking points" is pure politics.

Grow up PGA, and grow up golf fans that want top golfers of both tours playing more against each other. LIV golfers are happy on LIV, just want to play Majors...and Ryder Cup for some. Why would a LIV golfer give money back to play on a currently lesser tour...? Allow LIV golfers to play in Majors...and create a new team golf comp with USA, European, international team and an added LIV team and played every end of every year. And just so by the by...Tiger is a Has-Been, so are Spieth and JT...and Cantlay is a Never-Been!

As I have said before, start a global tour and make 4 new Majors, 1 in America,Europe,Asia Pacific and Africa. It's ridiculous to have 3 Majors in 1 country, just look at the tennis, 4 Majors in 4 countries and it's much fairer for all players worldwide. I am sick and tired of the Pga Tour players and have stopped watching it now. If the DP tour had any brains, they should have joined PIf and been the main tour in the world. Americans only like playing in their backyard and won't travel globally.

Here's a thought, fans want to see the best players competing against each other! Then why so much support for LIV? Fair enough, a lot of players, in their autumn years, wanted a huge pension, great, and some rookies plumped for a massive income, which was not available to they, on the PGA tour. All that said, while talented but struggling players are forced our of the professional game, by high costs, massive amounts of money is being spent on a few multi millionaires!

So leave Jon Rahm out and bring the rest back then negotiate separately with Rahm if that is what it's going to take to get the deal done. There has to be some consequence for those who left and come back. Since the signature events were a result of the split, then perhaps for a year or two the LIV golfers would be ineligible for all or some of the signature events. This would be a show of loyalty for those who stayed with the PGA and there is a consequence for those who left. I know its simple; but its not stupid like giving money back. IMHO

hmm...I think some players will be p@ssed ... not particularly because of jealousy etc... but for example it is context ... if the paper talk is right for example ... alot of the elite players that left ..in the initial instance destabilized the tour and put it at risk for all of the players and in Rahms case were paid 450 Mill or thereabouts a hugely disproportionate amount ,this was largely because yes he is a great player ..but you could argue because he made his rep and was given and yes made it on the PGA..... but LIV offered him and others crazy money to BREAK the tour up essentially...... I think to pay it back is unrealistic....but a difficult circle to square, but I think something has to be done in that effect , not sure how...and the other issue for me is whatever you think the whole Saudi LIV thing in terms of how it has been done...stinks....a few twists yet me thinks..the amounts the players were bribed is/and still is NOT commercially viable and the uplifts/no cut and elevated events on the PGA tour and amounts compared to the LIV money is chump change...

I am not sure I am with this "just get on with it" stance. There were a large number of players who decided to stay with their Tours. Stay loyal and not take the money and run. Fact, not emotion. Many of those players will not now be able to play in events where LIV players are allowed back due to restrictions of the size of the field. Fact, not emotion. The affected players will find it far harder to earn a living by not being able to play - On the other side; LIV players can just come back, having been paid crazy money and give a crap about anyone else. That cannot be right - Opinion!
