WOW I just loaded my first 200 9mm on my new Apex-10 (manual, no autodrive) and boy am I pumped! What an upgrade this is from my old Hornady LNL which I've had for 12 years. Every component of the Apex-10 reeks of quality engineering, manufacturing, and precision craftsmanship. Dialing in my dies on the new toolhead was a breeze. I really like that all operations happen on the forward stroke, including priming (unlike the LNL), so you can dial in each operation independently -- without advancing the press -- until you're ready to move to the next step. The only adjustment I had to do to the press was to seat primers a bit more, which was easily done by turning a set screw on the top of the toolhead. In no time at all, it was time to reload the primer tube. The only thing to watch is to not go too fast. I found the DAA powder check plunger picking up powder from loaded cases and dumping it on the shell plate until I slowed down a bit. It wasn't a cheap investment, but if you enjoy reloading as much as shooting as I do, this is a great addition to the shop. Anyone want to buy a well used but still great LNL press??? 🙂

When supplies are available - I will most likely buy one of these. My time is valuable AND I want to shoot a lot. My current setup means that every hour at the range is about 1 hour+ of reloading. With this, every hour at the range would be about 10 minutes of reloading. That makes it quite a bargain for me.
@charliebrown24893 жыл бұрын
Pretty sure it's going to take alot longer than 10 minutes to load enough ammo for a hour at the range even if you leave it all set up for one caliber and one type of bullets and powder it's going to take you 10 minutes to load primers , powder , cases and bullets then you should really check everything so realistically it is going to take at least a couple of hours to load 2 to 3 hundred rounds
@Factory4003 жыл бұрын
@@charliebrown2489 1500rds/hr is about 250rds/10min I usually shoot less than 200/hr at the range so that is at least pretty close to accurate. At the moment I am prbably under 200rds/hr with my current setup.

@@Factory400 your in dream land 1500 rounds an hour is not possible you would need at least 1 person to load primers in tubes one person to load bullets , powder and brass and you would have to load 2 rounds a second with not one hickup and you would set a world record
@Factory4003 жыл бұрын
@@charliebrown2489 I only said 10 minutes. And the Apex7 has an automatic priming system that can hold/feed many hundreds of primers just by dumping them in. Mr Bullet Feeder Pro can hold many hundreds of bullets just by dumping them in the hopper. The cases - again many hundreds just get dumped into the hopper. Primer check, powder check, etc..... None of this is a dream at all - it is part of the system design. The most immediate limit is the strength of your arm.

Very interesting for sure. New to reloading, as in have never reloaded, but I am fascinated by this machine. Your thoughts Gavin on whether this should be a starting point?
@jebova23013 жыл бұрын
As someone that has been reloading for several years and also owns a mark 7 evo for the last year, I would advise against it. In my opinion, the best choice for someone new would be something like the lee turret press. If you remove the auto-indexing rod from the turret press, it functions exactly like a single stage press, and you can focus on working one step at a time while you are learning the ins and outs of reloading. When you have each die set up properly and gained a little experience, you can toss in the auto-indexing rod and make it somewhat of a semi-progressive press. With something like this, there is A LOT going on all at once, and it is a a lot for a beginner to try to take in while learning. That's not to say you CAN'T do it, but the learning curve will be a lot less steep starting on something like a single stage or turret press. Another thing to think about is that several people don't enjoy reloading. A mark 7 press is quite a significant investment to get started, and a bit harder to sell if you find out it just isn't something you enjoy.

100% hard no from me. I've owned (and still own) many a progressive press, and a lot of Mark 7 gear. The massive blind spot caused by the case feeder bar being at the front makes the press one I'd never fathom owning. It needs to either move back, or further out. Watching Gavin try to load on it, you can see he's struggling to place the bullet each time based on the fact that he has to reach around the case feeder arm.
@Bisley13 жыл бұрын
I rewatched it and see what you mean. Though au could be wrong, but it seemed like he was seating the bullet just after the powder (where the spots for the bullet feeder and powder check are) when he could have seated it two positions further, in the front i would imagine. Then again, even if it is annoying for hand searing, i guess most people who pay for this would get a bullet feeder anyway.

But Unboxing Videos are so long and boring.. When I purchase one I will assemble it according tothe Insgructions.. I need to know how they work and function compared to other brands and models .. what the good and bad features are of each brand and model.. It looks to me like Manufactuers send you Relaoders for Free thus You don't seem to understand the real purchasing process.. finding htem online or finding a good Brick and Motor store to work with .. Of coruse you would be limited by distance to deal wiht Brick and Motraor locations...

@@mikeskidmore6754 my recommendation: return the Hornady and buy the 550. Much more reliable and dead nuts simple to operate. If you can swing the additional cost buy the 750.

@@jyc2201 I will have to Google that Brand the 550 is .. I like the Hornaday because you can change dies that are still adjusted properly .. that's why they call it a lock and load.. I don't know all the Model numbers other than 600 JR ect I will guess a 750 is a Dillion..

It looks like an awesome press but with components almost impossible to get this would be a $2000 + paper weight

I’m pretty sure competition shooters who will buy his press (like Dillon 1100) have components stocked up. You know, we are very nervous typically when our primer stockpiles drop below 50k primers and bullets too. Most people who are going to these kind of presses are stocked better and your mam and pa’s local gun store, believe me. And it’s not that hard - just buy few thousands of primers each month and few thousands more you plan to shoot and it nicely grows over the year.
