Funny story, Joe Rubinstein didn't actually leave Cap with Stern and Byrne, editor Jim Salicrup just made the assumption that he was going to as well. Years later Joe asked Jim about it and Jim apologized for the miscommunication. Those sort of things just happened sometimes.

Definitely picking up the New Fantastic Four Epic Collection. Simonson's FF run is one of the more underrated Marvel runs and I can't wait to re-read the run in Epic Collection format.

This isn't necessarily about these books but if he sees this, I want to give a massive, enormous, gigantic, mammoth thank you to David Gabriel and his team for the announcement about reprinting Marvel Masterworks. I missed out on this at the start and figured it was a lost cause. As soon as I heard about this, I bought every single volume of MMW Mighty Thor currently in print. I really hope others are doing the same, I feel like this announcement needs to be as heavily broadcast as possible for collected edition communities like NMC.

I don't know if anyone noticed but there is a difference between printings of the FF Epic. In the first printing the "Fantastic Four" logo on the cover is black with a white outline while on the new printing it's reversed. White with black outline.

I just read the 'Doomwar' trade; it's a shame Bendis undid the positive relationship between T'Challa and Namor. An interesting take on Doom, too... the mapping of the Shuri trade is a bit weird as it is a lot of fragments of ongoing stories. Might be a good sampler, but not the best collection for someone new to comics in general imo

Has there been anything weird going on with Amazon and Marvel lately? Cause both the Captain America Epic from last week and this FF Epic both showed up as "Currently Unavailable" for a while and now they’re only available from third-party sellers rather than Amazon themselves (in the case of the FF Epic it showed up with the Low Stock alert a few days ago before it even was supposed to come out) Anyone know anything about this weird situation with Amazon and if it could affect any future releases?

Reprints usually have smaller print runs, but I can’t imagine the books going OOP that quick.

This has been the case for amazon in germany and the netherlands for about 2-3 years. it is really annoying as it used to be my main source for comics. now i often have to order comics at 2-3 shops.

I loved Coates and Hudlin's runs a lot more than Priest. Not saying you wrong for having a preference just it'a not strange to like a run that filled out 3 whole CCs and should get an Omni ;).

Just saw your last announcement, damn epic! Still not sure to get the Defenders Omnis, the 1st Epic Collection has issues that the first Omni does not have. On the other hand, the Omnis are going forward with the content and the Epics are stuck...what do you recommend, Wise and Uncanny Omar? Lol

Go with epics. They'll collect the remaining volumes eventually.

I generally lean towards epics when faced with this. My library is already getting out of control, Epic Collections let me collect these stories while also saving on space. Omnis are for those runs with art I'm absolutely in love with, or characters I just have to have.

Are you sure? Unless all the on-line sources I can find are wrong the first Defenders omnibus has all of the content found in the first epic, plus Defenders #12-18 and Giant-Size #1-2. There is a story from Marvel Super-Heroes #18 which is in Defenders Masterworks 4 but not Defenders Omnibus 2, however that's a GotG story so it's a bit weird that it was even in a Defenders Masterworks anyway.
