What I love about Maneetpaul's review is that he is very objective. He is not trying to sell a device but he is actually just telling us the perks and whether it is necessary to have for reading. The fact that he also reminds us that at the end of the day, to be able to read is the goal of having these devices proves that it's not about the device that has the most bells and whistles but getting the right product for us. Initially I was content with just my 2019 Oasis but now don’t feel comfortable taking it outside now that it’s discontinued. I gave in and ordered the basic matcha for reading on the go so that my Oasis can can stay safe as my ‘home Kindle’.

Same. I also like the fact the basic kindle is so small. I’m just gonna throw a cheap $3 sticky screen protector and done. No case, just minimal.

Same, especially now that the battery on my Oasis doesn’t last as long. It has also been extra slow and freezes from time to time 😢😢😢

I would love it if you compared this Kindle with the Kobo Clara BW. The ad-free version is the same price and I’m having a hard time finding a reason to get the Kindle over the Kobo.

@@charleslapointe8948 If this is the case, then going for the Kobo Clara BW is a no-brainer. Kobo Clara BW is priced like the ad-free Kindle Basic but with the features of PPW. Kobo all the way then.

I have a question: Some people are reporting issues with sideloading on the new Kindles- have you noticed any problems with that? Also, I agree that the ad enabled vs. ad-free system that Amazon still has is ridiculous. No other e-reader company does it. I do like the color of this new Kindle though. It is very unique and it looks nice. Edit: typo

I plan on doing some more testing with the whole side loading conversation. I did notice that they changed the way you connect via USB (it now requires an app to navigate through the files on your Kindle). But I haven’t tried side loading yet, so I’ll get back to you on this in a future video

@@Maneetpaul Yes, please. There were also reports that sideloading your books in the Colorsoft (Specifically) will not show the book covers. This is a dealbreaker for me if ever so I want to know.

I’ve had the paperwhite for years & wanted to try out the basic so I got the matcha one & I truly love it! The size is everything!!!! So much more comfortable for me to hold for longer periods.

I am a Paperwhite fan as well but decided to "downgrade" when the screen is also 300ppi and I don't think I can go back to a larger one haha. The Basic is just too comfortable to carry around.

7:25 pausing and comparing, the darker shades do appear to have better contrast but it could also be lighting.

I have migraines and issues with eyes and reading. I did decide to try this without warm light with a clear case :) I am trying it on dark mode to see how it will work for me. it is so small and super light and easy to use. so far I am able to use it on dark mode. My paper white is still going to be my "go to" kindle but I think this matcha will work for me as long as the dark mode keeps not triggering migraines.

All of the new colors look so good, it makes me said that the Paperwhites all have the black front and that the Colorsoft has no color options at all.

I love my new Matcha kindle. I do have the black 2022 basic but don't care, will keep both of them. the Matcha colour kindle is so cute in person and had a spare case from my other one and it fits the kindle perfectly. I'm going to see if my friend wants to buy my paperwhite off me as prefer reading on smaller devices. She is just trialing it out at the moment.

I have the basic 2022 and i love it because of the size format and the black discreet logo on the front. I will update my kindle when the same format and discreet logo has the warm light, which is really missing on that one !

Have a previous PW, which is working fine, and leave at home and just bought the 2024 Kindle to carry with me. Question....does it really need a case? The device is hard plastic and looks tough, and the screen is recessed, which protects it. I have put a matte screen protector on it, which is unnoticeable. I love how small and light it is and do not want to make it bulkier/heavier with a case. How many people do not use a case with kindle basic?

I compared both and was surprised how different they feel. I love the basic for its size, but PW feels significantly faster and the material feels way nicer. I'll probably stick with the basic since screen size is more important to me and hope I don't spill coffee... 😅

I wish they would just do a white bezel option as standard for all devices. The black makes it look terrible.

Mine arrives tomorrow.....my first one as I've just used my tablet before. Although it's small I figured its light weight and I can just increase the text size if needed, plus its easy to carry about 👌

I bought my kindle with ads, I really don't mind, I like browsing other books too. But I usually hold it with 1 hand, today when I tried to swipe to unlock my kindle, my hand actually cramped LOL. Mine was KPW2, I have purchased the basic kindle 2024, hopefully the light weight would cause cramping less likely!

This is the only one worth buying. The others are not at all worth upgrading to. And the color of this one, with its being the same at the back and at the front, is the only one that stands out, IMHO. As soon as it's available for less, I'll consider buying it.

Yes i want it for the color although thats the 2nd main reason. i like green in general and i will get it mainly for the indented/recessed screen as i hate on reading on my kindle paperwhite that i got last yeah and will sell it as i barely used it.

Warm light and not being waterproof are dealbreakers for me, but i love how small it is! And color😢

Honestly? I came from an 11th Gen SE as well, and I thought I won't like the Basic. However, I couldn't be more wrong. The PPWSE is light but this? It's featherweight. And the small form factor is just the right size for me. Since I never used the warm light over my PPW anyway, I did not miss anything from my old device. If you are just into reading without the bells and whistles, I don't think you'll regret getting this Matcha Kindle :)

I think the idea that it's worth getting the PaperWhite if you pay to remove ads seems a bit silly, because you would have to pay extra to remove them on the PaperWhite too. At least in the UK, it's the same price to remove ads for the PaperWhite and basic, so the price difference between a basic and a paperwhite without ads is the same as the difference between a basic and a paperwhite with ads. I do think there's an argument with the PW that if you're paying to remove ads, it might be worth getting the PW SE instead (I think they are priced so close together by design so people upgrade for this reason).

I agree, and in my opinion one of the major reasons to pay to remove the ads is to show the book cover of the book I am currently reading, which I do on my Paperwhite but it is not ideal since my Paperwhite is in a case that covers the screen. If I opted for this Kindle, I would likely not put it in a case so being able to see the current book cover would be even more important.

How does it feel? I found the previous model too slippery. I really prefer this size but like the soft touch of the paper white. Have there been any improvements there?

Actually amazon gives you a $20 discount for having adds, they didnt offer this at the beginning and then they took 20 off of the original price so it was more affordable

You don’t need to pay $20 to remove the ads, you can just send Amazon an email and ask them to remove it free of charge. I did it for my kindle paperwhite and it worked.

I filmed that clip after the fact. I agree there is difference in that specific instance. But in daily use I haven’t been able to tell any change at all.

The battery life isn't that much greater than on an ipad, tbh. The Kindle lasts 6 weeks with 30 min daily usage, which is 22.5 hours of usage. An iPad will last 10-11 hours of medium usage. So you're basically getting twice the battery to another device. Great, to last that long, but it's also not that much.

I think an underrated aspect of the Kindle is how long it will last in sleep mode. If you aren’t using it, the battery can last for months. An iPad would die within a few days, even with no usage. Your numbers make sense, but I tend to see that real life use is drastically different
