I think you mean use two different fabrics so you know which is the inside and outside of the mask, so you don’t get the dirty side the wrong way round?
@timothytotten94093 жыл бұрын
That's a good point. It would have made it easier to see how to do it. I may do another version with solid fabrics - two separate colors - and for smaller sizes.

@@bella-bee I agree with Peggy that for improved clarity it would have been good to use a fabric, for each layer, with distinguishable "right" and "wrong" sides. Also, using different colors or designs between outer and inner layers also helps.

Thanks for this new pattern Tim! It looks fairly easy. Not many facemasks work for fussy cutting. I'm going to make this with some fabric that has special designs in the 8.5×11" size for my son, whose face is fuller than yours. I think that size may also work well for people with large beards. FYI, just a note for future videos- African fabrics and batiks don't really have a WS/WS, so it’s difficult to tell which side is which in the video. Because this beautiful fabric is so spectacularly vibrant with no wrong side, it's difficult to figure out what's going on, especially with the pleating. I can't wait to try this one. Thanks!

I think that I’ll have to change the corner cuts to 1 1/2” on BOTH sides (instead of the original 1 1/2” and 2 1/2”). I think the mask will be in better proportion than increasing the seam allowance. I suppose that someone could take a piece of paper and fold it to make the mask and see if the 8.5 x 11 is too large or that they would have to cut it down to a different size. I haven't made a mask in awhile as we are not allowed to use homemade mask at work so I just use the disposable ones both at work and in the public. I used to make them in paper so I do know mine is 8 x 10.

@jeanettehaygood41543 жыл бұрын
@@annhopy5326 I have been considering this very question! As Timothy says, the mask made as he shows is likely too large for many of us. After looking at his other size suggestions I measured from side (ear to ear over tip of nose) and determined approximately where I would like the mask 😷 to sit. I decided to go with the measure about and inch away from my ear. From ear to ear it was about 10 inches. I decided to go with 8 as a better fit for me. I have Not made my mask yet, so your mileage may vary. Anyway, I’m going to try it with his ‘medium’ measurements and see how that works out. My current favorite mask is 7.5 X 5.5, so you might measure a mask that you favor and go from there. Hope this helps!

Am I moving point 4 up to point 2 and then back? I do not end up with any space between the two pleats, they both meet at the center?
@timothytotten94093 жыл бұрын
You’re actually creating folds at points 2 and 3. Fold top at point two. Which brings point one (the top) down quite a ways toward point 3. Then fold point one back to point two. Do the same thing with the bottom, folding the fabric along point three and bringing point four back to point three.
@timothytotten94093 жыл бұрын

When a person takes off the mask they are to place a new filter every time. If they go to the .99 store they can get 50 for a buck. If I can find photos of what I made I'll add it to you. MOST IMPORTANT KEEP EXTRA COFFEE FILTERS IN A PLASTIC BAG. TAKE OFF THE MASK THE COFFEE FILTER IS TO BE THROWN AWAY. EACH TIME IT IS USED A NEW COFFEE FILTER IS USED.
