New MG5 EV Long Range What's New?

I quite like the fact that the MG5 doesn't stand out from other cars, this means you can park most places and not have to worry about theft or vandalism, they're more likely to target the posh Merc or BMW etc. Now that MG pilot is part of the package it tops my list of ev's to choose from.

I have the exclusive. It is a bit dull (while still zippy) but my goodness it is good at being a cheap to run EV that is highly practical. Just did a 700 miles round trip, no issues. But then the UK EV charging network seems to have had a much needed kick up the arse in the last year or so.

That’s what you need, the next gen looks a little more evolved, great fun though and rapid. The network has certainly got mire robust, when we did a road trip back in 2018, there were way less public chargers, plus they didn’t always work. Thank you Mike

i think you need to connect to car in the app on the phone, first time you get in...also, you need a cable capable of data transfer as well as charging...

Yes, many people have who’ve watched our R/T Review etc have bought the MG5 for exactly that, you’ll save a fortune charging at home on the right tariff.

Are you surprised, the motorist is the enemy it would have been a different picture if the government had supported ev, tyre tax brake tax plus the price if electric no VAT removal no subsidising charging rates, our C124 25mpg is more cost effective unless you’ve a wall box and a decent tariff.

Android phone issue ma be due the cable used. On ZS model the port used is significant too. Try the other one also.

Ive had the ZS EV for 5 weeks and found Apple Car play only works in the USB socket NOT marked with a tablet icon!

It you’re installing a charger on the OLEV grant these days it has to be “smart”. The charger does the timing.

I have no interest in the MG5 or their SUVs but i am waiting for the MG E-Motion but it is good to know these vehicles are performing well and are well built, so i know MG E-Motion will be even better, if it ever comes out :(

I know, how Rolex, Tag, Richard Mille how on earth can they keep using dials, by the way most cars have dials, it’s just there now digital rather than analogue.

Dials for everyday controls such as aircon and audio is good. Safer than the distraction of menu diving the display on Tesla's etc.

I think some dials like those in this car are essential. I had a Volvo S90 with a digital display and it failed on me a few times. And when it did, I had no idea where I was going and how fast I was going. Much prefer dials for the critical things.

Yes, we remember a number of 80s hot hatches with dodgy digital displays Golf and Astra spring to mind, very cool and rare but hardly reliable sadly Andrew S.
