This is living proof that the NSX changed the supercar game yet again. It did it in the 90's with the 1st gen, and when the 2nd gen came out a few years back, it was criticised for being a hybrid, Quiet mode was seen as a gimmick. And look where we are now.....

all plug-in-hybrid cars make sure that the hybrid battery never runs out completely by charging it with the internal combustion engine (or with the regenerative braking where available (not for Artura)). Because the hybrid battery always has some energy in it, the car can *always* deliver its full power using the electric boost. all plug-in-hybrid cars are quicker because of the electric bits because the electric torque is instant and the 2 power units work at the same time.

Any time you're not using 100% engine power, which is virtually any time you're not in a drag or at the track, the car has spare power available to keep the battery charged. You'll only potentially kill it if you run it in e-mode or hot lap mode.

That seat belt fault is actually a big issue, because it means in an accident BOTH airbags will go off as the car is thinking second passenger is on board. The lack of Regen Braking has got me scratching my head on this. Stock BMW's have regen braking let alone hybrids, so what is going on here ? The reason I am concerned is the Battery is pretty small for a plug in hybrid, and with no regen on braking its going to run out very quickly. My understanding is that the latest regen braking systems can recover 70% of the energy, which adds to thousands of extra Km per year.... Just saying.... The warranty sounds good.

Because Chris has been a road tester, car mag editor, etc for years and is very respected in the circles... More so than Jeremy Clarkson in numerous factors and by some margin might I add. Just like Rory compares the Altura to the Ferrari GTB and MC20. Comparisons will always happen, but not necessarily for a negative reason. From my earlier definition, one could take away that is Rory better than Clarkson if he's just as good as Chris.

@@torbinzix1 a car reviewer is a car reviewer is a car reviewer. That to me is like likening a green sour apple to the sweetness of a red apple. They both have their strengths, experience aside, they shine in their own unique ways, that's why none of them should be measured up against the other.
@torbinzix12 жыл бұрын
@@DjiCandi you're talking about entertainment. I'm talking about car reviews, while they are all equal some are more equal than others. I recently watched a review of the Lotus Emira. Initially I watched it on Autocar and thought it was a well rounded review as is Autocar, albeit before Steve Sutcliffe when to Auto Express. I then spotted in the suggestions the EVO review of the same car and I was intrigued as I recognised the reviewer from the WEC paddock as a reporter, so I thought the credentials were a good start. The reviewer dissected the cars handling in a much more technical way and by doing so gave better definition to the bigger picture in the Lotus story. Autocar = meh.. the car's alright. EVO = the car's okay, but dynamically underwhelming. Now if you wanted to buy the car or needed these fine details then for sure you need to know who's better. Moreover Rory Reid has the perfect blend of EVO style real world facts with a Top Gear-esque style of entertainment, this balance marries to provides a very watchable and worthwhile experience.
@DjiCandi2 жыл бұрын
@@torbinzix1 Carwow is entertainment mate, car reviewers differ from the next and I think that's where you misunderstand me. Your ability to watch reviews from one reviewer to the next speaks to what I'm on about here (I do the same) because Rory doesn't have Chris' experience shouldn't reduce him to being measured up against Chris or Catchpole or Clarkson in the first place. Like you said, comparisons will always be made. That stick is not the right one to use though.

They really are in different price categories. This is McLaren's sports car replacement (GT/570) while the 296 is even more expensive than the 720s or F8 tributo. I'm sure McLaren will have a 720s replacement soon, but I don't think many will be cross shopping the 296 and artura. I think a lot of confusion comes from the sf90 being seen as an F8 replacement, when its actually twice as expensive.

@@rotoehu9266 eh, I wouldn't be too sure. The depreciation has generally not been great on the McLaren sports cars, but Hagerty have given the 3 year depreciation on the 720s as being similar to the 812sf. The Ferrari name badge isn't as safe as it was a few years back, particularly as they dilute the brand with SUVs and have introduced more sports car models. Outside of limited production runs, Ferraris are going to depreciate like anything else. I also think it's worth remembering that, in the current market, we're not going to see depreciation for a couple years on a lot of cars. Given the supply shortages, if either of these cars are in demand, they'll be trading at list price.
