Just ordered a Mazda CX30, the quality and refinement just blew me away, nothing the German competition could match for the price.

Great detail from the review, having owned a Q5 and Volvo XC40....this will be my next vehicle....looks so imposing and the interior quality and requirements seem spot on....all seemingly at a bargain price..similar spec xc60..£62k and Audi £61k...over £10k seems a high price to pay for potentially less reliable and less long term residuals....game over.....Thanks for the review

What makes the darker trims less appealing? Who wants a light interior that shows every smudge and if you have kids.. Darker is definitely more appealing..LOL Personal preference surely

These Mazdas are very classy. Better than BMW, Mercedes, Jaguar and Audi due to superior reliability and spec for spec better value. Would have a Lexus NX over the Mazda though and well done OSV for a great review.

I like how Mazda always set themselves apart. The vehicles look so well designed both inside and outside and I hear the rotary engine will be making a come back as a small engine to power the electric motors for a very different hybrid design which I think will be something great as it will get rid of any range anxiety. Fingers crossed for Mazda...Always great reviews that are so in depth.

The car looks great, and in town the PHV looks good, I'm fine with the ~30mile range, for my usual drive that will be fine. However, I'm really interested in the longer drives, we frequently drive through Europe, with a roofbox and bikes on the back, my old CX5 2.2D was simply a joy on those really long drives, my current CX5 2.0 petrol is so awful for those long drives the petrol consumption was crazy, may be I was just spoilt by the diesel. How's that 2.5l petrol going to cope with the slightly larger/heavier car on those longer heavier drives when going up some of those long hills. I wish the PHV had an option of the 3l straight 6, or even better the diesel (though in the UK the anti-diesel is liable enough to discourage me enough from going with a diesel, more's the pitty)

Your review and those of others make reference to the six cylinder petrol at the start, but then later on there is no mention of it. And the Mazda website appears to suggest there is no such option, at least not in the UK.

I wonder why they aren't making PHEV s in their normal and smaller sized models. The CS60 is quite a big SUV

Great review; Mazda tried this with the xedos line up - more than a match for 3 n 5 series of the day. Let's hope for a "fairer" reception this time round 🤨🤨

What’s the economy like on the PHEV when the charge runs out?
@francescorossi4659

Something around 7/7.5 l per 100 km, in contrast charging every day on a regular trip to work of about 70 Km I'm at 4,5 l/100 Km, driving with some attention to economy, only sporadically using the "immense" power and torque it has for fulmineous overtakes. It is a great car but suspension are to be reviewed especially for what concern behaviour on the bumps, it jumps like a Kangaroo unfortunately.

I do believe they have heated and cooled seats in the the Homura and Takunmi specs as standard. Most I've seen listed have that installed.

Noisy, poor quality build compared to older CX5 etc, technology that doesn't work, overly aggressive lane assist which cannot be permanently disabled thanks to the EU. Steamed up windows after left parked for an hour, poor suspension over bumpy roads. Just bought a CX60 top line and a CX5 black edition, wish I'd just bought 2x CX5.

I disagree. For some people, who do lots of short trips where the EV range is enough - but do want the occasional long trip without range anxiety then PHEV's are a good option. I've got one of these coming end of the month and it's 39 (or realistically 30) mile EV range will cater for 90+ percent of my trips. I have a charger at home - and solar panels and a Tesla Powerwall - so realistically I can run the vehicle for 'free' over a big chunk of the year. But if I need to do a longer trip then fine, burn petrol. Regular hybrids bother me as you have all the complexity of both platforms but no ability to charge at home and take advantage of (relatively) low cost mileage. As was pointed out in this review, charging a hybrid using it's engine is not the most cost effective ... I can only imagine doing it if you were heading to some no emissions area.

This car is a load of rubbish. It does not do nowhere near 54 miles to the gallon more like 31.
